A great kids camera
I gifted my grandson with this camera on his fourth birthday. He was using my daughter's phone to take pictures so it was high time for him to have his own camera. After receiving it, I played with the camera some to learn about it (so I could show him how to use it) and to ensure it was of good quality. I was not disappointed in the least. This camera is durable and will withstand being dropped. I got the 2MB version of this camera despite there being a 5MB version available. After I added a memory card to the camera (this was optional as the camera comes with memory) my grandson can take thousands of pictures with it. I found the ease of use with the buttons to work well, even for a four year old. The photo editing features in this camera are absurd. It comes with something like 70 of them. I have five cameras of my own - adult cameras - and I don't have the features this Vtech camera comes with. My grandson soon learned to have fun editing pictures to make them look fun and goofy. There are five games built into this camera and my daughter says he plays with them a lot and has one as his favorite. The other nice thing of this camera is that after three minutes of inactivity, it turns off. That saves big time on battery consumption, which my daughter (probably any parent) finds to be an issue. Toys are left running and batteries then become exhausted. The quality of pictures is good, but remember - they are just 2MB pictures. While some may "blast" this camera for that fact - it is a KIDS CAMERA and allows them the opportunity to learn how to take pictures. At four years old I kinda doubt my grandson needs a camera with higher megapixels and better sensor - it is much more important to get started in the world of photography and this camera does just that. Do I recommend this camera? Absolutely. I hope that as my grandson enjoys using his camera that he and I can go out on a photo walk someday. Maybe at the zoo!

Yes!!! Child friendly REAL DIGITAL CAMERA
I LOVE this camera. I bought this for my granddaughter to use. She is 4 years old and loves using mommy's camera. She will soon have a new baby brother and wanted something of her own. This takes clear pictures and is simple to use (even for ME) It requires 4 AA batteries, two in each side. Don't mix up the battery covers... They only fit on their correct sides. It has a double view finder she will look through like binoculars, so no squinting through a single site. It is appropriately sized for young hands, and while I'm sure it is breakable, it does seem sturdy. Once a photo is taken, it is easy to view on the screen. There are fun treatments for selfies and pictures of friends the kids will love, and it is simple to scroll through and delete. Mommy and Daddy can add a memory card, or just use the camera memory and the provided cable for putting on Mommy's computer. There's a place for her to make digital voice recordings and also videos. I've read some concerns about the games, but I actually like the games very much. They are basic simple games that will actually improve some of her motor skills (imo) Intetesting enough that she will want to play them sometimes but not overly absorbing. Perfect for those times on vacation when photos aren't being taken but a child needs to be occupued (on a bus or train for example... Why bring an extra toy?) In settings you can make them inaccessible if you prefer. The games give you the option of toggling for control or tipping the whole unit right left up or down. Did I mention that the pink design I chose is adorable and my granddaughter will love it?? There's a little wrist strap included that can go on either side (or you can purchase camera straps that go around the neck and hook on both sides for just a few dollars, which is what I will do) Overall I say WELL DONE! If you are on the wall about this purchase, jump in. I love the thing. I was anxious about setting it up for her but there is NOTHING to it. Even the least techno savvy grabdma will be able to do it. Definitely anyone who has used a digital camera.

Made for Kids But Not a "Toy" Camera
My 5 year old granddaughter always wants to use my DSLR camera and has asked for a video camera so she can create a vlog. That makes me smile because she can't read and write yet but she wants to post videos online. Kids! I wanted a sturdy camera for her that is made for kids but is not a "toy." The VTech Kidizoom DUO met all my requirements. When she opened it on Christmas morning, she screamed with joy then said, "Is this a toy?" I explained that it is a real camera made for kids to learn with and that I would show her how to use it after she finished opening her other gifts. She was not interested in opening anything else and taught herself to use the camera on photo and video in 2 minutes! She was adding borders to the pictures and discovered the games too. A few days later I was asking her about Christmas and she said her best gift was the camera. This camera is sturdy and has survived many falls (it was under the couch when I visited recently). It is very easy to learn and is fun to use. I believe she took around 1,200 pictures before maxing out the memory. When it gets full, we just delete the less than perfect pictures. The batteries last pretty long considering how much the camera is used. We have not printed any of her photos yet but what we view on the screen is very high quality.

Disable the Games First!!
This is a great little camera. We have a lot of VTech products and we've been really happy with them. The photo quality is not amazing, but it's decent for a camera that can take a beating (and ours has). HOWEVER, with the target age range for this item being quite young, I do not understand why it comes equipped with non-educational video games. It wastes the batteries and my four year old son (who of course found them before I knew they were on there) was quickly addicted to them. I do not understand why the factory default is for the games to be switched on with no time limit. Fortunately, I found out that you can disable or set a time limit on the games (the shortest limit is 15 min/day). That's not the case with all of the VTech cameras so make sure you check if you are going to buy a different one. I wish he had never known they were on there. He has a LeapPad loaded with educational games that we are fine with him playing. These games are addictive garbage. Shooting basketballs, steering a car, etc.

Appears to be a good gift for a 5 yr old.
It looks very nice. It’s a bday present for my grandson. He won’t receive it until Oct.19, so I can’t comment on how it works.

Durable
This has got to be the most durable kid camera out there. We have used them with each kid and start them out around 2 getting their first camera. My kiddos love taking pictures and I love their individual creativity along with watching them get better and better over the years. My oldest, almost 10, is a great photographer. These cameras have withstood drops from 2+ feet, being thrown (although thankfully not often), and even rain/inclement weather. I highly recommend getting a memory card and carrying case to accompany it. That way you won't have to delete pictures as often. With the many carrying cases on Amazon you can find one that is a cool color/style your kiddo will love. Ours fits the camera securely with velcro strap, and is padded for accidental drops while traveling. It can even hold extra batteries which is nice. It takes 4 'AA' batteries and doesn't drain them too fast, which is awesome. I feel it's worth the price & I have even found a cheaper one that was returned & it was like new, although if you do return it a friendly reminder...don't forget to delete your pictures for privacy...I made sure to delete all that was on there from some other kiddos birthday. Definitely highly recommend!

LOVE this kids' camera!!
my little grandson wanted a "green camera" for his 4th birthday, and Grandma obliged him with this camo design VTech camera. His mom is tech-illiterate so she asked me to PLEASE open it up and get it set up for him and learn how to use it BEFORE the birthday. I had so much fun with it, it was hard to put it back in the box! It not only takes great pictures, but it has sound effects, funhouse mirror effects, snapchat-type distortion effects, fun frames, the ability to put multiple faces into a single silly image, and simple games. Yesterday was the birthday party. After everyone left, he started hanging out with his camera. It has stayed by his side... through dinner, tooth brushing, and evening. He slept with it. He told his mom he would not need to borrow her iPhone to play games any more because his new camera has games on it. Now mind you, I did NOT show him that. He figured out all this stuff by himself. All I did was take a couple pictures for him - a "selfie" shot of him and one of his dad and of his mom, and I put them into a single picture "silly shot". He has figured out other things by himself. By the way, it is pretty indestructible. It is a kid's camera but it is tough. I am VERY pleased. It was money well spent.
