Explode the Code 1 1/2-6 1/2 Books SET (Phonics review and reinforcement) Review: Great Books for Reading Interventions - I am an elementary school teacher (4th grade) and was told by coworker about these books. They are great for helping catch up my struggling readers during our reading intervention time. The lessons follow a pattern of set activities, that go up in complexity, as you go up in levels through the books. I haven't received any training on how to use these books and don't own the teaching manuals, but my co-worker has used them for years and assured me that I wouldn't need any help using these. I also use the lessons to talk about new/ confusing vocabulary, use the word parts to try and make new words, and have my 4th graders write really good at least 5-word sentences on the last page of each lesson. The lessons take around 2-3 (1/2 hour) intervention blocks to get through. I highly recommending getting the entire set of books. Review: Good investment - Love these books. Used with my kids 15yrs ago and now using with my grandkids.
