SIP PA Endpoint
Have a client who has a warehouse that needed a phone and a PA system to cover the area. In this particular instance, the customer already had Valcom amplified speakers installed from a previous system. The primary problem is that SIP telephones have ringers that are only suitable for office environments and cannot be heard when installed in areas with high ambient noise levels. This device (PA1) installed in minutes and performs both functions - that of driving the PA speakers as an announcement system and using the same speakers to act as a ringer when the SIP phone in the warehouse receives a call. Check out the SNOM website [...] to see the required configuration (look at the product page, then click on the support link and then the FAQ). This saved me and my customer many dollars and the fact that it could also handle thr ringer aspect is a bonus. A great product.

Definitely a great solution in the VoIP world
Definitely a great solution in the VoIP world. I am not one to just simply program it once and leave it. I have to dabble with all the tweaks. The only one bad thing I found was it would stop working (no audio out) when the Speaker Volume was above 12 when the Amplifier Gain was set to 1. Then it required a power cycle to get it to work again until a page would occur, then lockup again. Once I set the Speaker Volume to 12 it worked fine. I ended up turning off the Amplifier Gain (value = 0) and setting the Speaker Volume to 14. This particular one has 2 - 16 ohm loud speakers in parallel connected to it. All of the others that I have bought are connected to 70 volt amps so speaker volume does not apply.

NO support -- Overly complicated.
We had our IT specialist try everything he could to hook this SNOM unit up to our VOIP system. He was doing online research for several hours trying to get it programmed and eventually failed. Additional support was only available if you had a contract with a system supplier (which everyone will obviously need. ) What a PAIN! Most technical equipment has become easier to use... not harder. Btw: the output connections look like they can power a pair of computer speakers, not an overhead system. GOOD LUCK!

EXCELLENT! Solved Huge PA system problem w/ Nextiva VOIP Phone System
EXCELLENT! Solved Huge PA system problem w/ Nextiva VOIP Phone System. Got a customer to switch to Nextiva in their factory. Quickly discovered they were using an antiquated PA system for Paging with their old phone system. I was able to quickly retro fit this for audio output to the PA speaker. I provisioned 2 virtual extensions in the WEBGUI. One extension I added to the Hunt Group (this allowed factory workers to know the phone was ringing), the other was I set for an AUTO-Answer - (this was the paging). The box came with a tremendous amount of pre-wired plugs and connections, of which I used none, but good to know if you have a more complicated setup than what I did. It is POE, and I used a standard POE injector (actually was an unused injector from a TP-Link WAP). It has been in place now for a few months and is working perfectly. I highly recommend this product.

Does what it is supposed to do.
I'm using this with an Avaya IP Office phone system to page at a location with only IP phones; the system is at our corporate office and the SNOM PA1 is at the remote location, connected to a Bogen amplifier for our overhead speakers in the warehouse. The SNOM doesn't come with much by way of instructions for setting it up, just instructions for connecting it and powering it on, getting the IP address, etc. There are wiki articles online that help with the configuration. I found one for a different SNOM product that described setting it up with the IP Office. I followed those instructions and the device worked as expected. It did take a little trial and error on a few of the settings to get there, but now it works fine.

Nice simple design
The PA-1 is priced right and is very easy to setup. I have it driving 8 speakers in 3 buildings using an RDL STP-1 variable attenuator (available on Amazon) to convert the 4 watt/8 ohm output of the PA-1 to 600 ohms for use with my Bogen TPU-35A amp. The amp is expecting 600 ohm input to its Tip and Ring terminals. THe STP-1 should also allow conversion of the speaker out on the PA-1 to a LINE IN on other amps. Other setups I have seen use an ATA adapter to get analog signal from VOIP, then a control unit, then a matching transformer and finally the Line In on an amp - too many moving parts for my liking.

You CAN connect an external amp, it's rather simple...
Extremely high quality item. Helps solve paging issues in a modern VOIP world, and it's POE to boot! Valuable Tip: The headphone jack is not made/reliable enough to use to connect an external amp. However, for those not savvy enough to figure out how to hook this up to a larger/louder amplifier, just look for a speaker to line level adapter. Here is a link to one of the many available brands/models: BOSS Audio B65N High Level to Low Level Converter Simply connect ONE of the speaker line in to the SNOM speaker out, then the RCA to your amp, twiddle with the levels a bit and your done. Ensure you use EITHER the left or right, not both. If you want to add more than say two speakers, just stop, don't use 4 or 8 ohm speakers. Get a P/A rated for 70 volt output, and 70 volt speakers Using a 70 volt system has many advantages, including not having to (mis)calculate the speaker impedance and burning out your amp, thinner gauge wire can be used over longer distances. Also, 70 volt speakers have taps or a dial to select how much power they will consume/how loud they will be. This of course is over simplified, but it will help you plan what size amp you need.

Works great on an POE connection with an amplified horn and 3CX PBX
Very easy to configure on 3CX, fully supported so plug and play. Used a TPLink power injector. Original Amazon recommended horn was too weak, as the unit has limited audio output power, so swapped the base $20 horn with a Bogen 15W Self Amplified 24 Volt Horn. Added a 24V wall adapter and can now blast the whole warehouse at 1/3 volume. On a side note shows as an extension on the 3CX PBX, and you can set up a tone on auto-answer, before you speak. Very nice.
