Good for some interesting information for someone who is getting started in tying flys.

I love the pictures that accompany the text, they do a great job of showing what the author was taking about. The author was concise and very crisp with the information. It is delivered in a nice format that makes reading easy.

My son-in-law was delighted to receive this for Christmas from me. It covers basics but also gives tips and suggestions for the would-be fly fisherman.

Excellent book for beginners; I’m not new to this, but it had been about 20 years- I hadn’t tied flies since college. I needed to refresh my memory and get a few good patterns. This book has some great tips. I’ve learned some trivia didn’t know about before.

This is definitely NOT the first book you want to read if you are a complete novice. The author is indeed very knowledgeable and his tips seem to be very good, IF you already know what he is talking about. The author does not even introduce the basic parts of a fly until halfway through the book. I set it down and will revisit once I have learned the basics. A rank novice will find this book very mystifying.

Amazing book , would highly recommend for anybody who's looking to start tying their own flys . Perhaps not for somebody who's intermediate or already been tying for a bit though each person may glean different information from this fantastic reference
