Based on the best-selling novel by sci-fi master Stephen King, THE DEAD ZONE TV series follows a man who wakes up from a coma to find he has special psychic powers. Review: Must get and Binge Watch - Anthony Michael Hall was great. this was a great show. Review: Great TV Show! The Price is Amazing too. - I remember watching this TV show when it originally aired and I really enjoyed it then. I decided to buy it recently and I fell in love with the Dead Zone TV show all over again. The cast is amazing, the show is well written and shot. There are six seasons in this complete series and for the price, it's unbelievable. I recall reading about some confusion with the order of the discs from other reviews and I payed close attention to that. Not all the discs are marked as to which season they are on the front. There are five discs in season two and I did find the 5th disc along with the final season. The color of the artwork on the 5th disc is more of a blue color which is different from the other four that have a white background. So, I can understand how this can be confusing, however each disc states the season at the beginning after you put it in the DVD player. I must admit that I wasn't completely happy with all the changes that took place during the final season and there was no real closure at the end. Probably because I think they were expecting to come back with a seventh season, which never happened. Overall, I still enjoyed the series and highly recommend it.

The Dead Zone still holds up.
I have good memories of watching The Dead Zone from when it first aired on the USA Network. The fact that a local network began running the re-runs of this show prompted me to buy the series set as a "pandemic project" for myself. The Dead Zone expands the mythology from the Stephen King book and the 1983 film it is based on. Johnny Smith, the reluctant psychic (some call him a prophet) is played by Anthony Michael Hall (of The Breakfast Club fame). Johnny has a great life, until a car wreck puts him in a coma for several years. When he wakes up, he has the power to see visions of the past, present, or future (he doesn't control what he sees). But he has lost the love of his life to another man, the local sheriff, who is also raising his young son. Nicole DeBoer (whom I've had a crush on since Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) and David Ogden Stiers ("Winchester" from M.A.S.H.) help round out a good cast. Like in the book and the movie, Johnny Smith soon encounters a man he feels is responsible for the end of the world. This man is a politician. He's a smooth-talking, womanizing creep who is basically a gangster. He's able to bribe, bully, or blackmail his way into higher and higher levels of public office. Sound familiar? The main story arc is set up as Johnny versus the politician to save the world. But most of the episodes are about less apocalyptic things. Johnny touches someone and tries to help them or solve a mystery or prevent a calamity. Often, Johnny laments that using his gift to try to help people often causes the situations to become more complex or difficult to navigate. My main problem with the show is that how Johnny's powers work seems to change from week to week. Sometimes Johnny's visions are from his hands only. Other times, he seems to get visions from the ground through his shoes. The "rules" about his powers are subject to the whims of the writers of each individual episode. The Dead Zone is a good show with a good cast. I'm only up to season three in my full series re-watch, and I've seen a lot of good guest stars and "before they were stars" appearances. And the writers try to take Johnny through a lot of different genres/types of stories on his psychic journeys to help others. If you're looking for an interesting kinda-sorta detective show about paranormal abilities that's not too serious or scary, you might really enjoy your trip through...The Dead Zone.

Great show, great set
I love this show so much, and this is the perfect set for binging. It's a fascinating take on the books, and I like that there is a little more hopeful tone. The acting is on point.

I Forgot How Much I liked this Show
Funny, I remember watching this show back when it was first-run on TV, but now that I am revisiting it, I do not remember much about it, except that I still like it. Anthony Michael Hall plays the part well, as both a tortured and a warm, funny guy. With his physical therapist, played by John L. Adams, who is also his good friend, Nicole de Boer is his lost?not so lost love (also loved her in DS9) and David Ogden Stiers as the Rev., it's a fun show to watch. Glad I got the DVDs, I have no idea where else this show is available.

I want an ending!
I remember when The Dead Zone was on tv. I took an instant liking to it but as ratings dropped it also dropped of the face of the earth, well my local stations anyway! Since buying the box set we have been spending our evenings watching 1, 2, 3 episodes and cant get enough. We will often say, "Let's just see what the next one is about" and then end up watching the whole thing. I will say you can tell that Season 6 saw some budget cuts, not for the quality of the show but for the number of characters who all left in one episode (dont worry, I havent'given anything away!). The only problem is that there is no ending!!!!! The show was cancelled and I guess they were hoping it would be picked up by another network but, alas, it wasn't. I love this show!!! Great packaging, good quality viewing, sometimes the menu set up was a little complicated and over the top but we got over that with the great episodes :) Enjoy!
