Not bad for the price
For the price this is awesome. It powers my wife's usb midi controller and an aux to aux cable puts the sound to our wireless speaker. Nothing special. But you plug it in and you're playing piano. I just wish it came with the aux to aux.

EXTREMELY poor quality sounds
I bought this "PianoBox " sound module specifically to play piano sounds with a midi keyboard. The provided "Grand Piano" sound is an awful low quality designed-sound conception that has little relationship to what a piano sounds like. I struggled for an hour to figure out how to change the edgy "electronic" sound to the "Grand Piano" sound before I finally realized that what I heard was the provided "Grand Piano" sound. The "grand piano" sound was is also very TWANGY with significant VIBRATO/TREMELO after the initial attack. If a chord is played, the notes combine to form a growling gritty undertone. Ugh! I have a free smart phone app (for ear training) that has a "Piano" sound that is far far superior to what this sound module generates. I bought this sound module to be able to practice piano exercises on my midi keyboard while traveling. It does generate some kind of tuned sound for the notes being played, so it met the minimal need. I would not trust any product from this company.

low cost easy to use portable Midi Module
i received the PianoBox midi sound module in 2 days post order. I am really thrilled with it. Instructions are minimal. It has two means of connection - a USB connector and a Midi Out connector. I discovered to get this to work with my m_audio keyboard and PC with Real Band or Band-in-a-Box, an additional module was needed. I got an MIO 1 in 1 out USB to Midi . I am not in business. I can record with zero latency. The unit sounds really good as a stand-a-lone sound module for the keyboard. It is straight forward and easy to use.

Not a quality product, support worthless
It was like going back to the 80's. block text utility, no meaningful docs, and piss poor communication. 6 questions, one irrelevant answer from CS. Audio volume through head was way too low to be usable, fed to speakers no better. Down 3db from where it should have been. Stupid design, had a usb-c for charging but a usb-A for communications, required a USB-a to USB-a to upgrade but that didn't work. The purported ready for upgrade never showed on screen, and the info that was there, nobody knew what it meant? .DE says it all!

Didn’t Work for me

Save your money.
It works as advertised, but there is one major and one minor problem with it. First, the sounds are not good by today's standards. They are equal to a high end Casio keyboard from the late 1980s. They don't even have any expression - hitting a hard note on the electronic keyboard should give you a hard tine sound, and it doesn't - just louder crappy piano sound. Second, the volume requires an external amplifier to get any gain, even with headphones. Clearly someone designed this for usability and not for sound. Either way it isn't worth $200.

Battery would not charge
I got it to work when plugged into my laptop and the sounds were OK. However, after charging overnight the battery still had no charge. Returned it.

Didn't live up to my hopes
I had tried another of this type unit, a little less expensive that was a real dud. I had hopes for this one, but no. I used it with a Fishman Tripleplay which has excellent tracking on my computer. This tracked very poorly and even added in unplayed out-of-key notes. Sound quality, meh, at best, and I'm not all that fussy. Some day we'll get a modern sound module that costs under $200 that is usable. I haven't found one yet. Why are these sound modules so hard to find? I had to buy a used one from the 90s with no USB. It's expensive and difficult to use.

Grazie.

I like it very much. -Polyphonic. -Reacts to program changes and control changes sent externally from my computer and from my midi controller. So far i tested pitch bend, cc1 modulation wheel, cc7 volume, cc70,cc71,cc72,cc73, all seem to react according to general midi specifications. -channel 9 (channel 10 if you count from 1 instead of 0), has percussions sounds, which i wonder if they have different banks as i havent tried to switch the banks yet. -naturally, it gives 128 instruments (0-127), all setup according to General Midi standards. -seems to be able to handle couple channels and instruments at same time
