Enjoyable - not a rich world build - most action happens on the ship & is internal dialogue heavy
Enjoyed the series of 5 (6th pending). IMO this first one wasn't the best even tho the components I enjoy were present - action & sex scenes, drama & lively interaction between H&h. The hero was a bit too high handed for my tastes & the heroine - while protesting - was weaker than I like - a feisty heroine would have been preferred. This trend is present through most of the series - strong, opinionated males matched with soft, yielding females that chafe at restrictions but don't really fight back - at best they take stupid risks. Lot of sex scenes at odd times. The alien-ness of the males was a minor factor - shades of pink skin & horns - but WAS part of the story (all too often the aliens are so human like their characteristics aren't discussed at all). As the series progresses - other alien mates come onboard but are never part of the story - too bad, opportunity missed. Most action happens on the ship so environment aspect is boring. The series in general isn't as rich in world build as I like - but they're an enjoyable diversion.

I feel bad for the women of Earth
After the Suhlik aliens invaded Earth and killed people, Paax's people came and offered to keep Earth safe from the Suhlik in exchange for human brides. Women are genetically tested to see if they match one of the warriors and if they find a match, they are taken to their new home on an alien world. They don't have a say in this at all because there's a bride draft and most women are tested and sent away unless you are exempt like Mercy was for a while because she was taking care of her sick mother. But once her match is found, she is taken away from her home and away from her sick mother. Paax is a skilled doctor and made a serum that turned his twin brother into a bad person. His brother is unstable and also their warlord/ruler. Some of his people want Paax to fight him for control of their people but he doesn't think he's up to it. When Mercy arrives, he's instantly attracted to her but because his brother is throwing danger at both of them, they have to get to know one another really fast. So their romance happens really fast but they are attracted to each other right away. Maybe because they are a match genetically? I'm not sure. Paax is such a wonderful mate and guy though so I can understand falling for him to easily and fast. This was such a good alien romance. The danger, romance and action made this a quick read.

Paax gets matched and challenged....
This was good story, it got better toward the end. I give this 4 cups of hot java, ☕☕☕☕. Well written, the draw into the story was slow and becoming harder to pull away from as Pass gets unexpected match to an earthling. She gets teleported to him but Paax's brother, a warlord, enforces his challenge to Paax or he claims his new war bride. Paax tells her that they needed to mate immediately or he loses her so they mated, but his brother had other ideas next day that forces Paax's hand in saving his war bride and move to the battleship to finish his brother in the challenge.

This is only the beginning to an addiction.
Bought this book because 1) I liked the blurb and 2) it was free. Little did I realize that even though the first book seemed abit like a prequel and slightly incomplete, the hanging questions would lead me to the next book and the next book...This has become one of my favorite series. Have re-read it all the way through at least 3 times, each time finding small things more endearing than before. Paax, and the pain of being responsible for the creature his twin brother has become, the nobility of the character bleeds into the rest of the books. Mercy and the insidious joy that she brings that slowly bleeds into his heart...becomes his "little star"...and he must quickly decide how much is he willing to give-up to keep her. His brother, Omas, who comes off as a truly warped individual, I have discovered was perhaps not so evil. Paax was set-up, a match forced on him. Forced to confront the warped nature of a twin that had lost his mate and truly wished no more than to have passed when she was gone from his existance. There are all kinds of questions in this book as it is short, sweet, and very compelling. I have fallen for the Mahdfel and seriously wish Nancy Cummings would revisit Sangrin.

Just okay!
For me it was just an okay read. I liked it but it wasn't one of those "wow" books. Short, fast paced with the characters quickly interacting and not a lot of depth in the plot. Overall the characters were interesting. I did notice one scene where the author describes Mercy standing there in her bra and panties with the storyline moving on as of she didn't have them on. It seemed to need a little editing in that scene.

A great quick read that has everything you'd want from a love story with aliens!! A sassy if resigned human is matched to an alien for marriage. Having to leave her sick mother behind, she finds herself in the middle of two brothers...one her husband the other his twin.. the clan Warlord....and crazy! Battles and danger, love and romance...and of course a HEA. Such a wonderful beginning to a fantastic world.

The story line was excellent, fast paced, detailed so you understood what was happening. A struggle between twins where the best one wins and a HEA

Something was off to me It felt a bit rushed, there were details mentioned that could've played a part in the story later on or felt like there were originally meant to go somewhere but then couldn't fit on a pre determined amount of pages. For example (this is a very small spoiler) she mentions in the beginning that she's a vet and hopes her new husband will let her finish her education and to me that sounds like it should be in the story later on but then was never to be mentioned again. Maybe it was forgotten maybe it wasn't even meant to cone up again but overall it just felt like a few parts of the story were missing For free, it's a nice little story but I wouldn't pay money for it

Not my first alien bride story, but I can be sceptical. This was fast paced, steamy and exciting. A short-ish story, it wasn’t loaded up with in depth descriptions, but still managed to get everything you’d want across. Characters were likeable, intelligent, tough and kind. The story was interesting and fast burn. I enjoyed it and will read the next one.
