Originally released in 1977, this was the first album Iggy Pop made after the dissolution of the Stooges, several jailings and a self-imposed stay in a mental institution. Produced by David Bowie, and including music written almost entirely by him, this is Iggy's most introspective and heavy work. Much more mechanical than the sleazy proto-punk of the Stooges, The Idiot was a huge influence on the post-punk sound of folks like Joy Division and Magazine. An absolute classic on 180 gram vinyl. Review: Buy it on vinyl buy it on mp3 buy on cd , this the best album ever - My favorite album in the entire galaxy, the sound in vinyl is beyond awesome, I could write a book about how good and above its time this album is. My favorite track is Funtime, theres something so awkward about that track that makes it so genius. Yeah lust for life is a great album , but this is Iggy pop in his innovative peak...I also like the fact that is kind of an experiment of sound David Bowie (RIP) would later use The vinyl had a small stain and the first track of side b sounds a little scratched. I stil give it a 5 stars for what it is Review: Great quality! I bought this album for a friend ... - Great quality! I bought this album for a friend who has a digital recording of this but not on vinyl, so I lucked out. Thanks for delivering the album so promptly!

Will do the job. Not bad, not great.
4 Men With Beards vinyl has been shaky in the past, and I was hesitant, but I love the album, and like that it's on colored vinyl. They have a track record of using digital files, but for me that is not a deal breaker. This is actually pretty good. Raino Records pressed them (they AFAIK do all of 4MWB vinyl pressing), and lately their quality has improved, to where it's OK. They used to be pretty bad. Overall, if you would like to have a nice looking copy to play once and awhile, and don't want to spend the extra to buy an original, this will do.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE IGGY/ZIGGY PRODUCTIONS
I LOVE THIS ALBUM. ENOUGH SAID. EVERY SONG IS CO-WRITTEN AND PRODUCED BY IGGY POP AND DAVID BOWIE, SO NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS ALBUM IS GOLD.

Sonically Terrible Pressing
This is another terrible pressing of a brilliant record that deserves so much better. This pressing literally sounds like a cassette, it's so bad. There is a ton of surface noise and the mids are shrill and unlistenable. I thought I might get lucky or that maybe the other negative reviews were by hardcore audiophiles who were more particular than I could ever be. Nope. Don't buy this version, it's dreadful.

Four Stars
Not the greatest edition, but fairly ok! And the album itself highly recommended!

Great music, horrible pressing & mastering
This is a great album, but avoid this reissue. This is one of the noisiest pressings I've ever heard of anything. The mastering is just as bad: indistinguishable sound quality from a low bit-rate mp3 of the same music. The mp3 actually sounded better since it lacked the horrendous surface noise. Thank God I bought this from Amazon and could easily return it.

Awesome, love it - you cannot beat a bit of Iggy just to clear the cobwebs away! This is such a classic 70s album with the Bowie influence and the Sales brothers backing him up. Gotta own it, but don't over pay!

It was sealed, but the vinyl contained a few skips.
