Great belay device!
This device is fool proof and good for beginners who are worried they might drop themselves. This device can also be used for ascending, just make sure you're upper body is in shape if you're going to attempt it! Note: this device cannot be used if going double strand.

Excellent device from Petzel as always
I use this device for saddle hunting and I love it. I run a lineman rope and sticks to get started up the tree. Then I combined the grigi with a sterling’s rock n rescue 9mm rope to set my tether with prusik tender. I can move anywhere up or down. If I need to make a quick exit no problem.

Great for Saddle Hunting
Started using this to saddle hunt. It works incredibly well. No issues with slipping at all. It doesn't budge at all when you load it. Just make sure you switch to top rope on the selector switch, or you will have some slippage before it catches. It's super smooth to take up rope and to descend. I also wrap my carabiners with rubber to eliminate the metal-on-metal noise. I highly recommend!

Protects you from your instincts.
I thought that the anti panic function is for other people until I panicked. So I purchased one. It is protecting you from your basic instinct of grabbing on to something when you fall.

Nice new features
Toggling between lead and top rope settings really improved the belaying experience when using the grigri+ Another quality product in this outstanding series. No regrets at all.

Worth it!
My son loves this thing. We setup a rock climbing tree in our backyard and this is a great safety device for belaying my son down!

It’s a Grigri, only better, and heavier.
I like that this has the stainless wear plate and the adjustable tension on the side. I am not sold on the anti panic feature but I will say I really have not had a chance to get out and use it much. I have used the petzl ID with a similar feature for rope access work and I will say it can be annoying when the rope is not fully loaded. I imagine it’s not too hard to overcome and with practice will become easy to use. This is slightly heavier than a standard Grigri and even though they are similar in size. I was able to catch this on sale so the value for the money was hard to beat. Like all Petzl products, this is built from quality materials and I am sure it will perform well for a long time.
