Kenwood Kvt-516 7-Inch In-Dash Navigation Ready DVD Receiver

I got this for my husband for a wedding gift. He loves it and it works great! He was even in a bad car crash that totalled the car, but he was able to pull it out and it still works as good as the day I bought it.

Some issues with this unit but overall it functions pretty well. CONS 1 - Sub Woofer control keeps turning off, for no apparent reason. The memory seems to not want to keep in the unit. Every once in a while the sub and audio controls will be greyed out and cannot be turned on. 2 - The angle of the monitor can be set, however the unit never remebers the last position and resets every time I turn it on. 3 - Pretty difficult to customize, the unit has 9 or so accessories that can be attached but you cannot disable the buttons if you dont have these devices so basically it goes to a blank screen, ie: Navigation bluetooth controls. 5 - USB must be USB 1 because it takes a long time to read the flash drive. 6 - Ipod classic and 1st Generation Iphone seem to freeze when using the Ipod controls. 7 - The unit shut off errantly a few times at the beginning but has'nt after the first week. This may have been because of a power wire that was not adequate. After changing to a larger power wire it seems to have resolved this problem. 8 - Hard to navigate the DVD menus unless you have the remote. Pros 1 - Awesome picture for the DVD, playback is flawless. 2 - Sound quality is great, 0 distortion. 3 - Sub and EQ controls rival $300 units with the same functinality. 4 - Geat buy for the money since this same unit sells for $750 at Best Buy.

Works great. Has a great picture on DVD player. Easy to hook up and use. I installed it in my mechanics truck. It Lasted about a year before the dust and dirt got to it and it quit working.

I installed this in my truck and ran it for just over a month, pulled it out when I got rid of the truck and went to install it in my new truck and it opened with a grind/pop noise and is now stuck open and won't power up. The 3 wire hookup for the Ipod never worked with any of the cables I bought so I ended up using 2 seperate cables from Walmart in order to use my Ipod which ment no video from the Ipod. This is the first problem I've had from any of my Kenwoods.

Bought and installed a few days ago, really added some flavor to my speakers and car in general. After toying with it for a few minutes, I figured out all of the functions and I have it working to it's full potential. Great radio, great experience with seller.

First of all, I am very happy with this stereo. I am a long time Kenwood loyalist. It's stereo replaced another very expensive but dated Kenwood unit. Goods: The sound is amazing. Even better than my previous unit. Ease of the menus is nice. Overall quality is in keeping with usual Kenwood. Install is pretty easy if you do it yourself. Bad: For $470 I was a bit disappointed with the clarity of the screen. I have 10 year old portable DVD players that have similar picture quality. You better have allot of room behind your dash to accommodate all the wires. It barely fit in my Mustang. No remote control. For what I spent on this unit I assumed it would come with one...... Nope. Overall: Very happy, very cool gadget. I couldn't find any info on this, but for those wondering, it will work with an IPad. I haven't figured out yet if it will play video from an iPad though. If I figure it out, I will update this review. Also if you don't have the reverse lockout wiring for the DVD that keeps you from playing it while driving. Just ground the wire and it takes care of that little issue.

Very happy with this Kenwood product. The screen display is vivid, and the controls are very easy to use. The potential for expanding with this unit with add ons make it even more attractive. I currently have the Garmin GPS navigation unit add on, and it works flawlessly. Good job Kenwood!

Installed in a 2003 Ford mustang It was kinda hard to install but had some friends to help me It does go out of wack once a blue moon the touch screen handles great and i would reccomend it to anyone
