Qpets AF 108 Plus Programmable Automatic Pet Feeder for Dog, Cat & Other Small Pet

I recently bought this feeder, so I have something to feed my dog with when I am at work, and also I can sleep in on the weekend. I did some research online and found this one. At first, I was a little bit skeptical about it because its older model has mixed reviews. Some of the problems the old model have I don't mind, but there are a few that is a deal breaker for me. I couldn't find too much information online except their website, it seems like this is a brand new product that only came out a couple of weeks ago. So, I contacted Qpets via their online chat, they responded in minutes and explained in detail about the difference between the old model and new model, also answered all my questions. Their customer services are great! So in the end, I brought one to try out and figure with this kind of customer service; if something is wrong, I can get help easily. The result is a smile on my face and my lazy butt on the couch, I love this thing! Most of the problems the old one had has been resolved, some of the issues it still has aren't some deal-breaking issues. It works perfectly fine for me, I think this is a very high value for the money compare to other options on the market. I am getting a second one since I am getting a new dog this week.

We purchased the original Qpets feeder several years ago and love it. We wanted to take longer trips so we purchased a second feeder. The only issue now is some of the features have been changed on this new model and they are not improvements. There is no "start tomorrow" button anymore therefore you have to start the feeder based on when you leave (for example, left at 4 in the morning so had to set it to go off at 3:30am every day so it would start the next day). The original model has start tomorrow function so that isn't the case. Also had an issue with a double feeding but it could have been operator error my first time using it. It does the job but if you can find an original model, I would recommend that all day.

This newer model just arrived, so I can't speak to it's durability, but the QPETS AF 108 that I bought 8 years ago has been a workhorse! We've used it every day since then, and it never failed us until now. It's switch finally failed (according to the QPETS tech. dept.), and this is apparently repairable with the purchase of a $17 switch assembly. (Really! How many small appliance companies have a service numbers where someone actually answers and has a solution that doesn't involve replacement!?) However, I chose to replace because discounts for ordering and this review made it a better deal. The newer model seems identical in appearance except that QPETS has made the programming much more intuitive and eliminated the "Start Now" and "Start Tom[orrow]" buttons, which were very confusing. I've used this for a dog with a history of pancreatitis; we feed ~5 small meals a day, and this feeder (used over two days) takes care of the middle of the day feedings that I would invariably forget. I'm impressed enough with the apparent quality of QPETS products to consider one of their automatic hopper feeders for our barn cats.

This item i used in the pay and it worked fine but after 9 months they broke so i ordered replacements but they broke in a month. This time i ordered another and the times kept resetting after i set everything. Is hot the save button and it would erase all the times but the first one. I sent it back and requested a replacement. I waited and the replacement never showed up. So i requested it again and still didn’t receive it. I am now requesting a refund but they want me to send it back which i already did two weeks ago so i have nothing else to send. I have attempted to get ahold of anyone from customer service with the company with no luck.

I originally bought this feeder to give meds to my cat when I was at work. However, it was so convenient that I now use it for everything. Here are some of my thoughts: Pro: The 6-meals tray lasts for at least 1 - 3 days. It could potentially last for four days or more if only used for food serving. The voice recording feature helped a lot when training my cat to use it. Straightforward (easy programming) and well constructed (hasn't failed once yet). Con: The sliding door that covers the first tray is a bit loose; my cat was able to open it a couple times. I don't think this is too much of an issue because it's only one meal. I wish there were more color options... orange doesn't really look the best. It's a bit noisy when it runs, but as long as you don't put it right next to your bed, it's not a big problem. Overall, this is a pretty good feeder.

Easy setup, take me just a minute to customize my feeding schedule. I have the old model and it is really hard when comes to program the schedule. For this new version, I don’t need the manual any more. I went out on Christmas for 2 days and I use the feeder at home , I test it for one meal before I left, when I come back it is on 4th meals. It works great. I don’t expect much like WiFi or internet on this. Maybe that is just for new toy, but I believe usefully will be the most important thing. I tried one with WiFi and phone connection before, that is terrible experience. Lost connection most of the time, run out of battery fast, WiFi looks good but no use at all. So I stick to this useful feeder, reasonable cost and good helper.
