Add a Cookie Sheet Under It and It's Perfect!
I've tried several different laptop chill mats, and none of them chilled my MacBook Pro 15", because the fan was not under where it gets hot - way back on the left side. They also didn't have vents in that area, so they were worthless. This one is perfect. The 15" MacBook Pro fits exactly in the space in-between the solid areas on the sides. In other words, it sits over the mesh part. I could put the fans along the top area. The only downside, was that it's really uncomfortable to sit with it on your lap. And you can lose the airspace under it that you need, if it's sitting on your legs. Plus the metal edge along the back was hitting my knees - really uncomfortable. If I hadn't already tried other chill mats, I probably would have just packed it up to return at that point. But, I thought all it needs is something for it to sit on that is a flat surface, not a pillow.Couldn't find a book big enough, I kept looking around the house and voila! There was a cookie sheet in the dish drainer LOL! A standard size cookie sheet is the perfect size to put under it.That said, this chiller is sooooooo quiet - silent, really. BUT, I can't believe how well it chills the bottom of my MacBook Pro. I run it like mad, and it has 16GB of RAM and I use it so heavily, that it can slow down and get super hot. With this chill mat, with the fans under the right spot on my Mac, and with it sitting on a cookie sheet - it's like a miracle. The laptop is just warm. I have no idea of what the temp difference is, but it's the difference between a bath that's too hot to get in and luke warm water. Amazing.Tha laptop does slip around a little. Not horribly, but when you lift it off your lap to place it somewhere while you get up, be careful, as it could slip off.I also love how the USB cable that plugs into the laptop, has a USB opening in the back of it - so you don't lose any USB ports by using this cooling mat.Definitely a must-have. Just be aware that this chill mat is big. BUT, for a 15" laptop, the center mesh is the right size to have the mesh under the entire laptop. Get out a cookie sheet (or maybe cover a board with something more comfortable?) and you will love this chill mat. Was super easy to attach the fans, too.

I Would Buy This Again
I spent A LOT of time looking for laptop coolers. They range from one tiny fan to one massive fan to multiple massive fans. THERE ARE TOO MANY OPTIONS.I wouldn't recommend this to use in your lap. It is designed to sit on a desk. It you want a lap desk, look elsewhere or buy a tablet!I chose this one for several reasons.PROS:-Construction is good. My laptop has rubber feet to stand it up a little so the aluminum doesn't get too hot. The fans feel sturdy.-Moveable fans. My laptop heats up towards the back left corner were my exhaust fan sits. It is nice to put two fans over there and one over the battery. I love the cooler for the moveable fans, this is worth a HUGE value.-Raised frame. The raised frame really allows for more air to go through. Nice feature that other coolers miss!-Power Efficient. I was concerned with those MASSIVE fans would have a high power consumption via USB. The three fans has not affected my battery life at all.-The USB plugin has a USB opening on the back of it, so you don't lose a USB slot.- Lots of rubber! This does not slide on my desk. I trust it to hold my $2000 laptop on a regular basis.- Cord management. I am pretty sure I have OCD. Cords drive me crazy! This cooler makes wrapping my cords in the back easy.- Quiet. I can hardly hear them running and have to put my hand under them to make sure it is working.CONS:- Not as much cooling power as I imagined. Don't get me wrong. This thing does bring down my GPU/CPU temperatures but don't expect miracles. The raised frame probably increases cooling more than the fans by themselves.- Not extremely portable. I use an Everki case for my 15.6 inch laptop so things are a little tight. This unit has a large "back end" and might be difficult to cram into a briefcase daily. However, I do not need an amazing cooler for simple work related tasks, just for my gaming. I am fine leaving this thing at home for my high end computer games. For the price, it is pretty good. If you want a heavy-duty, gaming geared cooling system then expect to fork out a lot more money. This definitely has the highest value among laptop coolers.

Disapointing
It worked ok at first, but within two months one of the fans broke. After that it was pretty much rendered useless. Now I am on the hunt for one that actually works. This was a disappointing product. While it actually worked it was ok. It was quiet, but bulky and wasn't really made to sit on your lap.

Cooler Master NotePal U3 PLUS
EDIT: June 15, 2014, 4 months after use, one of the three fans sometimes make a clicking noise. But after unplug and replug a couple of times, the clicking goes away.It has been 2 months since I received it. It works perfectly. My laptop CPU and GPU would get very hot, 105+ C when under full load before I got this, now, it will just get somewhat warm (haven't looked at the temperature because I hadn't the need to, but I would say at most 85 C for the CPU and GPU). I have the dial turned all the up for heavy work and lowest for just browsing. The noise level at full speed is fairly loud, but since I wearing my earphone when I need that much air pushed through the laptop, I don't hear anything. The lowest speed is audible, but it's barely louder than my stock laptop fan at low speed. So far I haven't experienced any clicking noise in any of the 3 fans. I had previously purchased 2 Cooler Master NotePal U2, both of them start to make very obnoxious noises after a month's use, but this Cooler Master NotePal U3 PLUS has worked flawlessly for more than 2 months at mostly full speed for at least 8 hours a day. This is the BEST laptop cooler in my opinion for the fans are adjustable in positions and speed, and it cools laptop, mine at the very least, very well.
