Great TV with Excellent Picture, Sound, and Syncs to WiFi Perfectly
The Sony Bravia X950G worked great straight out of the box. I’m by no means a tv aficionado, and I just upgraded from a Visio 45” tv, but I can say that the picture quality is phenomenal, the sound quality is good (but even better when used with a Samsung/Bose Soundbar), and the tv is easy to see in both low light and bright light situations. It took some time to set up as you need to sync it with all your programs such as Netflix, Disney +, cable tv, soundbar, etc, but once it was set up, it worked perfectly every time. We’ve tested out the TV with regular cable watching, Blu-Rays, Netflix, Disney +, Apple TV, and most recently a lot of video gaming, and the picture quality has been great. We have zero issues with connectivity through WiFi and can even connect via AirPlay with little effort. This tv also syncs with Alexa so you can easily turn your tv on, off, and adjust the volume with just your voice. It’s not something we utilize often, but it helps when you can’t find the remote and just want the tv on or off quickly. Another cool feature that’s really convenient is that the television will automatically turn on and go to the correct input when you turn on one of the connected HDMI devices. The kids particularly like this feature because they turn on their Switch and the tv automatically turns on and goes to the correct input. This seems like such a simple thing, but it’s proven very helpful since I don’t have to hear the kids hollering for help on getting the tv on, figuring out the correct input, and so forth. I highly recommend adding some bias lighting and a sound bar if you want your TV a little more “extra” - it really helps ease the strain on your eyes and ups the bass on the sound. Overall, it’s a great television that offers a great viewing experience at a reasonable price.

Very Satisfied Customer thus far!! Received March 21, 2019.
This is a great TV!!! Best I ever had! Speakers are better than most modern TV's but I still bought a Sony HT-X9001F soundbar which makes a perfect companion with good clean bass.. This replaced an old Sony Trinitron that just would not die. This is in my bedroom which is where I do most of my TV viewing at night. I finally decided I may die first with my dream TV money in my pocket so I made the plunge and I'm so glad I did. It really does drastically improve regular HD video and also does great with old black and white programming. I bought from Video Audio Center because their ad said much more than other ads about what I should do if I received a TV with problems. It made me feel they were interested in my having a good experience even if problems occurred along the way. I had NO problems though! They cut a shipping label less than an hour after I ordered on a Saturday afternoon. It shipped the following Monday and was here in Texas from California by Thursday. No shipping damage and all parts present and accounted far. Mounting the legs was easy and it set atop my old TV chest until I could find a proper wall mount. I returned the first wall mount bracket because it was too heavy, had poor instructions. missing parts, but mostly because when mounted, the bracket covered most of the I/O ports. Then I found this: FORGING MOUNT FM9381-B TV Wall Mount Bracket, a perfect mate for my new Bravia 55". It was half the weight and price, twice the quality, had very good instructions and no missing parts. It was very easy to install and fits perfectly, allowing access to all ports . It spreads the weight over 2 studs instead of one and has very smooth, well functioning adjustments for vertical tilt, rotation/swivel, telescoping and side to side leveling. It has plenty of "heft" for much heavier TV's than mine. (speced at 132 pounds) and is almost like a custom fit. The quality is at or above most brackets 3 to 4 times the price. FYI, I left the legs on the TV until we lifted the TV 68" above the floor to the wall bracket connection point and tightened it into place. The TV was easier to grip with the legs on and were easy to remove afterwards.

Returned - Reason: Bad Hardware and Firmware Problems Sony refuses to fix
The good: 85 inch, great picture, Dolby vision looks amazing, certain content looks better than Q90R82 Samsung. Unfortunately the FW is horrible and ruined the product. The bad: Unfortunately this set has so many android fw problems, I gave up with Sony support and had to return it. After 4-6 days of typical use, tv audio and video is horribly out of sync, like 1-3 seconds which makes content unwatchable. YouTube and other app menus exhibit odd crackling noises when scrolling through video tiles or selections and sometimes freezes. Contacted Sony several times with technical support denying any knowledge of the issue and suggesting to update fw, and then physically pull the plug and reboot each time I want to watch tv. Tried updating to later fw to latest (twice), tried several different hdmi sources, tried problematic sources on other tvs, proving issue is w 950G chipset itself. Again Sony denied this issue existed and said to physically unplug power, which only resolves for a day or two and then lipsync issue and audio crackling or app issues come right back. Changing video modes or audio formats does does not resolve and this is straight out of the speakers from the tv itself. Also noticed white halos or blooming on all four corners w certain dark content and occasionally see bad frame jitter (worse than Samsung Q90R) for certain content, golf looked horrible. Originally I was happy but now tv seems problematic w latest fw, w Sony refusing to fix their set which is riddled w android and possibly hw issues. I will also not buy tvs from amazon anymore, as they did a horrible job on both deliveries (didn’t even use their lift gate and just slid 85 tv down the truck gate, did the same when they picked it up...smh), returned it today. Sad, my Bravia from 2007 is still great, Sony just not the same anymore and ended up w lg from Best Buy, installed by geek squad.

The picture quality is sharp and the colours are vivid. Overall build quality is premium. I should have bought a Sony Bravia years ago. I recommend getting a sound bar to improve the TV's below average sound quality. Amazon jailed us to our house for 2 days based on a time frame of: "your delivery will arrive sometime before 8pm tomorrow". They forgot to mention these hidden conditions: "we only deliver if we're in the mood", "we'll make you wait until 8pm without warning", and "we refuse to cooperate". Amazon also forced us to deal directly with the bad attitudes of the FedEx agency they hired to deliver it. Don't bother buying this from Amazon if you have any type of delivery pet peeve. We were deeply mistaken to believe Amazon was above these archaic delivery practices. It turns out that Sony fixes the price on all their products. You can get this TV from virtually anywhere else for the same price and a lot less hassle. Local competitors even provide free delivery on a reasonable schedule along with installation.

I was really surprised at how good the Android TV interface is. It is very responsive and easy to use - I guess I thought it would be unpowered, so it would be sluggish, but that is not the case at all! If they will just keep it reasonably up-to-date I'll be thrilled and will buy a Sony again. The picture is very good, but I would have a harder time rendering an accurate assessment of how it compares to the alternatives. Seems great to me but it's not like I have anything here to compare it to!

TV seemed fine at first but after about a month the screen would show no picture when the TV turned on. The sound and buttons would all work but no picture. After 10-25 mins of being left on the screen would start working. Have to plan your TV watching before hand amd turn it on at least 30 mins before you want to watch something and it does stop working while you're watching too so theres that too. Connected Sony support 6-7 times to troubleshoot. Whether through the chat or a call was lead through the same troubleshooting steps almost everytime despite having an open case and providing all the details which was annoying. The Support Chat is quick and easy but dissconnects you after 5 mins and many of the troubleshooting steps take longer than that so was disconnected several times which was annoying as well. Finally got to the point where it is determined the TV os defective and am now waiting for a couple of weeks for a motherboard part on back order before someone comes to try and repair it. Went with this TV because it had good ratings onlone and I thought it would be an upgrade from my Samsung from a few years ago but its not worth extra money especially since its not working. Not the best time to have a broken TV given its pandemic and not much to do and I have to let someone into my house to repair it.

If you are coming from a 1080p HDTV like I was, you will be very impressed with the picture quality. The 4K picture and the HDR means everything just pops off the screen. Its ability to upscale from good 1080p source sometimes makes me wonder whether the source was 4K. It is that good. The Android TV apps are also very good. Oddly enough its NetFlix app has a "More like this" feature that is missing on the Netflix app on my Apple TV and the Plex app is also nicer than the one on the Apple TV. Only wish they have the NHK World app which I find odd because it is in the Android Play Store but not available for the TV. I also want to comment how responsive the interface is. Scrolling through the UI is smooth and never makes me think I did not press the remote properly. The one major caveat I have is the TV loses connection to my WiFi every few days and it is not because I have weak WiFi in my house where the TV is. The only solution is unplug AC power or restart the TV from the remote (i.e. Hold power button on remote for 5 sec, it shuts down and restarts).

My only complaint with this unit would be that the default picture settings weren't great (check rtings.com for good values.) The picture is fantastic on this thing, colours are bright and accurate, blacks are super dark. 1080 content looks good as well. I use a receiver for managing inputs and a Roku for streaming services, so can't say much about the speakers or the smart features. The setup for 4K HDR was a bit of a nuisance, but this was my first time dealing with 4K, so I'm willing to admit I may have been the weak link in the chain!
