The World's Best Fairy Tales: a Reader's Digest Anthology

This is the fairy tale book I grew up with way back in the day and I LOVED it. It is out of print now but Amazon Marketplace was able to provide a list of multiple sellers. These are the fairy tales told as originally intended - with some scary things to teach lessons to those reading them. My son (who never enjoyed fairy tales as a young child) had me read him one a night after this book arrived. The robbers cut up Cassim and nail his body to the walls of the cave in Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves and with each step the Little Mermaid takes it feels as if she is treading on sharp knives and pointed daggers. This is an anthology and there are fairy tales from all over the world here.

I was so happy to find this book on Amazon. I had a copy many years ago, but gave it away to a pregnant friend. I like this book because it contains all of the expected fairy tales but it also includes a lot of the more obscure tales as well. It also doesn't "sanitize" the stories as some distorted movies have recently changes these tales. An excellent book for readers who enjoy these tales and people who read to children (might want to check the endings first).

I'm happy with the stories, but my kids are big on pictures and this one doesn't have a lot of illustrations or colors for that matter.

I lost everything in the Campfire. I was given this book at 5 years old by my Grandma. I have been looking for this book for almost 4 years. Thank you so much for the beautiful book that reminds me of my childhood. The condition of the book is excellent.

I grew up reading this book, read it to my daughter as she grew up and she is reading it to her children. My copy had ended up missing some pages when I had it, so we read around those stories. Now though, with this new copy we can read the missing stories to my grandchildren, along with all my favorites. Definitely not the Disney versions.

The item is perfect even if it is used I totally love it kudos to the seller and everyone who loves books.

Have been trying to find this book for years. Was given the second volume of this anthology as a child and have been trying to obtain the first for years. Fairy tales told as they should be warts and all. Beautiful illustrations. So pleased when this arrived and in perfect condition

I bought this thinking it was one of the 2volumes ,worlds best fairy tales,readers digest publications,anthology.Hence a bit disappointed. The plus point is all the stories of both the volumes are present here.Despite being an used book it was in excellent condition. The con was that it's small sized,ordinary pages not glossy like the 2 volumes!

The book is good but I wanted an earlier edition and there was no mention of which edition was being sent as this is a pre-loved book. Also no returns or exchange. Quality was good, no tear, scribble or missing pages. The cost too was a bit steep for the edition which was quite recent
