Excellent lock at an affordable price!
I have installed many electronic deadbolts. This has the same functionality of Schlage or Kwikset deadbolts but at a fraction of the price. Pro: * I really like the physical buttons. I have used other electronic deadbolts with touch sensitive keypads. However, the humidity here in Florida makes those very flaky. * I like the automatic lock timer feature. It will lock the door even if I forget to do it. * The installation was very simple, much easier than Schlage or Kwikset products. The directions are very clear and tell you everything that you need to do. Don't forget to have the lock configure itself for left-hand or right-hand door. The lock will auto-detect which is nice. Con: * It took me a couple minutes to find the factory programming code. It is in the manual and is the same for all locks. I was looking for a unique code on a sticker somewhere. That is what Schlage and Kwikset do. But the factory programming code is in the manual. Just make sure you change it because it is the same for all locks. Overall, I really like this electronic deadlock, and I would highly recommend it. I am going to get more for other houses.

Workhorse of a lock. Long battery life. Highly recommend after two years of use.
Workhorse of a basic lock! We bought this two years ago, hoping basic equal better. It has paid off! Battery life is solid, counted in months, not weeks. Consistently works for a family of four’s main entrance. It opens and closes at least 10 times a day often 20+. Like with all auto locks, you sometimes need to fiddle with the strike plate because it has to align perfectly. You cannot be required to push or pull on your door handle to line it up. If you have an old house in an old door, this might not be a great solution for you. But we installed the new door and frame recently and this works perfectly day in and day out.

Great lock so far
I love this lock. Very convenient. Once fault in this is the components for the frame of the door. They are not 'ideal' for a lot of doors and you'll probably end up using the previous component. This works in locking by itself 60% of the time for me. It keeps attempting to the point I just want back and turn the lock lever myself. Unlocking is a breeze, but twice, I entered my code and it made a noise of attempting to unlock and failed to do so. 3/5 - Reliability is a must, and this is reliable 60% of the time. Definitely still a good buy, I would recommend interior

Still works great 4 years later
I like this lock. It's simple and it works. For a while I had to hold the door handle shut but that had more to do with me replacing an existing deadbolt and weatherstripping and the holes not lining up properly. I eventually replaced that old terrible door and now it works great. I will note that when I bought the new door from Home Depot I had to drill a new hole for this guy; he sits further back than the default hole. I'm not sure if I could have adjusted the deadbolt instead (I was tired and really wanted the job DONE so I just hurried and drilled a hole to get this over with) but it wasn't a big deal. I suggest you download and keep the user manual---particularly the part where it talks about programming and reprogramming codes. I have people housesitting and it's extremely helpful to give them their own custom code while they are there and then delete it after they leave.

Do Not Buy - Critical Flaw
Update: 40 days after purchase and about 2 weeks after installation, the deadbolt encountered some kind of error, locked itself, and took no codes. It emitted random beeps. Amazon brand AA's at 1.46v. FAULT MODE IS LOCKED OUT. This is a problem if no key holder is present. I'm going to give it a reset to see if it will take programming in the interim, but I'm sending it back because now I can't trust it. Update: took programming and promptly glitched again. Original review: (**) Installation was a breeze. There is no real difference between this deadbolt set and anything else on the market in this regard. Either you know how to do it or can figure it out, or not. It installed directly in place of my old deadbolt with a simple twist of the shank. Decent hardware with one extra wood screw, though longer screws for the strike are usually a good idea. Feature-wise, this is pretty sweet for the price. You can set one-time codes or manage six codes individually. I appreciate that you can have longer codes, though mathematically they throw a brick through the window. Auto-lock timer is a real bonus. You can control these particulars using the cheat sheet inside the battery cover. There is provision for some kind of remote panel or fob, but the instructions are sketchy on this. I bought this contemporary (rectangular) oiled bronze deadbolt to accompany a Schlage oiled bronze handle. It isn't the particularly lustrous partner in this companionship, though let's face the fact that you have an array of eleven white synthetic buttons populating the exterior block. It does look better and more subtly reflective at night under ultra-warm exterior lighting, and the overall appearance of the door The interior unit is a tad uglier. There is a 1/8" bezel between the door and the shell, rather than this seam being contained within the shell. It looks like you could use a can opener on it. The division between the battery cover and the lever housing is more pronounced than on pricier models. The cover is very thin metal, and when I reinstalled it to the grooves, the sharp edge shaved off small slivers of plastic from the inner housing. This entire assembly feels cheap and flimsy. The two included keys are very lightweight metal and I intend to replace them right away. The "bolt" of the deadbolt is a bit odd. There is a hole in the tip of the silver-colored metal bolt with a black pin of about 1/4" diameter inside that appears to run the length of the bolt. Is the silver outer a fragile sabot for the hardened core pin? The electromechanical portion is the greatest source of concern. Compared to the Kwikset #450191 this went in for, the motor sounds weak and labored. I did not have the foresight to compare the force of the deadbolt engagement, and obviously if there is an obstruction we would want these to slip, but it is extremely easy to stop the bolt from engaging. The power of the actuator, the durability of the clutch, and the quality of the motor all seem suspect to me. Overall I feel this was not a wise purchase. The value of initial quality is marginal, which may portend a tragic fumbling for keys sooner than planned. Time to test the garage door openers. If one has barred windows and secondary latches wit high security in mind, they're not shopping this deadbolt. This is a "better than nothing" solution and if you're working on a beautiful interior, double the price. It is what it is.

Could not be better!
I gave 5 stars to Tech Support even though I didn't need any. ( Everything else was so perfect that I didn't have the heart to grade less.) I installed it on a wrought iron gate. Because you can reach right thru the gate, I took it upon myself to hack-saw off the thumb turner - at my own risk of ruining the lock. But it worked great, so for those who might be afraid someone could break a close-by window and reach in and unlock it, there is your solution. Just be aware that if you want to unlock it from the inside, you will have to come up with a solution such as to saw a slot in the residual thumb turner post and use a screw driver. For me, I just reach thru between the pickets and enter a code. Imagine: You can set 10 different codes! One for the pool guy, one for the gardener, one for the maid, one for your favorite neighbor, etc. You can also set "one time use" code, like for the occasional repairman. Tip: The coding instructions are excellent, so follow them closely. The same goes for installing the lock. This item is very attractive and modern looking. It works very smoothly. The keys? I guess if you have dead batteries. Very reasonably priced. I can't imagine more satisfaction - even from a lock costing 10X more. Yeah. You guessed it: I like it. But if it lets me down, you'll hear about it.

Well built lock that holds up
Love this lock setup. My brother bought his and after a couple years held up great. Ended up buying one for myself and my elderly folks got one too so it’s easy to swing by and check on them.

False Fail Lock Beeping
ok, So the ONLY reason we were able to program this lock was because of "Joshua Bell- the top review for this listing" He broke it down in a way that we were able to decode the instructions. lol . Anyways, so installation was pretty straight forward. The instructions is came with suck, look it up on YouTube. It's the best way in my opinion. But this is not the reason for my low rating. It recommends you use 4 alkaline batteries (not included) so I put some in and it burned through them in just time time it took us to program the system. SO I bought a "better" brand of batteries know to Last... it lock worked fine. Though, 5 days later when I press the lock button as I leave the house the lock beeps three times and flashes a red light indicating that the dead bolt is has failed and is not engaged. I check the door to see if it opens, and it doesn't. It is in deed locked but still get the error code. It's been doing this every time for the past 3 days now, which is really annoying. Im scared that it will unlock when im away since it has the error code acting up
