The GNU Emacs 24.4 Reference Manual [Stallman, Richard M.] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The GNU Emacs 24.4 Reference Manual Review: Well, I think it rocks - I'm not sure why everyone is so down on this book. I received mine today (along with the Org Mode manual from the same publisher). The paper is fine (white and opaque), the binding is sturdy, and the printing is large and crisp. I think what people are objecting to is that this book is not printed by the Free Software Foundation, but by an independent publisher. It's hardly a "pirate" copy, though -- even Richard Stallman would tell you that the "free" in "free documentation" means you may publish it or even rewrite it yourself if you meet certain conditions. I seldom rate books 5 stars, but this is just what I wanted. Review: No official printing of GNU Emacs 24.4 Manual exists - The FSF has not yet printed an official GNU Emacs 24.3 or GNU Emacs 24.4 manual. The latest official print is for GNU Emacs 24.2. Please be aware of this when you purchase this book. Keep in mind that GNU Emacs manual is always available with-in GNU Emacs itself via the help system, or in many other formats including EPUB and PDF. If you are at least partially purchasing the print form of the manual in order to give your money to the authors, please wait for the official printing.

... this is a solid, good printed reference of the GNU Emacs manual. Good paper, good print. Nothing less. I think it fits perfectly with the GPL and Stallman would not object. I could not think of a place where I could print and bind a book of 589 pages for this price. The only thing I can not verify in this concept are modified contents - I don't have the resources to scan the complete book and compare it to the official 24.4 manual.

Comprehensive manual, was surprised at the quality of finishing. The cover feels and looks like it was assembled in a two tone print bureau.
