Norpro Cast Iron Bacon Press with Egg Ring Set

Perfect iron and the egg rings were a bonus! Great press!

Weight and size is as listed. Good quality. I am not sure if the company has different manufacturer contractors which causes the mixed reviews. It is a bit small for a few slices of bacon, but if you are making bacon and egg muffins, just cut your bacon in half before you cook it. Remember to lightly oil the egg molds before you use them.

The bacon press works as it should. It's good. But the eggs rings are trash. They do not work even a little. The egg slips right under it and makes the same shape as if I didn't use the ring. Only now I have more dishes...

My family loves bacon. Frying in a skillet or on a griddle, bacon will shrivel up. I bought this set and a separate Norpro press without the ring set. I used a large griddle on my stove and with the to presses, I can fry 10 strips quickly and with no shriveling. Its easy to season and cleans quick. I haven't tried the egg rings yet, just used to making fried eggs to old fashioned way, crack them on the griddle. Might gove them a try with hashbrowns.

The grill press is sturdy and large and heavy enough to do the required job. It is well made. You have to season it with heat and oil before use, but that is not a problem. Once done the press works great. The rings are shallow, but they work well for pancakes or eggs though eggs tend to leak as does thinner pancake batter, but that is a problem nearly all cooking rings have so I do not deduct points on that account. I suggest greasing the rings before pouring anything in them to prevent sticking. The items are easy to use and clean. I recommend them.

Bacon weight is a little lighter than expected. Rings are ok in design but are chrome plated and therefore have rough edges and peel after heavy use. I use rings to make round egg shape when making eggs for bagels and despite using cooking spray and low to medium heat, eggs stick to the bottom edge sometimes.

I bought this cause hubby will only eat crispy parts of the bacon and in hopes it wouldn’t splatter so much. I was pleastly surprised that I didn’t get burned by the splatters and the bacon is so flat makes it even more perfect for a breakfast sandwich. It is awesome but remember to hot pieces with bacon in the center does cook it a lot faster. The egg things that came with it work but make sure your pan is completely flat or it will spill out.

Bought 2 sets, very reasonable priced, arrived ahead of delivery date, well packaged. Used them once to cook steaks in cast iron skillet, did a great job holding meat down, meat was very tender. Clean up was a breeze on these presses. Might get another set to use on outdoor grill.
