Great - just great
Works perfectly- need to do it 2-3 times it cuts a perfect top of the shell from the narrower side of the egg. Usually very clean cut 🤣. I have the original one with the ball dropping type of mechanism - it works well as well.

A great device - cracks with 2 snaps and can open. May need to use a knife to finish the job afterwards.
This is America Test Kitchen's highest recommended egg cracker. I tried it on about.. 50 eggs so far and here's my review: Yes it does work. Two snaps will crack the egg, but not a clean cut. By clean cut I mean surgical line cut. No, it won't do that. I thought it would and I was disappointed at first. After trying other brands and checking with my friends, I realized that no cutter makes a clean surgical line. All egg cutters will dent and roughly cut the egg shells and a bit of manipulation by hand, by knife, or by twisting and turning the cutter is still required to remove the egg top. And the cut line won't be surgically clean. A bit jagged edge or cracked egg (down the egg) is normal and expected. The egg is covered by a white outer membrane and the membrane gets sticky and stiff after cooking, so that's what causing the shells to not cut surgically as I had dreamed for (albeit incorrectly). To make that surgical line, you need to use the topper to dent the shells and then use a sharp kitchen knife to finish the job. So, have the correct and proper expectations. Anyway, having said all that......... After about 50 eggs: 1. Use the topper to "cut" or "dent" the eggs with 2 snaps. 2. Twist and lift the topper off at an angle in attempt to peel off the egg top that's been scored/dented/cut by the topper. 3. Use a kitchen knife to finish the job. It is often needed despite best use of this tool. Eggs just aren't 100% uniform in size, shape, and shell rigidity. From eggs 40 to 50 (the last 10), having thoroughly experienced with the tool: 4 out of 10 eggs required a bit kitchen knife touch up after using the topper. The other 6 resulted in egg top removal without the need of additional knife work.

Soft Boiled Eggs Like A Pro
America's Test Kitchen was right. This thing is fabulous and really elevated our soft boiled egg experience. It's easy to use and doesn't really take much practice. All my kids (under 10) can do it. And they think it's fun! It also feels really well made like it will last years

Love it!
I love soft boiled eggs. I make them all the time. I recently was watching a movie about Winston Churchill and he had this soft boiled egg in an egg cup and was dipping little strips of bread in them. Well this was much different than my presentation. I cracked the eggs and put them in a bowls with cut up pieces of buttered toast. I decided I needed to up my game and be able to crack my egg in an elegant fashion. I started my search and ended up finding out about this little devise. It works like a charm. I still do my toast the same (after trying the Winston Churchill way) I decided mine was a bit more tasty. I do love cracking my egg with this little device. The egg comes out perfect every time. I did watch a video on how to do it and that helped. It also gets easier with time. If someone in your life likes soft boiled eggs this is a perfect addition to their life!

Perfect for both soft-boiled and hard-boiled eggs. Great quality.
Still cracking egg shells using a knife or spoon? Stop that silliness and get this egg cracker. Sure, it will take you a few eggs to get used to how to do it right (it takes much less effort and care than you think it should). But the tops come off without fail, cut (cracked) cleanly. I use this for soft-boiled eggs, which I think is the intended application. But my wife uses it (surprisingly) for hard-boiled eggs (to get the shell to start to come off without having to knock the egg against the counter). Once you start using this tool, you'll never go back to the old way. This one is of excellent quality, has now lasted thru many dishwasher cycles, and appears sturdy enough to be the last one we'll ever need to buy. Wouldn't it be nice if every little kitchen appliance and tool you bought was the last one you ever had to buy? I can't say this is the last egg cracker we'll ever buy, but if this one lasts us, say, five years, I'll come back and update this review. And now, six and a half years later, there is no sign of deterioration. It has lasted, without any sort of failure. Why is it not possible to give a product ten stars?!

Works well for firm eggs, disaster for 5-minute eggs
I bought this after viewing all the reviews. The video showing how it works is very important as it comes with no descriptions of how to use it. The plunger is spring loaded. So when you pull it up to the top and then release it, it gives a specific amount of force to the egg shell at the cracker edge. For an egg which is boiled for more than 8 minutes, the egg is firm enough to receive the force and the egg cracker does its function and will provide a neat cut. But for eggs only boiled for 5 minutes for people who likes to eat under cooked eggs, DO NOT USE THIS CRACKER!!!!! The egg white will not be firm enough to sustain the plunger force. So the egg will be shattered resulting in a big mess of under-cooked egg content on the holder, hand, and the shirt. If the plunger is pulled halfway to have less plunger force, then it would not crack the shell.

Good for large eggs
Nice size, works on large eggs, but does take a little bit of practice to get the hang of cracking an egg. Fun to use!

Excellent tool
I used one of these for the first time in England and it was a revelation. I ate a lot of soft boiled eggs with toast soldiers as a child but remember the issues of cutting off the top and trying to get all the bits of shell out. These toppers make very easy work of the process and will put soft boiled eggs back on my menu. It does take a little practice to get the "thwack" exactly right but once you do, it is very easy. My first practice session involved four eggs: Two soft boiled and two raw. Contrary to the experience of some previous reviewers, I had no problem taking the top off of the raw eggs which, as per their suggestion, make adorable containers. One of the other reviewers mentioned breaking their ceramic egg cups so I bought some vintage stainless steel mid century modern ones for a few bucks on Ebay - feels like back home with Mum in the 1960s!

Firstly, I hold the egg in one hand. With the fingers on that hand, I hold the egg topper in place. With my other hand, I lift up the handle and let it go. For me, I have to do that 3 times, but your mileage might vary, depending on how strong or weak the shell is. It doesn't cut the top clean off, though. I have to use a sharp knife to run around the groove that it makes to finish the job. But it's much cleaner and easier. Also, the device itself feels sturdy. It doesn't feel like a cheap thing that will soon fall apart. I was sceptical, but I'm quite happy with it.

...but you have to lower your expectations. This device will reliably create a perfect seam around the top of the egg, allowing you to lift off the top carefully with a sharp knife. It worked easily the first time I used it, and somewhat more messily the second time. But it definitely works. This item is ridiculously overpriced for what it is,, but I love soft-boiled eggs! So I would repurchase.

Es sencillo, pero cómodo de usar, con dos golpes te hace el "recorte" perfecto.
