I'll start by telling you, I was an acrylic junkie starting back in 1990 and wore acrylic nails consistently until last fall. About 5 years ago I switched to the powder and then to gel nails shortly after that. After all those years of fake nails, without a break, plus I am a picker of nails when they feel like they're lifting. If all 10 nails lasted 2 full weeks I was lucky. I usually couldn't help myself and picked them off completely before going back to the salon. It was so embarrassing. My nail beds were in shambles, they were thinner than paper. After I stopped the fake nails, tasks like folding clothes were a pain, they snagged my clothing, were sensitive under warm water, and just a mess. I bit my nails to the quicks. I was wearing gloves to try and stop, and to hide my hideous fingers. I can't wear polish, even nail strengthener polish would be picked off within 3 days. I needed something I couldnt pick off, that would heal my super damaged nails, and I almost gave up. I was thinking about going back to the salon, and dreaded it, since I'm low on cash. Then I saw this product, read some reviews, and bought a jar. What a lifesaver this product has been for me. I didn't notice anything the 1st week, but I liked the gentle moisturizing feeling and the light scent. Man! In 3 weeks I started noticing my nail beds were healing. The rough scaley look was smoothing over. The peeling stopped. The sensitivity was gone. Now a tiny bit of white at the tips are growing out and I can feel them getting stronger. I am so thrilled! I have hope now that I can grow my nails out. No snagging anymore and no hiding my hands. Best yet, when I want to pick or bite my nails, I reach for my jar and start rubbing my nails with this awesome balm. I've only been using it 4 weeks, and wish I had before pics. I'll never go without it, it saved me a ton of money too, no salon visits ever again!!

I used to bite my nails very badly to the point where whenever I would go to a nail salon there was hardly anything to work with. Someone I know suggested this cream to help them grow and I have been using it consistently for about a month. I have noticed amazing results!! I couldn’t be happier, I finally have strong and healthy nails now and so much growth!! It also smells great.

So first I will say that the product smelled very good. Second I've only been using it for about a week and my nails look really good smooth and maybe a little bit stronger. Next I will say this - and please understand before I say it that my skin is extremely sensitive. I can't use bleach or chemicals and I have to work gloves when I wash dishes or my hands dry out and become painfully cracked and irritated very easily so this may not be relevant to most people-the skin around my nails has become very dry and flaky. So I started using a nail brush - the one pictured here with the container, this did not come with the container- this may work as long as I don't get it on the skin around my nails but I will definitely update this review to let everyone know. So far I can only give the product for stars but I will come back in another week after continuing to use the product and update this review. One more thing I will say is that I believe this jar should last me at least a few months if not more.

I’ve used Hard as Hoof on/off since 2019, it made skin around my nails but nothing as remarkable as other reviews had posted, so hadn’t used in sometime. Fast forward to Oct 2025. I was tired of getting my nails done but nails continued to be weak and ugly. I ordered again and with consistent use (2-6x/day) my nails are strong, no longer tear easily and my cuticles are soft with no more dry jagged areas the nail tech used to have to cut off. I just rub a tiny amount on each nail and massage into surrounding cuticle after am shower, washing dishes a/or while watching TV. I have discovered if I miss an entire day my cuticles become very dry and suspect my nails would suffer if I stopped using. It’s been almost 6 months and the tub is still 1/3 full, while my nails look better than they ever have.

I’ve been using Onyx Professional Hard as Hoof for a bit now, and I’ve seen a real improvement in the strength of my nails. They feel harder and less likely to peel or break, especially after regular application. The cream absorbs well and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, which makes it easy to use daily. I like that a little goes a long way, and it works well around the cuticles too. With consistent use, my nails look healthier and grow better without splitting as much. This is a solid nail treatment and definitely worth trying if you struggle with weak or brittle nails. I would repurchase.

UPDATE: I stopped using this cream because my cuticles were in a lot of pain!! I started using another cuticle cream from Amazon, and my cuticles have healed. It was definitely this stuff! Super bummed because the nail growth was insane. Just wasn’t for me. OG review: Hmm I’m not sure about this product. I’ve been using it 3 times a day for about a week now (as per the directions) and my nails have grown (like magic lol) but the skin around my nails and the cuticles are struggling a bit. My hands feel so dry. As you can see in the photo, my nails look great but I have multiple spots (other hand too) where I have bled!! Which is so odd! So I’m not positive what’s causing it, this is the only new product I’m using. I will continue for maybe another week. But this may be a no for me.

I’ve struggled with brittle, peeling nails for a long time, but this cream is a game-changer. It truly delivers on its promises. My nails feel significantly stronger, harder, and they no longer break at the slightest touch. The quality is exceptional, and it absorbs quickly without being greasy. Highly recommend!

My Mum used the original and said it was the best product she had ever used for her nails. This is nice too and I do like the coconut smell.

My nails have never been in fantastic shape but after I wore acrylic nails for a year in high school (15 years ago) they have just been super thin and brittle since - pile on top of that working in a factory and I just never really had nails - they were always chipped and ALWAYS peeling. I used this twice a day everyday for about a month maybe 2 and then would forget here and there so it got put on whenever I remembered - but have to say my nails are 2000% better than they were before - still thin but I think that's just what I got dealt for nails - very few chips and no more peeling and tons of length (for my nails) and it smells fantastic to boot

Excellent product!!! I work with my hands a lot and found as I get old my nails where becoming more and more brittle ( old age happens to all of us ) so after some research I came across this product and thought I would give it a try. The results are amazing, Before I had a lot of dry splitting nails , even some delaminating due to working with wet hands a lot after applying this for a few days my nails feel a lot stronger, no more splitting, no more delaminating just healthier, a stronger nails. Highly recommend for anyone ( men & women) who have trouble with weak or brittle nails. Will definitely continue to use.
