Don’t believe the noise issues. It’s not noisy.
I have read some reviews about noise. The customers who have written such reviews may not have the fan on a level surface, or have a missing rubber foot. My unit, delivered today, is less noisy than any other fan I have owned. It’s barely audible. However, if you sit any fan on an uneven surface, it will make noise. So ignore the noise complaints as “human interference”. This fan is THE BOMB. It does the work, without the bulk. I have the standard version...mid sized, not small, not large. I live in a 900 square foot apartment in a 4 unit complex. It gets VERY HOT UPSTAIRS, even with AC. It gets very furry with my two cats. It gets very hot with eastern sun and high sunrise through the side of the building. When it is 95 degrees outside, my AC can only manage to keep it 77 degrees due to the sun impact and a flat roof. This fan is a damn DREAM! It accelerates the air flow and cools exquisitely. I’m not sweating my you-know-what’s off with the heat. It is quiet, beautiful, and circulates the cat hair out of the window. If I place a pitcher of ice water next to it, it circulates that cooling, too. It is a 100% solution to normal fans, and it’s gorgeous, and quiet. 💕💕💕💕

Stylish and quiet
Love this fan! It's all made of metal and enamel so it's sturdy as heck and looks and feels like quality. The lower settings are very quiet, so quiet you can barely tell its on but the higher settings do make some noise but I found it easy to ignore. This fan really moves the air; there is a powerful stream of air that I can feel from across the room. It's a bit smaller than I anticipated but it really gets the job done. I'm hoping this is all we'll need this summer in Washington as the temperature ramps up. And I love this vintage style! Goes great with a mid century modern room 👍

Attractive & well made
This is a really gorgeous fan. It is big, and it definitely cools quickly and efficiently. I have a mid-modern decor scheme, and the fits in quite well. The colour is a sort of a cream, very attractive and I think goes with anything. Vornado is a very good brand, I've been using their products for a long time, this is another winner.

I love this fan for my home office because it is so quiet while in operation.
I purchased the Vornado Vfan Vintage in white and it is the best fan I have ever owned !! I have window ac units installed to help combat this summer heat but I needed something to help circulate the air in my home office. Heat plays havoc with my electronics and not to mention I need some fresh air circulating so I knew I wanted to buy a fan. I correctly have 2 plastic fans one located in my bedroom and another in the hallway I am trying to create a breezeway affect to help the cool air where my ac unit in my bedroom to make it down the hallway into my home office. My biggest complaint about the plastic fans I have is how loud they are when they are in operation. It seriously drowns out the tv when they are both on and I have to turn up the volume so loud you would think I have a hearing issue. I knew I needed something that was quiet while in operation and I came across the Vornado Vintage fan and I just had to have it. I purchased the larger Vornado fan that has the 3 settings on the back. It is very stylish in appearance, well made it isn't those cheap plastic parts its actual metal, and all I had to do right out of the box was plug it in and turn it on. Did I mention it is QUIET, it does not rattle, or make a loud buzzing sound when I have it on either of the 3 settings which is huge since I have several conference calls through out my day. I do agree that the fan in comparison to other models is a little more expensive but it is the best money I have ever spent on a fan due to the fact that I can hear and carry on a conversation while it is in operation. When I conduct a conference call I have to turn my window ac off but my tornado fan always stays on. It also adds to the decor in my home it is so stylish. In the video you can hear my portable ac turn on I turned it off and then all you hear is the fan in operation.

Great fan, worth the money
I love this fan. The green is a blue green color. It's heavy, metal, very sturdy and gorgeous. Love the retro design and the fact that it's not just plastic. It puts out a ton of air. I'm definitely getting another one for my guest bedroom.

Four plus months of living with the fan...
Hi... Bought two of the green "seniors" in August of this year. They blend well with some 40's/50, rattan furniture I managed to acquire (always wanted the old tropical mid-century look and my dear long suffering wife finally gave in). When they first arrived they worked beautifully, heavily built and impressively made. The creamy green color was perfect for my cushions. Problem note: After about a week of use one developed a "tick", like something being loose or caught in the fan. A kind person had reported here that one of his had also had this issue. Being an old retired nerd I managed to avoid taking the fan apart after visually inspecting if with a flashlight as I knew Amazon would quickly replace the product and I did not wish to jeopardize their excellent warranty, but being a car/boat kind of guy I had to at least try to see if it was something easy with my problem as the fans were so well built and it appeared nothing was loose. So I decided to use the ol' method of 'place the unit on full speed' in the living room overnight and wait to see if it fixed itself, just in case it had inadvertently 'eaten' something (fly, bug, twig, etc..) and would eventually finish it off. About 8-11 hours later (not very scientific, sorry) I noticed I was in the living room with flowing air and no ticking noise. I write this in December and they have both been used daily (I am quite fond of flowing air) and they are as attractive and quiet as day one. Best, Joe

I love items that are visually appealing as well as functional and my Vornado VFAN Vintage certainly provides both. Yeah it’s more expensive than some fans, but you get what you pay for and this little baby is built like a tank. Well made, gorgeous and it runs like a charm. I use it every night even in the winter to circulate the air in my bedroom as well as to provide sleep inducing white noise. I’m very glad I splurged on a Vornado.

Great fan - heavy, powerful; great air circulation and fabulous to look at. Use it at cottage - lowest speed for sleeping (minimal noise, but still good air circulation); higher speeds for pulling in cool air from outside for larger rooms.

ONE YEAR LATER: still in love with every single unit we have purchased. Still running essentially silently, and been operating almost daily for a full year. We now have multiple versions, in all we have purchased 5 Vornado products, absolutely no regrets. I originally purchased the Vornado 660 room circulator as it is less costly; I love it, so much so that I sent one to my parents, who also love it...but I could not get this one out of my mind. When I went to order yet another, the 660 was out of stock, so I decided to bite the bullet, pay the extra, and ordered this beauty. OF NOTE: I mistakenly ordered the "medium" version; there is a Jr. that is smaller and a Sr. that is larger; this "medium" one is just called "Vintage", so a bit confusing. I have absolutely fallen in love with the Vintage line for its looks, versatility and metal construction; so much so that I immediately sent this medium sized air circulator to my parents for their bedroom! They were carting the 660 from the living room to the bedroom where they had to use a book to prop up the 660 so it would blow "down" from their dresser. One advantage of the Vintage VFAN line is that the fan housing fully rotates from pointing straight down to straight up; the 660 only goes from straight ahead to a steep upward angle and does not offer the flexibility that this one does. Please keep in mind, this is not a fan in the regular sense; it is a room air circulator - it creates a gentle breeze throughout the room, not unlike a ceiling fan, and is the absolute perfect solution if a quality ceiling fan is not an option. IF you want a fan that throws a heavy stream of air at you, then you want a fan, not an air circulator. If you want a fan that will cool the room, with a constant gentle breeze, you have found the right unit. SOUND: on high it is literally whisper quiet; we did not even have to adjust the TV volume and it sits between us and the TV. On low or med it is utterly silent. Plus the "noise" is constant and steady, with no ebbs and flows, ups or downs; squeaks, squeals or rattles. IF you are seeking a white noise machine, or want it in the bedroom to mask noise, this is NOT the fan for you. AIRFLOW: suitable for a 200 sq ft room or a 10x20 foot room, and is listed at a CFM (cubic feet per minute) of 295. That is the equivalent of taking a cube that measures 6.5 feet high, 6.5 feet long and 6.5 feet wide and pushing it through this fan, every single minute. SIZE: The unit stands about 14 inches high, 8 inches deep, and 12 inches wide. The grill area is about 8 inches. The Vintage VFAN is rated at a lower CFM (295 vs 584) than the 660; and is technically not quieter (57 vs 54 decibels on high). In actuality I find it MUCH quieter, so much so that when they are placed 20 feet apart, I can still hear the 660, when beside the Vintage SR (both on high) but when I move just five feet closer to the 660, I can no longer hear the Vintage. As to air flow, the 660 moves more air - but the next size up, the Vintage Sr. moves more than the 660 (613 vs 584). COLOR: The green is slightly deeper than is pictured, less of a mint cast, perhaps a nod to avocado, but definitely not nearly as "deep" or yellow a green as avocado. DIFFERENCES: The 660 is made of plastic (albeit very sturdy plastic), and does not fully rotate; it is also much more economical (although still very pricey), very quiet, has four (soft touch, 1cm buttons) speed settings on the rim and moves twice the air of the medium in the Vintage line, on high. It comes in multiple sizes: 460, 560 and 660. The Vintage VFAN Line is all metal construction (excluding the blades), fully rotates from face down on the floor to face up to the ceiling; it is quite pricey, super quiet (Sr. 53db, VFAN 57db, Jr. 44db vs 660 at 54 db) and has a mechanical twist knob on the rear that offers two (Jr.) or three (VFAN or Sr.) speeds. The Sr. is technically quieter than the 660, and has a higher CFM at 613; the Jr. has a top CFM of 185. Now as to looks, I am in love with the vintage look and do prefer it to the 660. In hindsight, I accidentally ordered the medium size, and not the Sr., my bad. So no, it will not push more air than the 660, even though it is around the same cost as the 660. I WILL attest that it is quieter than 660, although that IS contrary to the manufacturers specifications. Is it pricey, heck yes! Is it lovely to look at, quiet to operate and moves a whack of air, 100%, YES. If you are seeking a silent unit that will create a gentle breeze, cooling an entire room, that is incredibly efficient and beautiful, I highly recommend this unit (and the 660 for that matter), but you have to understand you are paying a high price for high quality.

I have them all, big & small. These are super well made and can really cool a room down fast. Plus they look great - powder coated steel, not crappy plastic. Very, very good.
