The new version is perfect!
I got this in 2021 (it's currently 2024) and the mesh just started to rip. I think that's pretty fair for a product that gets used this often. Yes, some worms wiggle through the mesh but you just pour that water over the net when you're rinsing them and they're back with the rest of the worms, it's really not complicated. I took off one star because I wish the lid was more secure. I've had this for three years and have had only 3 instances of a roommate bumping it and spilling worms in the fridge. And sometimes if the worms don't have enough room they'll get into the rim of the lid. I've never had a worm successfully sneak out of the box and I almost never lose a worm when I'm cleaning them. I'm buying a replacement, I think this is a good product. Edit: in the description it says they made the lid tighter and the mesh smaller in 2022 so that's cool Update: I've been using this for a few months and it's perfect. I haven't had a single worm slip through the mesh and the lid is more snug.

Extends the life of live blackworms
Understand this is just the box to keep the worms in. You will need to purchase your live blackworms elsewhere. After receiving the box, I purchased 1/2 ounce live blackworms from my local fish store. That was about 8 weeks ago. The remaining worms are still alive and look good. I only add enough water to fill the bottom container and just barely let the water come through to the top container. The worms do crawl up the sides. I just use cold water or a gloved finger to push them back down. I would purchase this box again. Well Wirth the money, as it extends the life of worms, saving money in the future.

Doesn't drain
I only gave one star because I had to. I'm very disappointed. The box doesn't drain which is the whole reason I got it. So that I can rinse my blackworms. Instead it overflows sending worms down the drain. $20 wasted.

Worked great after the first few days.
UPDATE - The first few days large clumps of worms fell through. After that it stopped. I finally fed all my worms to my tank and checked and didn’t find where the worms fell through the first few days. I used my black worm keeper for the first time. I got black worms yesterday and lifted the top out and noticed that half the worms were underneath. They must have fallen through somehow. Apparently the mesh is not secured to the plastic very well. I was disappointed. I recall reading other reviews saying the same.

OMG it made my life easier!
Love the double floor, the net doesn't keep them completely up but it's no big deal, it's totally normal as some of the smallest worms can squeeze their body through the net, which is seeeeriously small. Any smaller and the debris would stay up with the worms, so to me is really perfect. Let's say 2% of the worms end at the bottom, but when I do a water change, I just pour them with water and everything at the top and use a plastic tupper underneath just to make sure I don't lose any down the drain. Very easy to keep them at the surface of the water. I added a bit of gravel on the net basket to make it easier to shake them and make them fragment. But overall I am pleased with the container, it's sturdy, good quality. The net is good quality too and very very small. I ended buying a second one to have 2 cultures going at the same time. I think it's a tad pricey tbh but I rather have these than a regular tank because the water changes are just sooo easy to do.

A bit disappointed!
I've had a similar design in the past from another supplier and it worked great. This one however allows the worms to make it into the bottom. When we pull the screened part out it's filled with worms lodged in the screen that we can't get out. Half the worms are in the bottom of the container and almost half of what's left are stuck in the screen. Will be ordering the brand I used to use to replace this. The only positives are it's thick material that would last and it is easy to pour out the bad stuff because of the sloped sides.
