Great pet door with a simple installation!
I needed a pet door for my screen enclosure and this one fit perfectly. I installed it into the base panel of 1 screen door. The panel is 1 inch think and I used a Dremel with diamond cutting wheel to cut the opening. Make yourself a cardboard template to make things even easier. A 1 inch think opening required me to cut the tunnel off at the first line marker and it fits perfectly.

Well-constructed and easy to install
Well-constructed and easy to install. The four-way lock works great, too. As an added bonus, the cats figured out the door really quickly, I think because of the clear door flap. We did install it a little crooked because we leveled to the house instead of the door. That's user error though, nothing against the cat door.

Works ok. Here are some installation tips
The cat loves his new door. His people are a little concerned because it stays open when he goes out. Luckily, it’s out to the garage, so skunks are unlikely to invite themselves in. The installation design is different from the many dog dogs we have installed. Those have bolts that cinch the front panel to the back panel, squeeIng the people-door in between. That design makes a good seal and it lasts. This cat door seems designed for a solid wooden door, where you can screw (not bolt) front panel and back panel to the door separately (not to each other), using 8 short screws (4 on each side). If you have a metal or hollow core door, try this instead. Initial prep: - follow instructions for marking and cutting out the opening - tape the cat door in place temporarily - drill 1/8” pilot holes though 8 corners - 4 each on the front and back panels - remove the cat door - then drill 1/4” holes through the 4 corners of the door. Be careful to line up the front and back holes. That will give you clearance to thread 4 long bolts through the whole cat door-people door-sandwich Go to the hardware store: - Buy 4 (or more) long #6 machine screws (actually bolts) with nuts and lock washers. - For our metal door, 3” bolts worked great. We got an $8 electricians kit of different length #6 machine screws. - You might need to drill out the plastic holes on the cat door corners a tiny bit. Final prep: - line the inside cuts on the door neatly with white duct tape (if you have a white door) - overlap the outside of the people-door with only 1/4”, or it will show - the tape will make a sealing gasket and will cover rough metal edges Final installation: - Carefully put both cat door panels in place. Be careful not to crunch the tape inside. - Hold cat door in place with blue tape or cheap duct tape until finished. - Thread 4 long #6 bolts through the front panel - people door - back panel. - Put the bolt *heads through the side of the door that is *flush to the wall. That way, the extra ends will be on the back side, where you are less likely to get snagged on them. Or you can ship them off - Tighten all nuts part way, then back them off one by one and - Add lock washers - Don’t tighten too tight - you don’t want to crack the cat door panels. Now your cat door tightly sandwiches the people door. Finishing touches, if you like: - cover the bolt heads with the cute little white caps provided in the kit - snip off the long bolt ends - and/or cover the bolt ends with bumpy white caps from the hardware store. You can do it!

Best Cat Door
Great for installing in interior doors. Works well for installing through walls. And the latching mechanism lasts for years, rather than the PetSafe latches, which I’ve had break, and wear down to the point that the cats could open the locks themselves.

Quick install, snug fit, easy to push open
Just got it today and installed it, so I cannot speak to its longevity. Should it break in a short time, I will update the review. I can see the plastic door getting scratched up after a while as a distinct possibility, but frankly, how is that supposed to be prevented? We wanted one with the ability for the cats to see through, so unless you want one with an opaque swinging door, I think you are just going to have to assume that over time, the clear plastic will have visible scratches and smudges. Right now it's perfect (just installed) but I will come back with an update as to how long it took before it got scratched up (I'm just assuming it's going to happen.) Install was super easy for me, just a drill, drill bit, screwdriver and jigsaw. The thickness of my door was perfect for it, and mine are standard doors, so most people should be OK. I think these are 2 3/8" doors... I THINK! So I didn't have to cut down the plastic at all, but I can see how that would be obnoxious and hard to do, so I got lucky, but not really. Like I typed earlier, these are designed to fit standard thickness doors, and it did. I did not use the wood strip they recommend getting (not included), nor did I use double sided tape. When I cut the door, I cut it on the small side (so I thought), and it turns out it was super-duper snug but not actually too small. I was actually afraid it might be pinching it to the point where I would not be able to fit the second piece, but I got lucky and it fit so tight that I didn't bother to remove it and use the other items. I didn't see the point. If in a little while I notice it starts to get loose, I'll update, but at that point, that will be my fault, as I am admitting I didn't fully follow the instructions (yeah...lazy, I know). My only complaint, even though I am giving it five stars, is that the screws you get are soooo soft, that you want to make sure you use a screwdriver and not a power drill to install them. I barely touched the screws with the drill and it stripped the heads. I was able to salvage it and make it work, but the last 6 I put in by hand, with a screwdriver, without incident. Use the right size screwdriver too or you might have an issue. The 4-way mechanism is straightforward, seems like it will be durable (I'll update as needed), and it doesn't take a lot of effort to push it open, so even little cats and kittens can do it once they are trained. I would recommend, and I like that it comes in white because I think black on my doors would look funny.

Fue fácil para instalar, siempre y cuando tengas una sierra caladora… Nosotros lo usamos para un perrito chihuahueño pequeño. Al principio le daba miedo, pero muy pronto se adaptó a usarlo.

Perfect for our small cat, we installed a 1” thick styrofoam insulation into the open window, then cut the hole to size and installed cat door into that. Easiest install, we did have to epoxy the door frame to the insulation because of how we decided to do it so it’s perm, but for the price keeps the house warm and with some treats/encouragement kitty loves the freedom. Door works great with a wee magnet to keep it closed. Had to prop and show how but she got it. Going to paint it out to make it pretty.

Recomendable.
