Wabbitat Folding Rabbit Cage

We 'inherited' 4 rabbits...We needed cages and fast. Order these from Amazon. They had a buy 2 get 1 free special. We live in the sticks. The cages were ordered and arrived 2 days ahead of schedule. 3 minute set up. We did find 2 of the floors had the outside legs bent but with a decent pair of pliers, no problem. Nothing to complain about. At first, it made it difficult to get the floor installed. But it was a 2 second fix. If there is anything to complain about, it would be the tray holder bar. I don't know what they were thinking, but the tray will not lock in the way it is designed. At least not easily. It doesn't matter. We just left them open. The tray cannot move as the rabbits are on the floor. Not the pan. We cleaned them a couple of times already. The trays are just a bit light and could crack over time from twisting since they are so large they are awkward when they are heavy. But again, we are completely satisfied with these cages. We now have to order 1 more. No problem. We will order from this company again. 12/10/23 - Ordered 1 additional cage for a fourth rabbit. Again, we live where we are lucky to get mail in a week. BUT, this company is on top of their game! We received the cage in 3 days! Thanks MidWest Homes for Pets Store! Thanks to UPS for delivering ahead of schedule by 3 days! RECOMMENDATION: If you need a cage like this one, don't even think twice. Decent quality cages (with minor caveats...This is the third cage out of four that have bent flooring supports. But they are easy to fix with a good pair of pliers). We HIGHLY recommend this cage. UPDATE 12/18/23: Its been over a week using these cages now. One thing we have noticed is that the 'pee guards' are not staying in place and there is not enough of it to cover at least three sides. It only guards one corner. If the guards covered at least half as much again, it would be better. We may have to improvise something to provide better coverage. We have a nest box on one end. The 'resting mat' in front of the nest box. Food and water bowls are to one side. This leaves the pee guards not covering on the cage door side. We've tried various ways of installing the provided pee guard. The provided guards can only go in one of two corners. The are held in place by 'S' hooks. You'll want to squeeze them shut if your rabbits are like ours. They tend to knock them out of place. The way that these are sold, You may have some difficulty with rabbit spray coming out of the cage. UPDATE: 06/19/24... Ordered an 8th Cage on June 14, 2024. It arrived today on June 19, 2024. We live in the sticks. Can't complain about the time it takes to get any of them considering where we live. This one though cost double the previous 7 cages we purchased. And it was a train wreck upon arrival (all bent up). We don't place total blame on UPS. After all, packaging has a lot to do with it. But this one was really bent up. We're not ones to return products unless we have to. A pair of pliers did wonders on bending everything back into place but it took time and there was some paint flaking as a result. Otherwise, it would have been returned. So there you have it.

I have purchased three so far. The first came in perfect condition, easy to set up as long as you slide the wire floor through the tray slot (Didn't read the instructions it might say to in there). The cage is a little flimsy I secured the ones staying up with zip ties just to be sure, Definitely don't trust a dog can't break into here. The latches are easy enough to open one handed but can be slightly sharp. Over all this makes good Transport, Emergency, and sick bay cages could be used as single grow out cage IF you have dwarf or mini's upto about 8-11 weeks. Definitely not recommended with giant breeds. The second set of cages came with broken Tray's. Broken black Rabbit in pictures is a adult mini rex (on the larger side) and the last pic is a 12 week old Harlequin Mini rex I had cage while cleaning there main pens. You can use these for quail but they will get poop outside of the cage and the poop will stick to the wire floor. Dec 2026 update I have 6-8 cages now; I still use these cages off an on for different creatures, had to transport Adult Muscovy ducks this fall. You can fit 1-2 hens per cage depending on size and length of journey and Drake's are large enough they are one per a cage. Also worked when I found out the fun way, one of my new female guinea pigs was pregnant this summer, had to go on a baby piggy hunt since they were small enough to escape a original normal guinea pig enclosure I had but these cages held them I put the side down on the cages and connected them with zip ties so the piggies had room to run and layered the floor with fleece potty pads to make the floor softer also works for escape artist guinea pigs that will chew out of anything less than metal. They haven't rusted or lost any paint from me scrubbing them clean from Quail and duck poop. 10/10 would recommend for anyone that deals with small critters.

I paid $48 for this cage. It is well made and what I think is good value at this price point. I bought this to house two button quails outside which is a bit of a mistake because the floor grate spacing and the wall bar spacing are too wide for them. So I had to zip tie a layer of 0.25” chicken wire to the bottom grate, and a layer of 0.5” chicken wire around the rest of the frame. That was honestly a lot of work since I made sure the front and top doors can still open, and working with chicken wire was rough on my hands. But I’m happy with the results and I think my birds are too (they use to live in a much smaller enclosure that I built with chicken wire around a PVC pipe frame). The bottom tray slides out for easy cleaning, and the entire enclosure is sturdy enough after assembly for me to move inside when the weather gets cold. I will say the urine guard that came with this doesn’t work in my opinion; when I clipped that on the closest horizontal beam, the urine guard’s bottom flap doesn’t sit flush with the bottom grate. It’s fine though for me as I don’t really need a urine guard in my use case. The only other thing I wish this cage had are rubber feet or something besides bare metal.

I loved this cage so much the first time we ordered it that I had to get a second one but this time the tray arrived cracked. I reached out regarding it because it’s really sharp but never got a response so I’m not very happy with the customer service or how it’s unfortunately sliced my finger open. Besides the broken tray this cage is perfectly sized for small bunnies or like one of ours who is a chunky girl she fits it great and clean up is very easy. It has two side panels you can easily move and place to help prevent things from getting out of the side of the cage when the bunny has to have a bowl or urine release. The locks are very easy to use as well and set up was very easy! Even though the tray is broken I would highly recommend this cage! We have two and bought panels to make large bunny areas so they can exit the cage and have room to move about. They are not crazy over sized and if you don’t let your bunnies out you can easily stack the cages but I would suggest not stacking because bunnies will make a mess when they relieve themselves and sometimes it does get out past the tray so don’t stack and avoid a bigger mess.

We have had a few rabbits over the years. Most were pretty normal for rabbits. Except Pixie. Pixie is not right in the head. She eats everything--plastic, paper, cardboard. We thought she was just chewing and spitting it out like normal rabbits would do. But not Pixie-she eats it! She would eat anything but her food sometimes. By the time we discovered this, she was really ill, and the vet saved her with lots of care from us. We had also discovered she had ate our baseboard wood with varnish. But, now she is even more not quite 'right'. Maybe the varnish was the final straw. She can't hop right any more, and has lost control of her bowels and urine. She flops more than hops. So she would mess all over herself in her regular cage, and get messy and urine scald no matter how much the cage was cleaned. No way to live. So we got the Wabbitat and it doesn't matter how and where she goes potty anymore. So she is staying cleaner, seems happier and gets around a bit better. It is nice and big and there is nothing plastic she can eat--because she would eat it. And it is easy to clean, I found using newspaper in the tray works best for us. She can't get to them to eat them (and yes she ate her old bedding). The side and top doors and big and easy to reach into to get her or just to pet her. The latches are easy to use and secure. There is even a name plate holder. I'm thinking of "Pixie the varnish eater". Pixie is still under the vet's care, and she gets supplements and meds and hopefully will continue to get better. She gets no where near plastic and wood (yes even the wood sticks I got from Amazon for rabbits to chew on, she ate instead of chewed and spit out like a normal rabbit). She actually eats rabbit pellets and greens and hay because she can't get to the plastic she would rather eat. We can't put a towel over the cage at night because yes, she would eat that. She likes to eat cloth. She has learned nothing, I'm afraid. The Wabbitat helps keep her safe from her own darkest instincts. Poor Pixie is not quite right in her little bunny brain. But she is quite lovable and hopefully we are going to save her from herself. The Wabbitat helps in that goal. Edit: Poor Pixie did pass over the Rainbow Bridge a few weeks after I wrote this. We miss her a lot. I now have our ten year old bunny, who is not disabled, in the cage. He seems to do well. He is tiny so I have placed plastic feet mats over the entire bottom of the cage so his feet don't hurt. The mats have holes in them so they work with the cage well. I used the "Niteangel Rabbit Playpen Feet Mats for Cage" but there are others here that would work as well. He doesn't eat them like Pixie would have and they had held up well and he is comfortable in this cage. It is so easy to get him out of this cage but since he is old and small I place a towel for him to climb up on to get in and out of the cage on his own. I like this cage and am thinking of getting another one for another rabbit we have.

I had bought this cage from somewhere else. I was so impressed with it that I wanted more and started shopping around for a better price. By far this is the lowest price I could find and well worth the money. The size is nice which gives my bunnies room to move around in. I do have bigger outside cages which are great but this one works well for me for when I want to bring the bunny inside. The tray is easy to remove, clean and put back. The cage is very easy to move around from one place to another. If you are transporting a rabbit this is a good cage for travel. The setup was very easy as well as the break down if you have to break it down. I do use a plastic mat that has holes in it that hooks and fits nicely inside this cage so the rabbit can get off the wire. I will add a picture so you can see what I mean. The mat makes it so the rabbit waste can still get to the bottom and clean up is a breeze. The only thing I didn’t like about this cage is for those raising rabbits the holes are so big that a kit (baby bunny) can get through the wire. I raise rabbits and this cage is the perfect size for a nesting box with room left over for the mother to still be able to lie down and stretch out. I did add some rabbit wire that is smaller around the bottom side of the cage so the babies can’t get out so this was an easy fix for me. I do not like my expected mothers to be outside and this cage can be taken outside or inside. My husband built a roof support that the cage fits under nicely and it is easy to pull the cage out to take inside. I would have liked this cage better if the end had a door but it really isn’t a big deal I just have to make the place outside longer to place the cage long ways for the side door to face me. My rabbits are for breeding the tray is great but you will want to put some kind of potty pad under it unless your rabbits are litter trained to catch the waste if the rabbit decides to use the pen other than where you place the urine guard. It would have been nice to have that guard all the way around the cage but if you are using it outside that isn’t an issue. If you are using inside I just use woven people pads under the cage which is big enough for the cage with pad left over to catch the urine where the cage is opened without a guard. The bottom line this is a great price, great for travel, it can be used in or outside with a roof frame built on. It is roomy with enough room for most rabbits to be able to stretch out in. I do not believe it is big enough to use a litter box but you can give it a try. I do know it is big enough for a homemade nesting box with enough room for mother as well. It isn’t big enough for mother and a litter once the kits get bigger. The tray is easy to remove and clean. I really like the way this is built. It is an easy setup and take down.

So my review is gonna be a little bit long and I'm so sorry for that. I have bought 2 of the largest size cage. These cages are OKAY. I do like them easy to assemble great instructions and they are great size these are my New Zealand's permanent cages but my New Zealand's run around the house most of the time so they're really only in this for a safe space and night time. The trays are way too small and not deep enough I don't even think they're an inch deep to be honest. You literally have to clean it every day or every other day is pushing it or if you pull the tray out to clean it poop will fall all over the floor because of how tight that space is where the tray fits into. Like I stated these cages are great and I do like them I just think if they do any tweaking on this cage it definitely needs to be the Tray size. What I have actually done to avoid the mess is I went to Walmart purchased a wet/dry vac and I actually just pulled the tray out a little bit and I actually just suck the dirty bedding out of the bottom and lay new in and it takes half of the then what it did before. If have to removed clean them out then clean up my floor after.

The size is awesome and it is very sturdy when put together. I use this as an emergency cage for my chinchillas and it works great. It keeps them safe when we need to move them from their permanent cage.
