Heavy Duty Bike U Lock with 4ft Flex Bike Cable and Sturdy Mounting Bracket - 16mm, White

I have held off on buying a ulock because I have two water bottles holders mounted on my frame for long bike rides and most ulocks have to be mounted on the frame. This mounts on the seat post and can be installed in a matter of a couple minutes with just a screwdriver. I have a msall saddle bag on the back of my seat and no issues securing both the ulock and the small bag. The cable is nice as well if you live in a city that isn't very biker friendly like mine and doesn't have bike racks to mount it to. The lock is too small to go around a street light post and the cable is cable is long enough to use to mount to a street post if there is no bike racks nearby. The cable is also nice for added security if you run it through the wheels and attach it to the ulock when locking the frame to the bike rack I also own a scooter and if you can find a bike rack this works great for securing the scooter by putting the lock behind the front wheel in the frame and if no bike racks then I wrap the cable around a street post and put the ulock in the front wheel of the scooter and secure the cable that way With the seat mount if you have a bike rack on the back,, the lock will extend past the rack by ab out a half inch but that isn't a big deal. I have a small saddle bag on the back of my bike seat and with that and the ulock there is no room for the cable and I get around that by having a bungee cord on my bike rack and securing the cable that way and if I need to use the rack I'll just throw the cable in the bag.

The smaller one seems like a great lock. Beefy and solid. It probably won’t hold up to an actual attack but really this is more of a theft deterrent anyway. The larger one feels less solid. The rubber coating didn’t extend all the way on the shackle so it looks thinner. And the bar is loose-fitting which feels cheap. But I’m sure it’s as secure (or not) and should work as well as a 10 minute deterrent.

One of if not the cheapest U Lock on Amazon, I was happy to learn I sacrificed nothing by saving money on this device. The holder is clamped to the seat on my scooter and hold sturdy, but is very easy to use and remove the U Lock even as it renders bolt cutters useless. The cable of course is subject to cutting, and is slightly more burdensome to carry and use, but this is no design flaw on the manufacturer's part. That's just the nature of this category of product.

26.8 oz (without bracket), <2 lb Hint: make sure to insert the key fully before turning. It's copper, so it will bend/break easily if it is only partially inserted. (Copper is good for resisting corrosion, but it's soft) I bought this U lock because it is a good fit for my bike frame to a bike rack _without_ much extra space that would be needed to use a crowbar to break it. (It also weighs less than my larger Kryptonite) I have/had 2 similar locks (seem identical, different seller) and it took 90 min with a Dremel to get one off when we lost the keys. They had also survived a week at Hilton Head, which is notorious for stolen bikes. There there seem to be a few sellers selling this same lock under different listings - at least they look the same, and the keys have the exact same logo. Extra keys are not available, and they seem to be different from each other, at least for the 3 that we have received.

Do not buy this lock! Many people have had the same issue. Once you have the lock for a good bit of time the lock will no longer unlock with the key. I’ve had this lock for a year and it worked fine for many months but recently the lock would no open with the key and the key would either break inside the lock or just would not turn to open. Took me over an hour just to unlock my scooter last night because it just would not unlock until I wiggled it and kicked it a few times. This lock sucks! Do not buy! This has happened to me 4 times already I even had to get a new key because one broke inside the lock.

Just an fyi that this unit is smaller than the typical U lock you will find in a bike store, barely 6" x 3". Since it is about 1/3 of the price, I guess that makes sense. The U and cable seem like a decent thickness. The key is rather sophisticated looking. So, smaller is lighter, but it may not be able to get around all things. Also, the mounting bracket in my opinion is poorly designed, so it's going to stick out a little bit to the side after mounting on the down tube. Note in photo the angle of the bracket. Can't comment yet on whether or not it is secure, but it's good enough for a Huffy.
