Sega Genesis Core System 2 - Video Game Console (Renewed)

For a 30 year old console, it's absolutely PERFECT. It came clean and in very good working condition. I plugged it in and turned it on, and it plays games with no issues whatsoever. I never had a Sega as a kid and I got ahold of a game I remember playing in the 90s. So i searched around and this was the best price I could find, especially with a money back guarantee and easy return. But I will definitely be keeping it! Very happy with my "new" game console and already ordered more game cartridges for it as well as a brand new second controller!

The console does turn on and displays the game. The port for controller one does not allow the directional pad to move up. I tried several controllers including a new one. All controllers work on port two. I opened the console to clean out and re-solder the pins on port one and found two dried out roaches, rust and previous water damage. At this point all I can do is just laugh. You dirty MFS lol... wish I could post the pics. On the up side it was delivered ahead of time.

I needed a replacement for my 29-year-old Sega Genesis console which I recently discovered doesn't turn on anymore, so I got this. It has no trouble reading any of my games, even the ones that I thought were broken...turns out my dying console just wasn't able to run most of my games anymore (though I'm pretty sure my Ms. Pac-Man cart really is toast). It runs my games. It turns on without a fight (except when I try to play the aforementioned Ms. Pac-Man). It's also compatible with my current TV, which my old console wasn't, which means I don't need to keep that old TV from the 80's anymore to play my games. If I have to pick a downside, it's that it doesn't come with 6-button controllers, and my old console's controllers don't work anymore, so I still can't play Mortal Kombat.

I was extremely hesitant to purchase. However, was pleased with the packaging quality and how nicely everything was protected during shipping. The pros - clean system, fully functional and cosmetically looks nice. My 1200 In 1 V3 Pro Game Cartridge works well with the system so there have been no issues running games. The cons - AV output cord does not easily fit into back of system and does not feel completely secured. It took a while in getting the cord inserted correctly. You only get a 3-button controller with this system so of course I had to order a new 6 button. Controller that comes with system feels very worn but that isn't a huge issue as I will just replace it. For the money, not a bad purchase but could have been slightly better.

System arrived fully functional other than some visual distortion on the image horizontally. It smells musty though like it was stored someplace humid or damp and there's visible spots on the metal beneath the plastic shell that I am hoping is not rust. The horizontal distortion is especially noticeable on text. I originally thought it was my Composite to VGA adapter but testing on a display with composite inputs confirms it is either the video adapter or system board. Based on my research online this is due to any number possible noise sources on the main board of the system. I've ordered some aftermarket mods which are supposed to correct the composite signal on these older consoles as well as a capacitor kit. If i find any corrosion inside the unit or re-capping solves the problem then I will deduct more stars as such basic cleaning & repairs should have been part of any "refurbishing" process.

I received my vintage console in good condition and was very happy! Many classic games are still available on the cartridges, so I found a few of my favs online. I also know there’s a few different multi-game cartridges and have a 198 Games on one. This was a good purchase, and I absolutely recommend this to anyone who likes older, vintage or classic video games.

The power cable does not stay snug so it's it's unplayable unless I prop it up on something and even the. It doesn't stay. Haven't even played a game yet can it only shows up of I'm holding the power cord in tightly.

It works great! The only thing was the wrong sized power adapter was sent with it, but my son used his Alexa power adapter & it actually worked so if you also receive the wrong size, this could be a quick fix for you too :) Other than that, it has worked perfectly!

Can’t plug AC adapter in the back of the console. Ordered a new adapter thinking it was defective, still can’t plug it in. Sent the console back. Never ordering retro consoles from Amazon again..
