Gravity- Feed Steam Iron ~ Silver star ES-300

This has to be my favorite Amazon purchase ever! After working as a presser in a dry cleaners for over 15 years, I finally decided to see if there was a comparable iron for me to use at home. Well, this is it! First you will notice the weight of the iron, most retail irons try to sell themselves as being light weight as a plus but this is a misconception, a properly weighted iron will do the hard work for you. Couple that with the virtually endless steam and I can iron nonstop for a few hours. Granted, I love to iron, but this takes away all of my old frustrations. No more iron that spits, needs to be refilled every 15 minutes, dies after a few months and is so flimsy I have to lean into it to get enough pressure to do the job. The Iron ships with everything shown in the photo and my ONLY "complaint" is the length of the cord, this was resolved with the simple purchase of a heavy duty extension cord. Be sure to understand this is a GRAVITY FED steam iron, that means the water tank needs to be above the level at which you are ironing. Solution: Put it on a heavy duty hanger and work near a place to hang it. PS There are a couple of other brands that seemed similar but I chose Silver Star because it was one of the primary brands we used at our dry cleaners, I knew their products to be of high quality going back many decades and I was not disappointed at all after all these years!

Only lasted me 13 months. Iron turned off when in use and will not turn back on. What a disappointment. Don't waste your money.

This iron offers excellent performance at a competitive price point; I highly recommend it.

The seller did a wonderful job of wrapping and shipping the package. (Zipstop) I like that it includes the filter for the water and shoe to protect the iron sole. Also, the price was right for me. A few things I am not that happy about. First is the lack of directions for this first-time-gravity-iron owner. So directions would have been nice. Second, the handle does get really hot at the base. I'm sure I will find a fix for that. Third, the dial switch is a little funky and imprecise. As others have said, the direction leave much to be desired. I found a Youtube video titled, "Setup Guide - Silver Star Gravity Steam Iron ES-300 (Domestic & Industrial)". Short, detailed, and it really helped me. Unfortunately, they didn't include the inline filter in the directions and I could not get the water to flow into the tube. After a bit of searching, this is what I did: Directions for inline filter: Step 1: Attach the tube from the water bottle to the filter Step 2: Turn the water knob to start the flow. I put a bowl under it to catch the water. Step 3: Turn the water back off and attach the tube from the iron Step 4: After letting the tube sort of fill with water (for me it took a long time), heat the iron up and depress the steam button. Finally a full tube of water. There is probably a better way to do step 4 but it was trial and error for me. I hope this helps others that buy this iron. These types of reviews help me so I am passing it along. Also, I found a pretty good cord minder here on Amazon. It is actually too short for me but it keeps the cord out of the way. I like that it came with the external charcoal filter instead of using charcoal in the water container. Solid iron has weight to it. Easy to set up and use. Very similar to a high-end commercial iron I had before at half the price. Silicone mat is nice, but for longer use, I would put another layer below it of something that won't conduct the heat through to your table.

After 4 months of use, this much needed iron won't turn on. I've been a professional tailor for 43 years and this is the worst experience I've had with a piece of equipment! This is very frustrating.

Very compact and easy to use. The package arrived before the due date and was well packaged. The usageinstructions are very simple and easy to follow. The quality of ironing is far superior to the average commercial irons in the market. I have had it only for a couple of weeks and am hoping it lasts as long as typical commercial irons with less power do.

La verdad es muy buena plancha, hay que seguir bien las instrucciones de instalación aunque no es nada complicado pero cualquier detalle puede hacer que tire agua en lugar de vapor, la verdad ha sido una excelente compra recomiendo el producto, ya que hay otras que son imitaciones y soportan menor tiempo de carga de trabajo.
