By far the best grip strengthening device
Let me offer the following explanations. I have strong hands. I've always had strong hands. Among other things I worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker for many years. I'm now almost 74 and at the age of 65 was recruited into an international medical study on the use of aspirin. Among the attributes periodically monitored was hand strength. My local, Detroit peer group at Wayne State University Medical Center has been about 500 seniors. I was told that my hand strength for this group was number one. I didn't get this device for therapeutic reasons. I don't have arthritis or carpal tunnel, etc. I have a Glock 42. The 42 is a 380 ACP weapon and the trick to using it properly is holding it firmly so that the blast from the explosion will power not only the bullet but also power the slide back to eject the casing and load a new round from the magazine. This is a semi-automatic. If you don't hold the gun firmly the gun will jam. I was shot in an attempted holdup in Los Angeles as a young man. Unfortunately I brought my fists to an unexpected gun fight and was the loser. Never again. The Glock 42 is the ideal conceal carry. It is light and goes almost unnoticed as opposed to, for example a Glock 23 or 27. Those are 40 S&W and (by comparison to the 42) feel like you've got a brick in your pocket. So I got the hand strengthener to both strengthen and train my hand grip. This is a self-defense project. I swim and cycle daily and have a weight room. However, until now nothing specifically for improving my grip strength. This device has six springs, is all high quality steel, and truth be told, it's extremely easy to scale the increase in tension as your grip strength improves. You just move the springs, notch-by-notch, away from the pivot point. It's obvious and easy. The physical dimension of the device also mean that the angle between the gripping surface is less acute and the grip movement seems more proportionate and natural. You contract and release by a slow 1-2-3 count in each direction. I was somewhat surprised that this was the only device with such a design but there you go. The other plastic things seem like toys by comparison. If you're going to spend the time to achieve a serious goal - buy the good stuff. I don't think that a human Godzilla could exhaust the potential max resistance on this thing and its quality construction mean that this is a forever device. If you are serious about improving grip and hand strength I haven't seen anything to beat it.

Amazing Gripper
This gripper is awesome. So my grip strength on a dynamometer is 100 pounds. On the setting in the picture I can close it 3 times. My hand size is 7-7.5 inches from wrist to tip of middle finger. I currently have one of the cheap grippers from amazon with the curved handles which go from 10-60kg. Although cheap they are fairly good. I can close the max of those about 4-5 times. The minimum on this gripper is about half the strength of the minimum of the 10-60kg one. It has a good feel. It has a slight increase in resistance as you close it. The 10-60kg one almost feels like it has the same resistance all the way through. I feel like using this gripper way more than the 10-60kg one, it just feels good. It could be because the handle are more parallel, I'm not sure, I just know it feels good to use. It also has a nice long range of motion. There is no way you will be outgrowing this gripper no matter how strong you get with the additional 5 springs. Pros: Capacity beyond what your strength will ever get to. Very fine gradients to increase the resistance. Nice long range of motion and feel of resistance throughout. Handle close to parallel. Due to design I can't see this breaking, if it does, easy to fix yourself. Cons: Size is basically the only con. You aren't going to be carrying this around with you when you drive to do some grips when running errands.

Awesome grip strength trainer.
Wow exceptional strength trainer. It definitely seems to be a pro product. I first seen this while doing physical therapy. I decided to buy it since the other hand grip trainers were to easy. The springs would end up snapping to easily. This is awesome. It comes with carrying pouch and 6 springs. I haven’t gotten past 2 springs depending on placement. It has notches where you can adjust the springs placement from easy to hard. Not sure how many pounds of pressure it takes but I believe I seen somewhere that it goes up to 500lbs. I’m no where near that. I would be nice to know where to place springs for what poundage but it doesn’t show you. Great product good luck maxing it out.

Wow
Pros: this thing delivers with weight and resistance, strong springs, solid-quality materials, nicely spaced handle, easy to grip, easy to use Cons: VERY difficult to move springs, handle is somewhat loose and wobbly, no instructions

Best Gripper
I prefer this over the more traditional grippers. It feels less technique demanding and more centered on raw strength. It feels like you are getting stronger and not just better at closing a specific tool. The massive range that you get for the price is totally unbeaten. You can go really light, so I could see this being ideal for people in physical therapy. On the opposite end, you can load this thing up to the point where I am doubtful if there are many people alive that can close it. The only downside this one has over your more traditional grippers is it's more bulky. So you can't really put this one in your back pocket.

This is what I have been looking for !
The traditional “V” grippers are not optimal - the angle is too great and the tension increases as it is being closed, right when your grip would be weakest. With this piece, the grip angle is perfect – just off parallel. And the gripping surface is made of nice stainless, slightly knurled cylinders. As it uses a spring, the tension still does increase with closing, but not much with the way it is configured, it is much more balanced. It comes with six springs, I don’t know why. I have been working grip strength for decades, and probably have stronger hands than 95 % of the population, and I can just barely close it with one spring – making for a perfect workout, several sets of 5 reps. I don’t think any man born since the last Ice Age could close it with two springs, certainly not more. Perhaps they are spares? Although I can’t see these springs weakening or breaking with a lifetime of normal use. The pivot pin may wear out after prolonged use, but looks like could be easily replaced with a bolt and washers. This is not for beginners just starting to work grip strength – it would be too much. My only critique is that there should be “beginner strength” springs included, in a regular progression of strength to use as you develop your hands with it. For serious strength athletes who already have some hand strength, I totally recommend this!

A very good grip strengthening device.
I’ve ordered two of these already, one for myself to keep at home, and one that I use at Work as I am a physical therapist and I think this works really well for increasing grip strength. It’s designed well where you can adjust the tension easily and quickly. It comes with five springs, but I’ve only ever needed to use just one spring because that is plenty
