One of the best instant decaf coffees out there
I more or less gave up caffeine. For the most part I prefer brewing my own coffee, but there are times when the simplicity of instant coffee is really appealing. I have tried a number of different instant decaf coffees and Waka is one of the best. It's smooth and has a great flavor. Also, instant coffee often has, for lack of a better term, "instant twang": this mild background flavor that all instant coffees seem to have. Different coffees have this twang in different amounts. One of the things I liked about Waka is that the twang is minimal and also much less than most other instant coffees out there.

Best instant decaf coffee I’ve ever tasted!
When my heart started having palpitations from drinking caffeine I thought my coffee drinking days were over. The caffeine withdrawals, the headaches and body aches were horrible. Glad I got that out of my system but let me tell you - I missed the smell and taste. So I started drinking decaf. As many of you could attest - most decaf coffees are pathetically distasteful. Being that I only drink one cup a day I didn’t want to invest in a machine. So my quest for a good cup of instant decaf began. It took two years for me to find Waka Instant Decaf & I feel like I’ve struck coffee gold! The taste is perfectly smooth with body and a wonderful aroma. Try it! You won’t be sorry. Oh & don’t forget to visit them online for recipes like dolgana coffee. There’s life after caffeine!

Nice flavor, a little pricey
I'm not sure this is really any different than nescafe or something like that. I got this to have an instant option for evenings or another time that I didn't want caffeine but I wanted coffee flavor. It seems to have good flavor and stirs/mixes smoothly with hot water. I do wonder if it's just repackaged nescafe in little travel packets. Presentation is nice though and it's not too expensive for the added travel utility.

WAKA makes delicious instant coffee!
I may not be the best person to comment on the qualities of WAKA Instant Coffee due to how I prefer to drink it, but I can tell you I am a huge fan. I heat 10 to 12 ounces of skim and 1% milk. I add it to my mug in which I have placed approximately 2 teaspoons of the coffee. Sometimes I add a bit of half and half, but it really is not necessary. My method results in a creamy, smooth, just sweet-enough coffee beverage. I drink mostly decaf but I have tried the regular as well. Both of them are medium roast 100% Arabica Colombian coffee. Recently I ordered more of the decaf. I received caffeinated coffee that had been mislabelled "decaffeinated" by Amazon. I sent a message to WAKA. They apologized, refunded the money I had spent, and sent me the correct coffee, straight from WAKA! Great customer service! I am completely satisfied with the product and the service. I will definitely purchase more WAKA coffee when I run out.

Better than an average instant coffee, but...
While this coffee has no sour taste as majority of the instant coffee that you find on the shelves, it has no much taste , not even close to a taste of a good ground coffee. Even with the sale price is higher than Davidoff instant coffee that in my mind is better.

Doesn’t taste like instant
COVID brought an end to my daily coffee ship latte habit. For health reasons, I hv to drink decaf. I live alone so don’t want to make a pot of coffee. My kitchen is tiny so didn’t want a coffee maker. Can’t remember how I discovered Waka Instant but it is a treasure. I’m saving money, can make a cup at a time, it’s easy and the coffee is great. Not “great for decaf” - just great coffe period, with no caveats or disclaimers.

Comparing 5 Brands of Instant Coffee Packets
I like coffee that tastes like coffee beans, not like emaciated grocery store brands from the Fifties. I’ve always thought Starbucks fresh coffee tastes “burnt” so I stopped going there in favor of “The Human Bean” in Phoenix. And after reading about the owner of Starbucks, I did this subjective taste test to try and find an instant I could live with to “instantly” move away from giving my money to Starbucks Via. In my comparison of five brands, I used one teaspoon of instant and ¾ cup of hot water in each brand, kept it just black, and tasted it hot. Next, I added one teaspoon of heavy cream and 10 drops of Sweet Leaf brand vanilla-flavored extract and tasted it hot. Then, I waited until it cooled to room temp and tasted it again. Here are my personal findings with 5 being “worst”: 5. Waka Decaf – Slightly sour and brackish, tastes “instant” and gets worse as it cools. An absolute “no.” (1 packet per 8-10 oz.) 4. Jacobs Espresso – Watery, thin, and so “smooth” as to be tasteless, and they have the nerve to call this “espresso”? (No English instructions I could find—I guess they didn’t think it was worth the bother—and they’re probably right.) 3. Mt. Hagen Espresso – Also too smooth and lacking in taste, but has a wee more grunt and flavour than Jacobs. (1 packet per cup—I assume they mean 8 oz.) 2. Café Bustelo Espresso – Definitely better than the others but still “middle of the road” when it comes to true bean flavour. At least it tastes like coffee, even when cool. 1. Via Decaf Italian – IF you mix as instructed (1 packet per 8 oz.), it's too strong and has a slightly burnt taste . However, you can make a perfect travel mug of coffee by adding 16-20 ounces of hot water instead and just one packet of this very robust, powerful instant that actually tastes brewed. You also get two times more coffee for the money, via Via, because the packet makes such strong coffee. My tastebuds have failed to escape the Starbucks czar with this test, so maybe I should give those Fifties store brands another go.
