OMNIKEY 3121 USB Card Reader

The card reader works right out of the box, I would buy this again from this seller.

I've had this for over a year now, it has yet to fail me. First off, I work for a military branch and own nothing but macs, so it's hard to find reliable CAC readers. This one works great for CACs and for any apple computer. It's durable and has worked for me well for over a year now without any issues. It has a sticky sticker incase you have a permanent place for it, however, if you do not, it has a stand. PROS The cord is not too long, and not too short. Just right. Design is great Sticker You know when the card is in all the way with LEDs CONS Feels kinda of cheap, made out of cheap plastic

Very good product, much better than other smart card readers. Can require some effort to set up on some Linux distributions. Overall I can definitely recommend this product. The physical design of the product is also well made and will probably last a lot longer than other readers I've bought from other manufacturers. This product can also read full sized SIM cards for e.g. research purposes.

It's a really nice CAC/smart card reader. No drivers to install with Windows 10, and works nicely with ActivClient (which it should since both are by HID Global). I've actually had more problems with the built-in reader on my laptop than I have with this reader. As an added bonus, if you've ever taken the DoD Cyber Awareness Challenge, this closely resembles the CAC reader used in that horrible training.

Have not yet been able to get it to read my card. Card works fine in the rowing machine, but does not register in the reader.

I have a government issued smart card that I needed to use for my office machine. This card reader was able to read that card without issue. However, I bought this specific version because I wanted to be able to read the smart log card for the the C2 rowing machine. This card reader was recognized by the C2 software and I was able to get the logs off the card without any issue. This reader is much much cheaper than going with the C2 branded card reader

If you are working from home and you work in an area where you need a device like this...you know what it does. Anyway this version is simply a plug and play device on a windows 10 laptop. It simply worked right off the bat and I did nothing but simply connect it and then use the appropriate card. I will buy another one for a spare, I like this for the reason I noted (it works) and that it stands vertical. Yea its plastic ...but so far its been a great tool that works well.

I've used other readers that were cheaper but they were poorly made and were flat to the desk. The Omnikey makes it much easier to simply plug in the card and later extract it. The construction is solid and the cable seems much better than the cheaper devices that I have previously used - longer, more flexible and generally seems to be made of better materials.
