Soft Hard Boiled Egg Cracker Topper Stainless Steel Shell Separator Remover Eggs Cutter

We have eggs quite often and I was fed up of having bits of shell in my egg - small problem I know but who likes having gritty shell in their yummy chukkie egg :( I saw this and thought it would be a gimmick - how wrong I was! It's a brilliant bit of kit I've used everytime and does the job perfectly. You need a couple of go's to get the pull up right but once you've got the feel for it, the eggs are perfectly sliced across and even if it doesn't remove the top completely (tends not to on large eggs) there is a straight cut through line on the egg to follow. Very happy with this perfect little gadget :)

On a soft boiled egg it does not work quite as well as some of the videos you may have seen. You have to be careful not to drop the plunger too hard as it smashes the top of the egg but hard enough to cut the top For all that , I would buy it again.

Does the job

.....the first time I used it, I did so at full spring, and the whole shell was smashed - very messy! So there should be a warning about this! "Start with a short pull-up and work up to what suits your egg best" for example. So far by trial and error doing OK, but it's not as magical as the adverts led me to believe - a moderate pull cuts the shell but I still need a knife to cut off the top. Maybe I'll get the knack, eg., moderate pull up and not too soft an egg, perhaps. Also seems to work better on the rounded rather than the pointed end of the egg. It's already better than using a tea spoon either to cut into the shell or to break up the top of the shell and pick off the pieces.

Completely useless. Not fit for purpose. Doesn't fit a standard or large sized egg. Might fit a very small egg.

A brilliant design, very well made, but tricky to master. The cut is very clean when used correctly. My technique is to grip the eggcup and the Egg cracker together and try to keep them held firmly in place. Lifting the handle, then releasing it, can plunge the cracker into the egg, so holding it firmly is important and means that the force goes into the cut, but prevents it from crashing into the egg. Not always successful, but when it does work its really cool.

I've now used the egg-topper quite a few times over the past couple of weeks since receiving it. My first effort was a bit of a disaster (the whole egg basically shattered), but gradually I have learned how to get the top off cleanly with the slightly soft-boiled egg (which I prefer) inside intact. The trick seems to be to pull the knob up enough to score the egg-shell, without shatterng the rest of he shell near the base. It takes a little practise to get it right and sometimes two/three more gentle taps with the knob are required, but I am now reasonably proficient in getting the best out of this clever little device, so would recommend.

Great invention. My husband already bought me one as a gift, so obviously when it was his birthday I bought him this one so we don't have to fight over it. Would totally recommend this for egg-lovers, but would not recommend using it to thwack a person's forehead. To be clear, I haven't actually tried this but I expect it would hurt quite a lot.
