Work well, takes practice
Was using these to fill some deeper gouges in a veneered desktop. Took practice but I ended up with an acceptable result. A few things I learned: - Does not adhere to indentations in finished wood; needs to be a full thickness gouge or scratch. - Can use a hairdryer to soften the stick or a piece of the stick, but you don’t have to. If you choose to do this, don’t also heat the furniture or the wax becomes too thin (won’t fill) and gets messy. - I found it easiest to press the stick into the scratch and then twist the stick so that a small piece breaks off into the scratch, then use firm pressure and finger to spread it. - Can fill in layers, but it adheres to itself, so while trying to add another layer, the stick can easily grab the layer you already put down and remove it. - Scrape off excess with a credit card and then buff with a microfiber cloth. - Not for high traffic- will come off eventually. Good luck.

Worked great for me!
We used these to fill the nail holes on finished door jambs and trim. At first, I had nothing but trouble and had OK results scraping off a little with my fingernail, sliding it into the hole, and then smoothing it - tedious at best. Then I watched the video on Mohawk's site and skeptically tried it. Yep, it worked. You just have to run the crayon back and forth over the hole to warm it up from friction until it nicely fills the hole. Then use a stiff card to level it with the surface, and wipe around the fill with a cloth to get any wax off the rest of the finish. We found one color in this kit that worked on most of our areas and then used one lighter and one darker to blend other spots. For us it was a good color kit (12 pk), especially not knowing which color would work. The photo actually has two finished nail holes - hard to see, but I guess that's the point!

Instructions are incorrect
This a good HARD wax product that should be used with a soldering iron since it needs to melt and fill the gap. The instructions provided are for a soft wax product which this is not. I don't know if it is a packaging issue but anyone who chooses to purchase these in the future might want to keep this in mind, otherwise it's a good product.

They really do make dings in your wood hard to see
I was refinishing oak kitchen cabinets and was kind of sad that the previous owners had attached a paper towel holder to the side of one of the cabinets. I've tried other ways to fill holes and if you're staining the wood, it just doesn't work. These wax crayons are the answer! Once you stain the wood you can use the crayon that's closest to your wood color and it really works to fill the hole and hide it. My husband was amazed, he had to really search to find the holes in the cabinet. I'm so happy to have a solution to filling holes in stained wood, I wish I had found them a few years ago.

This works so well hiding the dents on wood floor, you might get addicted to applying it to anywhere with a tiny dent

Use it with a hair dryer. No kidding.
These wax sticks have a great color range, and appears to be high quality filler. But at first I tried using it by just pressing to fill brad holes, and the pressure needed could actually damage soft wood, and didn't do a great job of filling the hole thoroughly. The instructions said to use a contractors heat gun. But those get really hot and the heat alone can damage surfaces. So I used it with an easy to use small hair blow dryer, and it works so very well. First I heat and fill all my brad holes in an area. Then I come back around and slightly heat those areas before polishing the excess wax off with a soft lint free cloth. I've tried other brands and these are the best so far.
