So far so great
Am loving this in bedroom, my body doesn't cool itself so I need all the help I can get keeping my bedroom cool. This is so unbelievably quiet!!! High is a little louder then low and med but not compared to typical fans. I have to replace a cheaper brand circulator that's in the back room of house off of kitchen and it's so loud and in bad shape you can hear in front of house and in bathroom. I could hear the old bad one just mentioned above this one when I was setting it up in Master Bedroom (NO assembly, just take out of box). I wanted to try this size out first before deciding on the one for back room. I LOVE VORNADO, my very best fan is several years old, a Vornado that the front screen is broken off but MY FAULT b/c I used to live in very small bedroom to bath space where the fan was and between me and the dog we kept pulling on the cord that had to run across the walk space to be plugged in and it'd fall off the bookshelf alot therefore causing the front screen trouble, atl that way it's easy to clean. It produces great air flow directly at me or osculating though they don't produce fans like these anymore, it was very great quality and I can see that this 630 WRAC is too! B/c I'm so hot nature Im still keeping old V. fan in front of AC vent pointed at head of bed just abt 3 ft from me and then the new 630 in the doorway, the reg fan is louder then the 630, I have it on while sleeping and it doesn't bother me at all, then I don't have to have reg fan turned up as loud. I've always had to have some noise going all my life anyway. AND not sure it says it on here but the box says will save up to 5 degrees in thermostat setting - that prob depends on how your living space is laid out and if you use others etc, but sounds good to me even if I can save a couple degrees and also excited I will have the low sound in the winter b/c have always had sleep adjustment trouble w/out fan going, so this will be great to have some sound going and help w/ heat. My old air ciruculator was bought as a set by my mom, completely diff brand etc and one died and the other is so loud you hear it no matter where you are in house. And it doesn't cool things like it should, can't wait to throw that away as soon as I get another! With reading and using this 630 I've discovered I won't need as big of one as I thought for the back and should be able to get same size so that will save money on that too. With a 5yr warranty you can't beat it!!! (my OLD 2 were from QVC - they looked great on there - mom knew I needed them but the one didn't make it a year and the other like I said is trouble). I love Vornado's! I did see at Bed Bath and Beyond that they did have a V larger table fan but just from looking at it it didn't seem to have as good of quality in the stand itself as the old one I have that's lasted for years, though didn't touch it, just by sight. They have about the same V AC's but just slightly diff style and higher price. For Vornado's even if price is slightly higher, even on Amazon who is cheaper, it lasts alot longer and not looking for another fan (actually 2) when the former ones my mom had gotten me are troubled in little time. From my experience w/ one and all the reviews from even different sites on V's you can't beat them in that price range!

Circulates air
I finally understand the Vornado is not meant to be used like a regular fan. It's just meant to circulate the air in the room. If you position it correctly, there's no need for an oscillating function. A remote would be convenient, but I rarely have reason to mess with my Vornado except to lower its setting when needed. My daughter and I really like to keep it running when we're in the room, even on the lowest setting, because it just makes the air feel less stale and stuffy. This size of this Vornado was more than adequate for my tiny 13' x 12' (8' ceiling) living room, plus a tiny office (8' x 9') that opens up from it. It helped circulate the cool air from my really old window a/c unit. (We live in a 100 yr old house with tiny rooms, 1 small window per room, 1 outlet per room. Insulation is horrible. Layout is odd. Landlord doesn't care to fix or upgrade anything. It gets HOT & STUFFY.) When I first turned on the Vornado, I was disappointed. I traded my daughter for an 18" oscillating fan she was using in her room. The oscillating fan worked great except for some annoying features that I never knew could be avoided. It was loud, it shot bursts of cool air in intervals (in between the 2-second bursts I sat in hot misery for 8 seconds... no real temperature regulation), and it blew papers off my desk every time it turned past my open office door. Plus, our dogs kept moving around, trying to find a comfy spot in front of or away from the fan. Then my daughter started telling me how she preferred the Vornado to the fan. So... I took it back! I decided to give it another chance. I searched the internet to find out why it was so pricey and what made it so great. I learned I had to find just the right position for it. (This is also explained in the directions that came with the Vornado, but I overlooked those, thinking this was supposed to be some kind of miracle fan. It took me a few tries to find the right positioning for my room. (Helpful tip: Once you find what you think is a good position for your Vornado, sit down, relax, and wait. You'll know when you've got it right.) It was weird, but after a couple of minutes, I started to feel cooler. I wasn't sitting directly in front of the Vornado or my a/c unit, but I started to feel air ever so slightly passing me. Within 10 minutes, I could sit just about anywhere in my living room and feel comfortable. There were some "dead spots," but for the most part the entire room felt "fresh." Even my office, which was not in direct line with the Vornado or a/c unit, didn't as stuffy and stale. When it's really hot and I have to work from my office, I position the Vornado near my a/c unit and aim it directly into my office. The air stream is strong enough to enter my office. And it's great. The room cools down without papers flying everywhere. I can work in peace, without intervals of sweating and then wanting to wear a flannel. My daughter ended up asking for the Vornado back, which I refused. I found a smaller one on sale at a store nearby. It pretty much looks like this medium room one, just smaller. She uses it for her 10' x 8' room and still prefers it over a fan. We both agree our oscillating and high velocity fans are sometimes necessary when the weather hits over 110° outdoors. But we don't miss the loud whirring of the fan blades along with the noisy a/c unit. We dislike sitting there, waiting for a burst of cool air to be blasted at us in intervals. We hate having our long hair and lightweight items fly around, my contact lenses drying out, not being able to sweep our floors without having to shut everything down first, etc. We both prefer using the Vornado whenever possible. You can have this Vornado aimed directly at you on high speed and although your hair will gently blow back, it won't whip around your face in a tangled mess. I recommend getting this medium size Vornado if you want to reduce cooling/heating costs by circulating air within a room (this can definitely handle a room larger than my living room), if you have issues with stuffy rooms, have temperature regulation issues, and so forth. Please do some research on the difference between a Vornado and a fan to see which one best suits your needs.

Effective for it's size!
Got one of these Vornado's a little bit back. On sale for $39.99 which was well worth the $40.00! These are like a medium sized fan. Good for being on tables, counters etc..Despite being a mid sized fan. They work like a bigger fan. It make some noise when running. But not as loud as my other fans. It cirrculates air really well. It has some weight to it. Weighs probably about 8 to 10 pounds? The materials and, built are quality. The functionality is very simple and straight forward. It's black and, has a cool looking style to it. Has three modes. Doesn't come with any controller. Personally couldn't justify buying one for the $79.99 price tag. But if you can get it for $40.00 it's worth it!

Fantastic fan, worth the money, skip the cheap imitators.
I didn't really believe the Vornado hype until I bought one. I purchased the 630 to achieve a gentle breeze and cooling effect in my room. I live in the southwest and it easily climbs to 100 + degrees in the Summer outside, and in the Winter it's nice to have some air circulation so the room doesn't get too stuffy. This fan does a fantastic job at providing a very steady and consistent airstream without the choppiness of other "propeller" based fans. In my experience, this fan produces one of the smoothest airstreams out of any of the other competing "propeller" fans on the market that I have used. I was initially a little bit concerned about the seemingly steep $60 dollar asking price. It is indeed just a fan. I am pleased to report that I feel my $60 dollars was well spent. The fan is relatively quiet, it's definitely noticeable but it has more of a white noise sound (that actually helps me sleep). I usually stick to low and medium speed settings, primarily setting it to low when I sleep. Medium is a good balance between noise level and air movement. High moves a surprising amount of air, but is admittedly fairly loud. I rarely use this setting, usually only for ten minutes or so to help cool down the room when I get home from work. The 630's motor manages to avoid the high pitched whine of some other fans I have tried. Most of the noise is from the air movement, with only a slight audible low-pitch hum from the motor, which from a cursory look appears to be a relatively high quality part. The build quality is very good. Don't let the plastic construction fool you, this is HIGH QUALITY plastic that is durable and feels like it will hold up. While it certainly isn't as nice as a vintage steel or aluminum fan, by modern standards it's actually ahead of the pack. The 4-way speed selection knob (off, high, med, low) gives a satisfying click when switching to different speeds. The propeller is a indeed a "deep pitch" propeller (think boat prop), meaning the blades have more surface area to move air, and the motor doesn't have to spin at a million RPM's to get some good airflow coming your way. While I think that Vornado's claim of air movement up to 70 feet is a bit exaggerated, I would say 40 to 50 feet should be a reasonable expectation. I am using it in a relatively small room however, but I do find it more than adequate for my needs. This Vorando fan proves the concept of "you get what you pay for." You will get a quality, well-built fan, and I feel it's certainly been worth what I paid. I picked up a cheap Honeywell Turboforce fan (sort of a cheap imitation of the Vornado fan design) for work at my local Target, and it's nowhere near the same quality, and I actually regret buying it despite it's cheap cost. If you want a quality fan that doesn't rattle, doesn't have a high pitched whine, and moves air without sounding like a Boeing 737 on takeoff, this is the fan for you. Skip the cheap imitators, trust me, I have tried them.

Powerful, well designed and reliable
I’ve been a Vornado fan for years—some of mine are almost 10 years old—and this model has been great as well. The power is impressive, and the sleek black design looks good in any room. No assembly is required, and it functions exactly as it should, moving plenty of air in a medium-sized room. The only issue is the front cover sometimes falls off for no apparent reason. The clips on both the front and back shields aren’t broken, so it remains a bit of a mystery. Despite that, the fan works perfectly. Pros: Powerful airflow for medium-sized rooms Sleek, black design Durable and long-lasting No assembly required Cons: Front cover occasionally falls off for unknown reasons Conclusion: Overall, this Vornado fan is reliable, powerful, and well-designed. It’s a solid choice for anyone looking for a long-lasting, efficient fan.

11 years of service
I’m writing a review now because this fan died on me - after just shy of 11 years of near daily use and 4 different times moving to new states. It’s amazing to me that it went this long and was still kicking until near the very end when a a recent winter storm killed power to the house and had some other items short out, so I don’t even know if the fan gave out or was a victim of power issues burning it out. It continued to circulate air incredibly quietly and effectively, keeping my room feeling nice regardless of the weather. It’s a bit of a hefty price but it’s really worth the investment.

Compact, Strong, Sturdy
I've generally been using box fans which work fairly well, and I haven't really paid more than $20 for them. I realize you get what you pay for, and while some have lasted more than a couple of years, they've all tended to be kind of flimsy, especially the plastic grills on the front and the back. And I clean and maintain them regularly. Having said all of that, they are kind of cumbersome and get in the way. This year I figured I'd invest in something a little more expensive, a little more compact, but that serves the purpose of keeping the air circulating in the house. And this Vornado doesn't disappoint in the slightest. The first thing you'll notice is how compact it is. Which makes storing it or just chucking it in a corner when it's not in use very convenient. Despite its size, though, it's pretty darn powerful. And the circulation is great, even on the lowest of its three settings. Another thing is that for a small unit, it's SO sturdy and heavy for its size. The base is solid and there's very little chance it will even tip over. The unit swivels up and down fairly well, so you can really position it for maximum effect and efficiency. Best of all is the warranty: I mean, when's the last time you purchased something that has more than a year's warranty? This little Vornado comes with a whopping "5-year hassle-free promise and supported by a customer service team based in Andover, KS". All in all, a great purchase and worth the price.
