Best "budget" electric piano.
Bought as a present for my partner ... who is absolutely THRILLED with the Roland. The build quality, key "feel", sound quality and the bluetooth connection/apps are all excellent. First class. The keyboard is not too heavy and is now sat nicely on an "X frame" stand (also bought on Amazon) which I would recommend purchasing. One thing to note .... delivery was as arranged ... but the Roland box in which the keyboard is delivered is RATHER LARGE !!! 😀😀😀. Wrapping it as a present is rather challenging for one person 😀😀😀. A BRILLIANT purchase.

Plays like a baby grand piano without need the for the space or the upkeep. Perfect for beginners.
I bought this as I had been playing a PSR E463 keyboard for a few months but realised I wanted to learn to play an actual piano after starting lessons. Not being in a position to put an actual piano in my apartment, a digital piano was my only choice. After watching a lot of reviews on youtube, and reading countless blogs and reviews on multiple music websites I chose the FP-10 and have had it for about a month now. Zero regrets (although I see it is already almost 50 quid cheaper, so maybe I could have been a little more patient!). Pros: Lovely action. As close to a real piano as I think you can get at this price. Very compact and light. I have no difficulty moving this around on my own. Nice piano sounds. You get only 4 grand piano tones, but all are good quality (All better than the one grand piano tone on my PSR E463). There are a bunch of other tones to play with, 36 in all. Nice speakers with a stand. They face down, so the rear panel on the stand directs the sound forward. Bluetooth connection to Roland app allows easier set up of various parameters for playing like reverb, tuning, key delay etc as well as choosing more tones than you can access on the keyboard controls. Cons: Very quiet headphone socket. You need good quality low impedance headphones for a decent volume. Or maybe an amplifier (I have not tried that as my headphones work fine). The controls on the keyboard are very basic and not intuitive. Using the app is almost a necessity. Only that one 1/8" headphone socket for output, so maybe not so great in a live performance or studio environment as you'll need an adapter for a mixer or external speakers. Stand is not cheap at 75 quid for 3 bits of wood. I built my own for less than 20. I originally used the X stand from my PSR keyboard, but it did not feel very steady, and the speakers didn't sound as good either. Only has a connection for a sustain pedal, and the pedal included is a cheap one. If you want to use 3 pedals you have to step up to the FP30. If you want to half pedal, you'll need to buy a better one which is another 30 quid for the Roland one. I'm using an M-Audio SP2 which is fine for my present needs (sustain on or off)

Sounds and feels like a real piano
Well I thought this would be good but it is way better than I imagined. I am a complete beginner at piano and I had been playing for a couple of weeks on an old casio keyboard I pickup up locally second hand and thought it was ok but I wanted a full piano sized keyboard and after a fair bit of research I went for the roland as I had used a few of their amps for guitar and had always been impressed. Well this didn't dissapoint. The keys feel very similar to a real piano , the sound is excellent, way better than the casio. As a few reviews have said the on board speakers are a bit weak but perfectly good enough for playing in the house, I don't think I would go any loader at least not until I get good at playing. So in my experience I couldn't be happier, great price and i really wasn't expecting it to be this good for this money.

Lovely Digital Piano, could have better app & recording, but Roland Support Team is very helpful
I bought this to replace an aging second hand Yamaha P35. Please bear in mind that the Yamaha is very old, so can't really be compared fairly. But the Roland is a very nice piano that I have had for a couple of years now. I'm a beginner and so can't comment from a professional point of view, but compared to my old Yamaha, the keys make much less noise when pressed, and have a quality feel, although are heavier to press so very quick notes and trills are more difficult, but in my mind this simply means that I have to learn proper technique to play well, which isn't a bad thing. The piano app for the phone connects by bluetooth and gives a lot of adjustment to the piano from different sounds and piano types, to how bright the keys sound (brilliance) and how long the sustain lasts (ambience). Although you can't change how heavy the keys feel, you can also adjust how they respond to your touch, meaning you can change how loud the notes play depending on how hard you hit the keys and you can change it so that if you hit the keys lightly, they will play as if you had hit them harder, and vice versa. As with most digitial pianos, you can set a metronome to help improve your timing which helps learning, and you can change the master tuning. There is a quite a lot of functionaliry in the app. The one thing I don't like is that you can record the midi sound you play via the recorder in the app, but there is no way to get that midi sound from the app or to share it in any way, which does make me wonder what the point of the record function in the app is. Howver, when I emailed Roland support about it, everyone I spoke to was super helpful and explained solutions (record to a computer via the headphone port, or to connect via the USB and use VST software). I will be honest, the Yamaha was considerably easier to record my sound from though as it has Midi output ports and far less messing around. I don't really move the piano, as it is just for learning at home, so I can't comment on the portability, but it isn't super light. But then no decent digital pianos are and it's still a whole lot lighter than an actual piano! The main thing I would like would be better app support and recording's that can be shared from the app. Apparently iPhones have better options for the app over Android, but this is an issue with the app and the developers rather than the operating system. I feel like they could get it to work if they invested the time and development of the app. Overall, I like the piano, given the choice I'm not sure if I'd buy it again due to how much more dififcult it is to record your sound over the yamaha, there is a big deal made about being able to connect the piano via bluetooth, but other than the rare time you need to change the piano settings, it's not that useful. I would have given 3.5 stars if it were an option, or a 6 or 7 out of 10. But for the price, I am not unhappy with it, and it is still performing well after having it for a couple of years now.
