JERDON Two-Sided Swivel Wall Mount Mirror - Vanity Mirror with 5X Magnification & 30 inch Wall Extension - Model J2020C

Installation: Before mounting, be sure to install the mirror on the extension arm to insure two small bushings don't fall off and be lost. (That almost happened to me.) I found the drywall anchors provided difficult to install properly to mount the base. Instead I found toggle bolts easier to work with, allowing slight adjustments to height and perpendicularity, to get the base installed just right. (The toggle bolts were rated for 50 pounds, while the instructions that came with the mirror did not rate the anchors provided, probably because correct installation of them would seem to be critical. Either those provided or the toggle anchors mount the base directly on the drywall, so it is absolutely immobile. Good instructions were provided to determine the optimum height above the floor to mount the base. Construction of the mirror: Every part (except as noted above) is solid and dependable looking. Even at maximum extension, the mirror is held steady and with no sagging. It looks like it will last for decades. The glass - both sides - seems perfect. Usage: I intend to use the mirror to see the back of my head to cut my hair. I had a similar mirror where I previously lived, but this one is clearly better, providing a large image. Now I can have both hands free to give myself a better haircut. I turn my back to the mirror over the sink and see the reflection of the back of my head in the extended mirror. See the first image, the first selfie I've ever taken. When finished, I close the extension and swivel it and the mirror flush with the wall. See second image. I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone who needs a "rear view" mirror.

Good product for use as a supplemental mirror in a bathroom to aid in close facial work. Only slightly disappointing issue is the pivot points on the mirror that allows it to flip between magnification side and 'regular' side is plastic and molded into the plastic frame. The mirror was installed during construction and at one point was hastily folded allowing the pivot point to hit a wall with a significant amount of force. The pivot point cracked and came off of the mirror frame. This left no way to re-attach the mirror to the supporting bracket. Because its a high stress point, glue on hand would not hold the pivot post onto the plastic frame. (a good epoxy may have been able to reattach) This should NOT be an issue for normal use of the mirror unless it is in a place which the pivot point could easily hit a structure with high impact. I purchased the same mirror as a replacement and have not experienced any issues after that. Both sides of the mirror are clean and without any distortion. The metal scissor extension and pivots work very well and holds the mirror where you place it. Most other mirrors of this type are also plastic framed so would expect that the same problem would happen to those if the mirror is 'abused' !

My mirror extension was damaged and had to return and buy another one.

I’ve ordered this mirror multiple times. Ultimately, I think it’s decent deal although I wish it were sturdier. This last one lasted me just over 2 years. I use mine daily to apply makeup and fix the back of my hair. Flipping the mirror from no to low magnification seems to loosen the connection to the arm somehow and I’ve had the mirror come off so many times! The first one lasted almost 10 years so I am hopeful this replacement will give me more time before I fail to catch the mirror when it becomes disconnected from the arm and breaks. I wish they sold just the mirror for replacement parts. I really like that the mirror is rectangular so that you get to see more of the back of your head for hairstyling and I like the long extension arm. I have it attached to a cabinet in my bathroom and it easily tucks out of the way. Be careful when you spin the mirror and you’ll get more years out of it.

Replaced one I had already. Live in an older house with wider counters. Love it!

holy crap did these go up in price, ah nehow glad i got it when i got it. It works very well for shaving, the mirrors i have in my bathroom are a tad to low, im guessing the people that lived here before were very short cause when i stand straight they only show up to my neck xD Well with this mounted mirror i can actually shave without straining my neck. Its fairly large and the extension comes out far enough so i dont have to bend over and stress myself out. Its pretty solid on the wall and was very easy to install, recommend a cordless powerdrill and drill some pre holes cause the screws are a little longer then normal things guessing cause of the weight it has to support when its full extended. It works well, well enough that i wanted to waste my lunch time at work writing this review cause i think it deserves it. Will buy another one when the price comes back to reality. Ah dont wanna go on to far and feel like a paid shill like the majority of the these other reviewers.

This is a good quality shaving mirror. Some mirrors that use a "scissor arm" linkage are very flimsy and unstable when they are fully extended, but this one is made of thicker metal bars and so it stays fairly secure even when it's extended all the way out. The mirror itself is relatively large, and has a regular mirror on one side and a 5x magnification on the other. Although it comes with two plastic anchors for mounting in drywall, I highly recommend finding a wall stud to screw it into. These cheap plastic drywall anchors NEVER last. If you cannot find a stud to mount to, I suggest buying anchors that will actually work, such as the large metal screw in type, or the style that have "legs" that open inside the wall. Also, the scissor mechanism was fairly stiff out of the box. This is actually a good thing, as it shows that it has been sturdily constructed. I oiled all the joints and sliding parts with a little mineral oil and worked it back and forth a few times. It worked perfectly after this. The mirror ships in two pieces that must be assembled. The base of the mirror threads into a rod at the end of the scissor linkage. There is a set screw on the side of the rod that must be tightened after threading the mirror into the rod. Don't forget to very firmly tighten this set screw. Otherwise the mirror will unthread itself from the linkage.

This mirror is a must have in every bathroom and not just for fixing your hair, but for looking at your back, checking for suspicious moles, etc. and general visuals in places that are hard to see. This mirror is very well-made, strong and sturdy. I leave mine extended and folded back to the wall so it takes the pressure off of pulling it out each time. I very much appreciate this mirror for the many reasons I have used it so far and projected usage in the future. Very high quality. I recommend this mirror to anyone and everyone!

A bit small but overall a decent product

I picked this unit out as it seemed to have the longest extension and it does stretch out 30 inches as I measured it. I would have preferred a round mirror but the extension length was more important to me. The main thing to note is that the mirror frame is white plastic as are the knobs that mount the mirror to the U shaped bracket. I assumed it would be chromed and I had to closely re-examine the add photos to see that it was indeed white plastic. So it does look kinda cheap in that sense. See pic #2. There is a locking screw where the U shaped bracket attaches to the long bolt to keep the mirror from unthreading itself as you spin it (see pic #1). I took the extra step to add thread locker to it prior to mounting. I also sprayed dry lube to the extending arm joints so it functioned more smoothly. For about 37cad its not bad considering the build quality is just ok.
