Product Description This band's name comes from the phone # of Junior Samples' used car lot on Hee Haw; their sound comes from the ghosts of Nashville's Lower Broadway, and their debut EP, Live from Robert's, came with some of the year's most amazing reviews. Their self-titled full-length covers true classics from the likes of Moon Mullican, Mel Tillis and Graham Parsons as well as showcasing some killer originals. First single/video: "Cherokee Boogie," to be serviced to select AAA and alternative formats as well as country outlets. desertcart.com BR5-49's first full-length disc isn't a bad album, but it offers nothing that hasn't been done earlier and better by nouveau honky-tonk and rockabilly bands in Boston, Austin, L.A., Washington, and Baltimore. Gary Bennett and Chuck Mead, BR5-49's two singing, songwriting guitarists, mix six originals with old songs by the likes of Webb Pierce, Mel Tillis, Ray Price, Moon Mullican, and Gram Parsons. BR5-49 performs with the enthusiasm and competence of the seasoned bar band it is, but neither Bennett nor Mead is a special singer or picker and the rhythm section lumbers along without distinction. One suspects that BR5-49 were signed because they showcased regularly on Lower Broadway in Nashville, where country-music executives who don't get out much thought they were seeing something unprecedented. --Geoffrey Himes Review: Worth every cent - Awesome album Review: BR5-49 - This is their 2nd CD and has some really great tunes. I love the way they mix country, blues, and comedy with their songs. It includes the hit "Cherokee Boogie".

It's not In The Pines but it's good
This was their 1st album and a solid effort. The guy playing steel and fiddle plays great. They do have that old rockabilly sound.

Love that sound!
Listened to these guys when I was just a kid. Hearing them again now that I have a son is like reliving my childhood. My son likes them too!!!

Very fun
I have a diverse taste in music and these guys fit right in. Fun, catchy tunes, upgrading the sound (and tempo) into a country swing/rockabilly flavor.

Was macht Alternative eigentlich zur Alternative?
