Very impressed so far
Only a few days in, but I'm very happy with this watch. The case is substantial, it's easy to read the high contrast dial, and the crystal is glass, not plastic. I even like the machining grooves on the sides of the case. They also engraved the battery size and lug width on the back cover - first time I've seen that. I expect the fancy stitched leather band to wear out fairly fast, but in the meantime it looks great. Timex proves the power of mass production and good QC to make a watch this good at such a low price.

Nice watch, band is a little small.
It's a beautiful watch. Sleek and simple. The light up face is kinda cool. However, if you are a big guy like me you might have a hard time with the band. I was only able to use the first notch. Apparently it's meant for men with skinny wrists.

Classic Timex workhorse with Indiglo
Great little watch from the tried and true Timex brand. Battery powered so convenient, have always liked the flex bands and the Indiglo is a must! Have a pretty large watch collection and have several Timex because of the classic styling and Indiglo features. The Epedition is a nice classic no nonsense daily driver.

Great Watch but dial smaller than expected. Same size as a Timex Easy Reader.
This review mainly serves as a reminder for people who may not look close enough before they place the order. This watch is a good watch and I receive a well-made product. Very comfortbale on wrist. Looks great. Very good value for its price. I am kind of a Timex fan, owning a few Timex watches for quite some years. One was bought in 2001 and just started not working last year. This Expedition's quality is just like all other Timex watches I own: care free, well-built for its price, and long lasting, which I believe this one will also be. The reason I am buying this Expedition is I need a field watch that is big enough. The spec of this Expedition is listed as 40mm case diameter and I thought that should be big enough. Turns out the dial looks quite small when you have it on your wrist. The photo is a comparison between Timex Easy Reader (35mm case diameter) and this Expedition (40mm case diameter). You can see their dial diameter are pretty much the same. After measuring it is around 30mm-31mm. The Arabic numerals on the Expedition actually are smaller than the Easy Reader. Well I guess that's why they name it the Easy Reader. All in all, this Expedition looks and reads time smaller than your typical 40mm watch. Mostly it is becasue the bezel/frame takes out quite some real estate of the 40mm diameter which I didn't pay attention to when I ordered.

Takes a lickin and keeps on ticking.
For those of us who don't need Rolex, or even Bulova, written across the face of our watch, this Timex is a great (and affordable) choice -especially if your work or hobbies result in physical perils for your watch. I bought this Timex to replace my former Timex- pretty much the same model. After nearly 20 years of hard use, the old one's christal was scratched to the point of being hard to read. I'd worn out about eight watch bands but the watch never gave me a problem. The new watch, when it arrived, was easier to read, its night light, superb. I expect the same long life from it as from previous Timexes. and its nice to have a new one. The watch is attractive with an excellent leather band, and I think it is easier to set than my previous one. Overall, I'm very pleased with my watch and of course, it's reasonable price.

This is the watch for me.
I own three of these and am about to order a fourth. I have been wearing this same model for about fifteen years. I like to have three of them so that I can keep different colored bands on them to go better with whatever I'm wearing. I just use the original band until it wears out and then replace it with whatever band I want. It uses a 20mm band and a CR2016 battery, by the way. I keep one on a brown leather band and one on a black leather band for casual wear. And I keep another one on a black rubber watch band for swimming and sports use. These watches don't really seem to wear out, but I'm about to throw one away just because I messed up the back of the case changing the battery myself with makeshift tools too many times. In fact, one of the good things about a watch that only costs this much is you can use it for ten or fifteen years and then if something goes wrong with it, you don't feel bad about throwing it away and just buying a new one. :-) I go swimming with mine on all the time and have never had a problem with it being completely waterproof to normal swimming pool depths (5-8 feet). The white face and big numbers make it easy to read during the day. And I really like the Indiglo feature. Just push the button and the whole face lights up. The date is large enough to be readable too. I don't really get why some people spend so much money on watches when a good, reasonably priced Timex Expedition like this one tells the exact same time. Of course, looks are subjective, but I think it looks just as good too. You can't go wrong with this watch. It's ruggedly built and a great value. It will last you just as long as a watch costing ten or twenty times as much money. And it will tell you the very same time. Isn't that what a watch is all about?

You decide to go glamping. Camping with comfort. Since you are not twenty years old anymore and are finished sleeping on roots and rocks in a crappy tent half dead from alcohol poisoning. You rent a motorhome. One with all the hookups for electrics and plumbing, LED TV and lighting and a full kitchen. Hot water shower and an awesome bedroom. You have your site booked in Nova Scotia, ocean front and all the amenities. You pack all your clothes, hoodies, lumberjack shirts and camo pants and all. Now to pick a wristwatch. You settle on the Timex T40051 Expedition. Metal case, mineral glass (recessed) and a really fun dial with some color and pop. It has elements of traditional field watches. Not such a big case size (40mm) and 24 hour markers with a plain easy to read dial and photo luminescent hands and numbers. No usual Timex Indiglo light, but the lume will do just fine. It seems just the perfect style. Rugged and water resistant, fun colors and easy to read and stylish enough to wear while the barbeque cooks up something amazing for dinner. The genuine leather strap is comfortable and really well made. It keeps really good time, spot on with your cell phone, though you are mostly wearing it for fashion since you are on vacation. Goodbye deadlines!
