Amazing tool.
I bought this to run plumbing and electrical through studs. Professional quality, made for quick and effortless work. Worth every penny.

i was really surprised at the really fine quality and the lower decibel levels of the unit ...
As an old guy, weight of a tool is really important to me...The Makita DA4000LR weighed in at 8.1 lbs and the closest competition was the Dewalt DW120k which came in at 9.75 lbs. That 2 lbs is VERY noticeable to me! When the Makita was delivered, i was really surprised at the really fine quality and the lower decibel levels of the unit compared to other 1/2" drills like the dewalt and the milwaukee...The only negative was the storage case which is strong on the outside, but weak on the inside, and arrived with a tear inside. Since there is no way to order a case separately, Amazon was nice enough to make an adjustment, as the drill is even better than I could have even hoped for!

Fits everywhere! Great drill.
Awesome. My first right angled drill. I’ve used it successfully for nearly all of my drilling over a half inch. Doesn’t over heat, even after several repetitive uses with a 7/8’s self feeding auger. Originally I was concerned with the lack of clutch because right angled drills can bind and cause bodily harm. However, the pistol grip on this drill helps eliminate this and I personally have not had a single issue. Also it fits everywhere you want. The selling point to me vs other brands was that it switched to a traditional drill by removing the angled shaft and reattaching the head. It works but I have yet to use or need this feature. At nearly the same price as competitors, I’d rather have it and not use it....

Not enough torque for use as a plumber, electrician or builder, I was disappointed
Looks like my old Rigid drill but that’s as close as it gets, lack power (torque) seems to struggle to get through thicker lumber, just not sufficient power to use as a contractor drilling through studs & flooring.

Great drill
So far I have to say it's an excellent drill and would recommend it to any one. Only bad thing I have to say about it is the crappy case they give you.

Powerful enough and quiet
I have owned this drill for about 3 years. I am an electrician and use the drill almost daily. I've never had it run out of power (although when I'm drilling through more than 6 inches of wood I will reduce my bit down to 3/4 inch. The plastic collar of the side handle has broken a little after getting dropped on a wood subfloor in 30 degree weather, but I think that's almost to be expected. What I like most is that it's light (which means a lot when you are carrying it up and down a ladder all day, and that it's quiet!! This is a big plus because often the drill is only a couple feet from your ears. I know I could wear hearing protection but it's easier to just buy a quiet drill. Today I'm buying a second one for another employee I've been so pleased!

The Makita tools are far superior to other brands
I used to use Milwaukee electric drills and battery powered tools. Once I bought and used the Makita, I'll never go back to another brand. The Makita tools are far superior to other brands. We use them in the electrical industry every day all day long and the Makita are the best. This right angle drill has as much power as the Milwaukee but is much lighter. I would highly recommend them to anyone. The only problem that I had with the right angle tool was the shipping. The box was dented pretty bad. Don't know if it was shipped that way or was damaged in shipment. But the tool itself was fine and I didn't need the box anyway.
