Is there any difference between the davincikit and superkit?

Depends which superkit you are thinking of (V2 or V3). There are items in the DaVinci that seem to be missing from the superkit, such as the RFID, the keypad, ultrasonic range module, joystick and others. The DaVinci kit consists of a set of projects you can work through. I've done the LED project and the LED bar so far, planning to do the LCD display next and you can combine with the Minecraft API if you like too. On the other hand, the superkit seems to have a case for your project. Hope this helps.

Do you have to solder things together?

I Have the DaVinci kit but I think this kit will be the same. You get a breadboard and lots of jumper cables so no soldering is required (I should add that I haven't built all of the experiments yet but all the ones I have built use the breadboard).

Do I need to buy the raspberry pi or anything else to work this? Buying as a present for a kid that wants to learn to code

This kit only comes with the electronic components. It does not include the Raspberry Pi 3 or 4. These have to be purchased separately from this kit. Raspberry Pi 4's and 3's are sadly very expensive at the moment due to current supply chain issues... If your kid wants to learn how to code (and understand electronics) consider getting the ELEGOO Uno R3 Project The Most Complete Ultimate Starter Kit also available on Amazon instead. This comes with the Arduino Uno and a similar set of electronic components however uses C++ instead of Python. Despite being C++ opposed to Python, it is a bit easier to get started with. In either scenario, I would recommend checking out the Paul McWhorter YouTube series. He has a "Raspberry Pi Series for Absolute Beginners" (covering this kit or the slightly upgraded version of this kit) and he has a "New Arduino Tutorials" (covering the ELEGOO Uno R3 Project The Most Complete Ultimate Starter Kit) playlist. His YouTube series is free to access and he is one of the best instructors that I have came across. You and your kid will likely learn a lot more looking and following along with his tutorials and homeworks then using the manuals. Once you and your kid have went though the Arduino series, and the supply chain issue with Raspberry Pi's are addressed, it is worthwhile purchasing a Raspberry Pi 4B and the upgraded version of this kit.

Good quality product and excellent support

The guys at Freenove really care about their customers. There were some broken parts in the kit that I received but Freenove offered to send me a replacement kit free of charge and I just got confirmation the kit is on it's way to me. I admit I wasn't happy with the quality of some of the parts at the beginning, but considering the proactive support and the way they handled my complaint, I can say I'm completely satisfied with their service.

Produit parfait kit soigneusement emballé et la mallette est très utile. Pour ce qui est de l assemblage etc j'ai testé sur raspberry et arduino aucun soucis faut juste connaître un minimum de programmation. Pour les débutants vous pouvez vous amuser avec stretch c'est un puzzle surtout les enfants ! Parfait pour débuter

Großer Leistungsumfang, gut Anleitungen dazu, viel fertiger Code, der einfach angepasst werden kann. Man kann auch genau die Einzelbestandteile von sunfounder nachkaufen - falls man die Bauteile öfter braucht oder mal was kaputt geht. Empfehlenswert! Daumen hoch!

Das ganze Paket ist perfekt. Man kann so die einzelnen Sensoren testen. Und kann direkt in Python alles programmieren. Es gibt sogar vorgefertigte Lösungen auf der Website zum runterladen, falls man mal nicht weiterkommen sollte. Daher bekommt das Paket 5 Sterne von mir!
