Rugged Ridge Textured Black Hood Catch - Pair

It's amazing how much better quality these are than the cheaply made and poorly functioning OEM latches that came with my Jeep JK Rubicon Unlimited. Install took me 50 minutes and that's mainly because I was working slowly to make sure I was doing it correctly. They look so much better and the hood flutter on the highway is gone. I read plenty of reviews on here that said you should remove the front grill to access the lower passenger side nut. That is NOT necessary at all! With one hand, simply pass a ratchet with a 13mm socket up from the bottom of the fender up towards your other hand where nut is located (make sure the ratchet handle is facing upwards). Fit the socket over the nut to work it free with the ratchet and then remove it with your fingers. So easy! No extenders or anything else is necessary. For the top, all you need is a 10mm socket/ratchet and a 4mm Allen wrench. For the bottom, all you need is a 13mm socket/ratchet and 2 4mm Allen wrenches. I used a crescent wrench to tighten the nuts on the lower assembly once everything was latched.

I really love these hood catches and they are the perfect replacement for the OEM hood catches or whatever else you currently have now. I bought these black textured hood catches for my 2011 Call of Duty Black Ops Rubicon as I was concerned that they will eventually weather and rot. The instructions were not written as well as they could have been. Not included in the parts list 6 washers (which I found buried in the bottom of the box after I had completed the installation) and the 2 hood bumpers, which I found to be much better than the stock OEM bumpers. The installation was somewhat difficult concerning the lower anchor catch assembly. I have small hands and found it very trying to get the 13mm nuts threaded. The upper catch assembly was very easy and after getting the bottom catch installed, the rest of the installation went easily. I do see that the finish may be easily weathered so I will take everything off in late spring or so to put the washers on and coat everything in spray on bed liner. I can't have enough black on my black Jeep! These hood catches are very sturdy and I feel will outlast anything I had looked at before I bought these. It would be nice if every Wrangler came with these or something similar. Minor things aside, I would recommend these clearly superior hood catches to anyone with a Wrangler. Touches as these makes a Jeep more solid where it really counts.

These hood latches went on easily, I had to remove top grill clips and pull the grill forward to access and loosen the passenger side nut. Some reviews I read mentioned the latch might rub the hood but that is not possible. They have a rubber base that holds them up so there is no contact to the hood when latched. They look and work a lot better than factory latches. They came with all the hardware and rubber hood stops. I decided to reuse the factory nuts that don’t require a washer over the supplied lock nuts and washers. No more hood flutter so now I don’t have to slow down driving into a headwind.

feels like a great product. I put it on my JK yesterday. Wasn't too bad to install. The access to the inner bolt was little tricky (I removed my grill to gain a slightly better access), but otherwise it was an easy install. It looks nice and beefy on the Jeep and it does feel very solid. I think Chrysler should install these right at the factory. Let's see how it does over time. It's from Aluminum, so I dont expect any rust issues but we will see and time will tell. So far, I am pretty impressed by the build quality and how great it fits the Jeep (and how well it functions)

About to purchase my 2nd set. No complaints at all. Lasted 5 yrs! These helped a ton with hood noise and flapping on the freeway. The only thing to note is that after about 4 yrs the coating peeled & faded. On year 5 I'm unsure if the dealership broke one latch or if it was natural wear and tear and broke on its own. Still great life for the price.

Installed on a 2012 JKU Sahara What a difference. I live in the High Desert of Los Angeles County, and we get some pretty significant wind up here. With the stock hood latches, I let seeing my hood fluttering when driving into headwinds, or even going over 50mph on the freeway. Yeah, I know, a Jeep, going over 50? Is that even possible? It's true! It's happened a few times! Anyway, installation was relatively straightforward. YouTube has a bunch of videos on installing them, so grab your trusty ratchet set and get to it! You might scrape up your hands a bit as the nut for the bottom portion is a bit of a pain to get to, but hey...scrapes are just a small sacrifice to the Jeep gods, right? Cinched the hood down nice and tight, and looks good too.

My wife has always wanted a jeep, So we bought her a new to her 2017 Rubicon. She told me that the hood was moving when she drove on the highway. I was able to confirm that the factory rubber hold downs had become a little loose and at highway speeds, the hood would flutter. These hood clamps definitely did the trick, no more hood movement. From start to finish took me 40 minutes to install the new clamps. I did have to remove the grill, but it was really easy. I did reuse the factory nuts because they had a bigger washer. But I also applied Lock tight to the threads to ensure the nuts would not come loose. Pros: 40 min install, no more hood flutter, the hardware is good quality, adjustable. Cons: no real cons, we will see how they hold up over time

These lock down the hood of your jeep tight and will not fade or weaken due to weather. Easy install in less than 20 minutes and are adjustable. Recommend these.

Bought this product after one of my latches (stock) snapped off while driving on a windy day. After contemplating purchasing another stock latch for a much cheaper price I went with the aluminum to alleviate hood flutter and liked the heavy duty look of these. Great product, extremely easy to install, completely eliminated hood flutter. Would highly recommend over stock latches.

Nice and sturdy. Look good. Tight fitting (with rubber stopper to prevent the hood rattling against the body). Only issue was the washers that come with it don't fit, had to source so others.

when I used to drive past a big truck hood would flutter now its so solid no movement at all. pretty easy to install very happy

Feel durable and definitely gets rid of the loose hood and makes the Jeep look more appealing, no rust have had it for a few months now( winter season) and no signs of paint flaking either
