Creative Haven Birds and Blossoms Coloring Book (Adult Coloring Books: Animals)

I have nearly all of Marjorie Sarnat's books, even two or three of some that I have also bought at the store near my house. I've also given these books to my daughter and my granddaughters. They are fun to color in, the art isn't to big cuz I love the smaller stuff to color. But not so intricate that it would drive you crazy. I ordered this Birds and Blossoms from Amazon then I found it first at the store near my house so I bought it even though I'm expected the one I pre ordered way back in November sometime today. LOL I guess I couldn't wait. As usual its a beautiful book...I wish she had one with more birdhouses but this one is great anyway. It will be fun to color in. I'm going to preorder her other one that is coming out...its one with Mermaids. Love them all. Keep them coming cuz I don't just stop at one purchase!! LOL Great books!! She had one out, the FIRST Fanciful Fashions book but I didn't get it in time and I haven't seen it since. I really wish she would print some more of that one. I would love to have it!! It's gorgeous, with lots of possibilities for coloring simply or using every skill open to the colorer, and you can be a beginner or an expert colorist and still enjoy the drawings. I will definitely order more to give as gifts to friends. I bought a second book for myself as I want to try multiple color schemes on the pictures, as it IS one of my most favorite coloring books -- and I have a lot of coloring books :-)

I am just learning this. I have purchased several how to books and have learned a lot from those. Right now the biggest help to me has been to use books like this. There are already colored pics from the book on both sides of the front and back covers. That makes 4 teaching pages. I try to duplicate what i see--although i do change the colors sometimes. This book has very nice pics all the way through. I wish i could find a coloring book that had already colored pages of every picture included. I think these have helped me a lot.

Very nice artwork and fairly thick paper. Pages easy enough to remove . Good variety.

Lovely coloring book. I have a good number of Creative Haven books. Good quality. Printed on one page. I mainly use colored pencils so no issues. Will need either a presealant or a mat behind the page you are coloring on if using markers. Alcohol markers less likely to bleed but it can still happen. I found chopping mats 2 for $1 at the Dollar Tree that are perfect to protect your picture that is behind the one you are working on. Will continue to purchase more from CH.

The designs have just the right amount of detail, not too complicated and not too basic. I love that the designs are printed on one side only and that the pages are perforated so that they can easily be removed from the book for a more comfortable drawing experience. I have only used colored pencils but the paper seems study enough to handle markers or gel pens.

I haven’t ever received a coloring book from Dover that wasn’t 100% wonderful. They offer beautiful coloring books at a reasonable price. This one is particularly delightful. Filled with gorgeous birds and flowers so realistic I can almost catch a whiff of fragrance.

Beautifully done book with a variety of birds and blooms to color. I have several of Marjorie Sarnat's coloring books and love them. Pages are one-sided which I like. Haven't tried markers but is great for pencils and crayons. I will try using gel pens with pencils in the future on some of the pages, I don't anticipate the gel pens to bleed thru but will try in a little spot at first to be sure.

Beau livre de coloriages avec de magnifiques fleurs et oiseaux, j'adore. Pour le papier, j'ai essayé avec les crayons de couleurs, c'est impeccable. Pas encore essayé avec les feutres, mais comme il n'y a qu'un dessin par page (pas de dessin recto verso), pas de soucis. Pour l'aquarelle, le papier n'est pas suffisamment épais surtout si vous mouillez beaucoup le papier, mais j'essaierai tout de même car j'aime trop ce livre ! Livraison effectuée dans les délais prévus, tout parfait, très contente de mon achat !

I have always enjoyed colouring but haven't really done any since my late teen years. Decided it was high time I gave it a go again and as summer will soon be at an end thought this was the ideal time to start getting my Autumn and Winter planned. As I have fond memories of the 1980s Berol poster colouring tubes I was looking for intricate designs that incorporated "busy" backgrounds and a nature theme so this book immediately spoke to me. So pleased with this when it arrived was I that I actually started it the same day. There is a good range of intricate designs in this book, I particularly like the first one in the book - the peacock, with scrolled and intricate backgrounds framing highly detailed birds. The designs are printed on one side of the paper so any bleed through does not ruin the next design. The paper quality is good and thick and a nice crisp white with a matte finish. I colour with a felt pen so bleed through is a natural enemy and although there is a little on the stronger colours it is not enough to soak through to the next page so I will get to colour all of the designs in this book. I would recommend having a range of pen tips available though. Some of the fine detail is very, very fine - my pens are dual tipped and the 0.3mm end just about fits in to some of the tighter sections. I also found that I did use the fatter brush tip in some sections where it was perhaps too fat so I'm not entirely within the lines but it looks okay. Perforated pages make it easy to remove a finished project from the book for display - if you have done a particularly striking job. If you use a blendable media you could make some striking pieces like the cover, this will be harder with a more fixed media but you can still get some lovely results. Thanks to the thickness of the pages I could actually see colouring these and then cutting elements out for decoupage usage.
