Not for video
Just a word of caution, firewire-to-USB is not for video. Video capture to PC requires constant stream. You can google that info if you wish. I just want to save you some aggravation if you are getting this as a magic workaround for not having a firewire port. It's good for date, but not for video capture from a camera or other playing device. It's great for all other purposes.

This won't work for why you're looking at it.
If you are trying to use this to transfer a signal or data, it does not do this. Firewire and USB are incompatible and this is just a toy someone made up so people will buy it instead of the $200 converter thing you actually need. And it's cheap enough you won't feel compelled to return it because it LOOKS so useful! But it isn't- it does nothing, if you afraid of your firewire device running away I guess it would work as a pretty leash so it can't escape. It is compatible in the sense that the ends fit into the holes mentioned in the listing. But it has zero functionality to transfer anything and neither a computer nor a firewire device will recognize it.

It fit but....
It fit the camera I was trying to get the tapes digitized, but my PC didn't recognize it. It fit though, more work now.

Not to replace 1394 interface
The USB is not compatable as a 1394 on dv camera.

I used to use a PCI card to add a firewire port to my PC for years until it stopped worked (and damaged my motherboard). Using this cable is a much better alternative even though speed is not as fast as the PCI card.
