Not your normal lens hood
I bought this Sioti hood for my Sony PZ 16-50mm OSS E-mount lens. From a practical point, and from the looks of it, this really isn't a lens hood; it's more a circular "crash bar" to help protect the front element of the lens than providing any substantial shading. I may be wrong in this; time will tell. I chose the Sioti because it comes with an oversized lens cap and the hood attaches by threading into the lens barrel. What's nice about the 58mm lens cap is it fits into, and attaches to, the front opening of the hood; it's much easier to handle than the tiny 40.5mm Sony cap. There are fine ridges machined into the inner edge of the hood the latches on the cap engage; the cap stays firmly in place. The outer edge location of the latches also make using the big cap a lot nicer as well. Also included in the kit was a lens cleaning cloth. The potential downside to using the big cap are the three large slots cut into the hood around its perimeter; using the big cap means "stuff" may get through these slots and onto the lens. How much of a concern this is depends on whether you're a UV (or Sky, or Haze) filter user or not. The Sioti lens hood is internally threaded to allow installing a 40.5mm filter. If you thread your UV (or Sky or Haze) filter into the the lens hood, you have protection; "stuff" getting through the slots will end up on your filter, not your lens element. The threading feature of the hood can work nicely if you have to stack a couple of filters (ND filters come to mind). You can potentially eliminate vignetting by threading one filter into the lens (between the lens and hood) with the second filter threaded into the hood ...or both threaded into the hood. Overall, this is a very lightweight, high quality, metal lens hood with very useful features and nice details. While the outside of the hood is painted in a satin black, the inside is painted in flat black. Even the branding is low key; the name "Sioti 40.5mm" is placed on the inner flange of the hood and is relatively hidden when the hood is mounted on the lens. The one thing most lens hoods provide is protection from glare. I don't doubt this hood can provide *some* level of glare protection, but this is not your normal lens hood; don't assume it will provide the same level as a more traditional hood. Despite this short coming, I highly recommend this hood and cap combination. Details: - Fully threaded into the lens, and without a filter, the hood extends 7/16" from the face of the lens; no vignetting was observed. - Installing a filter between the lens and hood pushed it out 5/8" from the face of the lens; no vignetting was observed. - Installing a single filter into the internal threads of the hood produced no vignetting; the big cap can be installed. - The overall diameter of the hood is approx. 2.5", the same diameter of the zoom ring on the PZ 16-50mm OSS lens.

Compact, solid, and effective—your lens’s new best friend
✅ What I Loved High-quality aluminum build – The anodized finish feels durable and precise, and it's much more rigid than plastic hoods I’ve used. Matte inner coating – Helps eliminate internal reflections beautifully; I noticed sharper contrast in my outdoor portraits. Perfect thread fit – Screws onto my 67 mm lenses (Nikon, Canon, Sony) with no wobble or cross-thread issues—very confidence-inspiring. Low-profile flare protection – Both rectangular and petal designs block stray light well without adding bulk—ideal for street or travel use. ⚠️ Considerations Fixed size only – Works great for any 67 mm lens, but if you switch to different thread sizes frequently, you’ll need adapters. Price vs. plastic alternatives – A bit more expensive than entry-level plastic hoods—but for the metal build and performance, I think it’s worth it. 🎯 Ideal For: DSLR/mirrorless photographers – Especially those shooting landscapes, portraits, street scenes, or video, where flare control is critical. Travelers/nature shooters – Rugged aluminum and compact size make it perfect for on-the-go gear. Hybrid shooters (photo + video) – A solid hood prevents lens glare and gives your footage a sharper, more professional look. 💡 Quick Tips: Match the petal shape – Double-check you’ve got the petal or round style that complements your lens’s angle of view. Store properly – Its metal construction is durable, but avoid scratching by keeping it in a protective pouch or soft pocket. Pair with filters – Use it alongside your UV or polarizer filter—better flare resistance while preserving your glass quality. 🎤 Final Thoughts The SIOTI 67 mm Lens Hood is a thoughtfully designed, robust accessory that offers real-world benefit in glare reduction and contrast improvement. Not a budget impulse buy—but if you’re after something more durable and effective than typical plastic hoods, this one delivers. My only wish? Stop including lens caps—but that’s a minor gripe for a piece of gear I’ll likely hang onto. Want it? Just make sure it's the right thread size—and you're golden. Shoot on!

Fits perfectly on my Olympus Pen-F !
Fits perfectly on my Pen-F with the Olympus Digital ED 14-42mm EZ power mini zoom lens. You can even attach the hood to a lens filter and it still won’t cause vignetting at the widest [28mm equivalent in this case] point and the Olympus 37mm lens cap snaps perfectly into the hood very tightly if you don’t want to use the 58mm one that came with the hood. Well made quality aluminum lens hood with matte black inside the hood to minimize any stay light that might effect your image. Great quality for less than $8. Will buy an extra just in case I lose this one. Great job SOITI for making the perfect lens hood for the Olympus M.Zuiko ED 14-42mm f3.5-5.6 EZ lens when Olympus never did. Thanks !

Yes, but
I feel badly for giving the this item a three star. It's a nice lens shade at a very low price. The usual Leica shades are very, very expensive. This one is nicely made and just the right design for a wide angle lens. The problem lies in that fact that it does not fit any Leica lens I have with 39mm filter threads. Anyone who is a Leicaphile knows that 39mm is the magic number for a bunch of Leica lenses. This shade is very nicely marked 39mm but it doesn't fit anything. It was very inexpensive so I will keep it in my odds and ends of photographia box in hopes that it will fit something sometime. I guess better luck next time. In any case, it's not a big deal.
