The Jungle Book [DVD] [2016]

I was specifically looking for some new (to me) 3-D Blu-rays that would be worth watching (not a fan of superhero stuff), and this seemed like a good possibility despite my not being a big fan of the animated classic. The first thing I noted once I started watching was that the 3-D largely looked natural, adding to the visuals. When it was raining, it was (almost) tempting to see if there was a wet spot in my living room carpet. :) They reserved a few over-the-top 3-D effects for the end credits. As for the movie itself, it was solid. I especially thought Bill Murray ended up being a great choice for Baloo. My only niggle is that, while the underlying story and character names were set in India, this movie seems, both landscape-wise and with the mix of animals, to be set in Africa, or maybe some hybrid location.

Excellent 3D movie.

I love 2D movies and actually only watch 3D. This movie has a great moral and very intriguing. Entire family enjoyed it, us parents and 11 and 14 year olds. Definitely watching again, and then again. I would not say that it has some knock-out-the-couch 3D moments but it has plenty that make you feel it. Of course, i also have great sound system :) Great movie! Totally recommend!

And exceptional remake of a true classic! This is a good example of how live action and computer-generated images can be so seamlessly integrated. The 3-D effects are particularly effective with the fine photography which carries you through the journey. Technology is truly exceptional... in the case of the animals it would be hard to believe that they're not real except for the fact that they do talk... A really wonderful adventure suitable for the entire family

Excellent 3D. Very good live action adaptation to a Disney animated feature. In many ways better. Walken's Orang king was much creepily sinister. Does honor to Kinlin's work. Sit though the credits. You will not be sorry.

I highly enjoyed "The Jungle Book" over the years since i saw it first time in 2016. I found this to be the best Disney live adaptation. And this 4K UHD disk really looks great - even without Dolby Vision. Atmos is good enough to recommend this overall great disk.

Fantastic film, lovely story all about Mowgli a boy brought up in the jungle by wolves. Wonderful graphics too. 👌 would recommend 😀

Visually stunning and very well acted. The CGI of this version of Jungle Book is very well done and scarily realistic. There is only a whim of the iconic songs, but it's enough and perhaps a good thing. The storyline is somewhat different at some points than the Disney animated classic but apparently closer to the original. All in all a very enjoyable movie, with a remarkably clear story. Excellent choice of entertainment for a family movie-night. And perhaps the most notable thing.. it lacks the almost obligatory Disney princess! Will be hard to convince the kids that a.) red underpants aren't that common and b.) animals don't speak in real life. We buy 3D Blu Ray’s where possible. You pay up for it but they enhance a great family-film evening. Jungle Book in 3D looks very sharp and natural on our fairly high-end Oled LG TV, that gets supported by proper surround sound. I must say I tend to like 3D viewing more at home than in cinema’s these days. And this movie in 3D is particularly well-done; all looks very pleasant and natural to watch without excessive blast and parts flying towards your face.
