Attack on Pearl Harbor - 70th Commemorative Edition! On the morning of December 7, 1941, a surprise attack by Japanese naval aviation against the American held island of Oahu and Pearl Harbor, thrust the United States into World War II. Framed as a debate between Walter Huston's Uncle Sam and Harry Davenport's Mr. C (that's "C" for "Conscience") the film attempts to determine who was to blame. Though December 7th is more balanced than most propaganda films of the time, even suggesting that the United States should have been better prepared, it is still an indictment of Japanese-Hawaiians and the alleged role they may have played. It also shows the aftermath and how America reacted. Actual film footage & still photos are included as well as interviews with survivors. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to learn more about this terrible day in our history. The Bluray HD is far superior to the DVD Edition and looks really good on the UHD TV.

EXCELLENT!
This documentary provides the viewer with information that shows the multitude of events that led up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. It also shows the aftermath and how America reacted. Actual film footage & still photos are included as well as interviews with survivors. I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to learn more about this terrible day in our history.

Very informative.
I purchased this for my young daughter after we returned from a trip to Hawaii. It helped her to understand what happened in Pearl Harbor and helped her to connect and make sense of what she saw when we visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial. It's very informative and provides a lot of pictoral and video footage that really helps with understanding the history of the event. I would recommend to history buffs, teachers of American History, or anyone interested in understanding The United State's role in World War II and the reasons our nation was drawn into this conflict.

Color of the war
This DVD set is great upon seeing color film of the attack on Pearl Harbor. After serving five years in the navy I saw the Arizona in person and it still makes me cry. To see her still leaking oil and seeing the very spot were she will rest until she falls apart. It was very helpful in completing my ARIZONA BATTLESHIP MODEL in the correct color as she was when she exploded, at least within reason. Horrifying and fascinating- all at once. Corey

War/Romance
Love most WW II movies. This one was a little more romance than war. a number of the movie scenes were right out of a couple of my WW II games. I liked the characters and the plot, good music too.

Great flick
It is not what I thought the move was. But it goes into details of Japans attic on Peral Harbor. There is a black and white flick of the attic which I think it is better and longer. I don't know if the History chanel has a DVD of it, will have to check on them

not bad
The DVD is very informative, it covers a decent amount of information. Not the best out there though. It was a little hard to understand the narrator, and it doesn't have subtitles. That's why it gets 3 stars.

I wanted to know the what and why of this History lesson. I was going to purchase the Pearl Harbour movie, when I saw this History choice. Including survivor knowledge and hindsight information, along with the balance of Good that derived from that traumatic day. It gave me a sense of Acceptance, for to many deaths and ships destroyed. And Respect for the men and women who took control and rebounded, to help save ship mates and salvage the remaining fleet. In so doing they were able to defend many innocent people who were drawn into this war. My father was a soldier North bound in Europe. I am Grateful for the survivors and the ones who gave they lives, to protect the next generations. It's a keeper...

THE FILM IS A LITTLE GRAINY IN SOME SPOTS,BUT OVERALL A GOOD WATCH, IT WAS NICE TO SEE SOME OF THE SURVIVORS WHO MADE IT OFF THE SHIPS.
