Fit my old Briggs and Stratton Quantum Power 4hp engine (Replaces part #493295 or 497598 or 497680) and everything lined up nicely; however the old part assembly was riveted to the shroud so you need to grind off the rivets but after that it fits perfectly and comes with 5/16 bolts and nuts for installation. Before reassembly, consider lengthening the pull cord, which is easy to do. For the price, it's a cheap and effective repair.

The assembly was very easy to install. I had to replace the part on my Toro lawnmower because the old pull string broke. It fit very nicely and it is just like the assembly I had originally on the mower. It worked on the first pull and very satisfied.

So far so good, the one i bought a couple years ago, from the same company, the handle itself broke and i had to use vice grips to start it. As you can imagine, the string broke eventually and i got this new one. Ive used it for 2 mow so far and it starts much smoother than the old one.

The recoil starter assembly was a good fit and worked very well with no anomalies for a couple of months. The handle on the end of the cord could be made better or at least different. Like many handles on this type of starter assembly, the cord is run through the handle from the bottom to the top of the handle. A knot is then put at the top to keep the cord from being pulled back through the handle. The problem is, the handle material is too soft to keep the cord with the knot from being pulled through the handle. The handle pulled off the cord. You may want to add the following suggestion to this item. I took a metal pin and cut it to the size of the top portion of the handle, that has a groove there. i tied the cord around the pin and sealed the end of the cord so it wouldn't untie. I have no more problems with the unit. It is made very well with the exception of what I just stated.

Product fit like original, works like the original, I would buy again.

This is a reorder of a return I made, because the first one, the pull cord string came out and the tension spring on the recoil mechanism was no longer working after the cord string came out. So far this one is working good. The one thing I would say is, for the people that buy this product to be sure and check the knot made on the cord on the recoil mechanism, because if it's too small the knot will only pull through the recoil mechanism and if the spring breaks, the product is no longer good, this you have to return the product.
