Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading Somewhere I'll Find You: A Historical Romance of London's Elite Society and Mysterious Alliances (Capitol Theatre Book 1). Review: Passion, Secrets, and Pure Magic - Julia Wentworth, London's leading lady, hides a shocking secret. She's married to a man she's never met. Enter Damon Savage, her secret husband, who's just discovered the woman he's been hunting is the one he desperately desires. Cue explosive chemistry, fiery independence, and a battle of wills you won't forget. With its unforgettable characters and sizzling romance, Somewhere I'll Find You is a must-read for historical romance lovers. Review: A Look into the Regency Acting World - FINAL DECISION: A different type of story about child marriages, a marchioness turned actress and two people who have to learn to compromise. Don't read this if you are going to nitpick the story. THE STORY: Julia is an actress who has finally gotten a position in a respectable theater. She is living her dream of independence. Her heart stays her own, and she has a big secret. Damon, Marquess of Savage is searching for the bride his father married him to as a child. The heiress has fled her family. Damon is shocked to find out that the woman he has been married to for years is none other than the actress he wanted for his mistress. OPINION: I really enjoyed this book. Is it unrealistic? perhaps, but if you regularly read my reviews you should know that I will forgive a lot of historical inaccuracies, plot holes, grammatical errors, etc for a good story with characters that I fall in love with. Does it seem reasonable that a aristocratic woman would abandon her family, become an actress and eventually become a duchess. Maybe not, but this is one great story anyway. Julia is a woman who wants to make her own independent decisions. If she was born in modern times, she would fit right in, but in her times, she is disinherited by her father and on the run from her "husband". Is she too obsessed with her independence? Perhaps it seems so to our modern sensibilities, but in her time, when men owned their wives, is it unreasonable to be worried about losing your independence when your husband could control everything that you could do? Or when your father could marry you off when you are a little child. I loved how Kleypas brings the opposing forces of Julia and Damon each wanting control. After both were stripped of control by their parents each wants to be in total control of their lives. Damon has made himself into a completely responsible predictable gentleman because his father was irresponsible -- resulting in Damon being offered in marriage to Julia (when both were small children) in order to save the family coffers. The lesson Damon learned from that was that he needed to control his circumstances. He struggles with Julia who will not submit to his control. Even worse, he ultimately realizes that she would not be the Julia he falls in love with if she did. The story of how Julia and Damon navigate their desire for control and their trust issues was what kept me turning pages. The characters sparkled off the pages, their pain and struggle and intense attraction to one another kept me interested until the very end. The secondary characters also were full of life. The best story is one where I could imagine all the relationships and intrigues involved and this one does a great job at that. I only took of a star because I have read better books by Kleypas, so I know that she has pushed these boundaries even further with even better characters. I can't wait for the next book about Logan Scott. He's got some story. WORTH MENTIONING: I loved the epilogue which was necessary for this book to show how these two adapted to one another and continued to evolve their relationship. CONNECTED BOOKS: SOMEWHERE I'LL FIND YOU is the first book in the Capital Theatre series. STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

Ok Wow
The first historical romance i ever read was by Lisa Kleypas. I forgot how much I love her writing style. Over the past 10 years I've only ever reread some of her books so I always knew what to expect. I accidentally bought this on Kindle but decided since I had it I might as well read it. Julia and Damon are such well rounded characters with with such clear strengths and faults. I love how you can feel the the pain of these characters when it comes to the tough decisions they have to make. They clearly love each other but are both too stubborn to give up the lives they've created for themselves. The undeniable pull that kept bringing them together even before they knew their connection was so much fun to read. This was absolutely thrilling to read and I could not put it down.

There was good & bad here
I wouldn't say this is Kleypas' best, but it's still an above-average offering for historical romances. The book is really more of a 3.5 star read, and that's in comparison to other Kleypas books I've read. (Which probably isn't fair, but that's how I roll.) The premise for this story is interesting & caught my attention right away. Some of the ways the plot played out seemed a little silly to me, unfortunately, but it remained interesting. Damon & Julia were wed as children, at the tender ages of 7 & 4 respectively, and then they were kept separate with the intention of reuniting them when they were older. This parental betrayal (the marriage, not the separation..though the separation was also a problem) results in understandable emotional injuries to both characters as they mature. The resulting story is sweet, though at times Julia's resistance to Damon's proclamations of love is irksome. She often comes across as more focused on self-preservation than on mutual love & respect. However, this attitude makes sense coming from her and does prove appropriate for putting Damon in a position to offer respect with his love. Even though he couldn't understand Julia's love for acting, he had to be able to accept her as she was. I loved how much of the story took place within the theater. As a theater lover, getting to read about the scandalous position of actors & actresses back then was a bit of a treat. It's certainly not the norm for historical romances and offered a refreshing change of scenery. Some of the dialogue seemed a bit tedious to me, and Julia was a bit more wishy washy than I'm used to, but her fears were understandable. I actually enjoyed Damon far more than Julia, probably BECAUSE he had to prove himself to her. He was a pretty sexy, determined man. I appreciated that, unlike so many romances, the hero had to fight for the heroine to love him. (I get a little tired of heroines who have to be sweet & innocent to win over the hero. It's fun, but still, a change is refreshing.) So overall, this was a good read, though not Kleypas' best. The plot & setting were original, which I enjoyed. The hero was hot, which I also enjoyed. The heroine was bit meh, but overall, I still enjoyed her. The dialogue could've been better, but it was still above the norm. If you're a Kleypas fan, be aware that this isn't a Wallflower book, but it certainly deserves to stand in its own right. If you've never read Kleypas, try the Wallflower series first. You'll still enjoy this, but it doesn't showcase Kleypas' talents quite as well. The next book in the series, Because You're Mine , was better written, in my opinion. You can also find a final offering for the characters in short story form in A HISTORICAL CHRISTMAS PRESENT , with I Will, which tells the tale of Andrew, Lord Drake (who appears in Because You're Mine). Personally I would've liked a story about Damon's younger brother, William, but so far there isn't one. After his introduction in this book, I really expected one.

I love this!
A marchioness who runs off to be an actress under a different name. A husband searching for her to annul the marriage. He sees an actress who turns out to be his wife. Can he get her to fall in love with him? I absolutely love this book. Neither wanted the marriage and avoided it. I loved that all of his searching that she was in England under an assumed name. Lisa Kleypas is awesome. I recommend this book.

5 Sterne für 'Somewhere I'll find you'! ('Somewhere I'll find you' stellt Logan Scott vor dessen Geschichte in 'Because you're mine' erzählt wird)

Loved the storyline....not the run of the mill that you read in regency romances....mmaybe it could have been shorter. But it is definitely one of the best novels from Ms.Lisa Kleypas

The first in Kleypas' Capitol Theatre series is another devastatingly sensual tale… This time featuring renowned actress Julia Wentworth. She's the toast of Victorian London but not-a-lot-of people know that she is actually a runaway bride. Or rather a runaway child bride, because she was married as a child to Damon Savage, who was himself a child at the time. Both of their lives have been marred by this illegal marriage which was organised by their fathers - her's a social climber eager for a title, his an impoverished Lord looking for a dowry. Julia ran away and became an actress, Damon stayed to save his family from his father's ruinous investments. But when she finally meets Damon she is drawn to him, but there is one thing she will never risk, her career or her independence, something Damon is bound to put in jeopardy when he discovers her true identity. That delicious conflict gives rise to a magnificent novel, and the backdrop of the theatre and the actor manager Logan Scott sets us up brilliantly for the second book….
