Very dull and boring book
Very dull and boring book, investment banking for dummies was amazing, sadly was underwhelmed with this, nothing bad with the seller, came quick and good condition.

Pros - This book is very well written. Some authors may know a topic but few can explain it in a good way. - This goes over everything you'd want to know about hedge funds. If you are dumb enough to be on reddit or WSB subreddit, then you think that hedge funds are these evil organizations trying to destroy every business. After reading this book, it's obvious that hedge funds are just people that manage your money. Only a handful are corporate raiders. - Long book with tons of info. - Inexpensive for financial books. Cons - She makes it a point to use the word 'she' everywhere. Very sexist. - The book is a bit outdated. Is microsoft really only worth 200 billion? - It does need a bit of checking. She mentions that hedge funds are impossible to find but later gives website addresses to find them. - The is 1 chapter of myths about hedge funds. The problem is that it's written in such a way that I am not sure if she is saying these things are true or false. - The most annoying thing is in every single paragraph, she lists where in the book you can find more information about what she is talking about. Normally, this is OK but she does this like a million times. It's tough to read when this is constantly done. The dillio A very good book. I hate books with the word 'dummies' in them, but this seemed to be the only good one about hedge funds. This is probably the only hedge fund book you'd need. It even has info on finding them, how they work, how much they charge, what to ask before joining one and all.

Wow! This book sets a new standard for the "...For Dummies" series. It goes well beyond what you would expect from a book with such a whimsical title. Ann Logue is smart, her research is solid, and her writing is perfectly colloquial. No BS, no jargon. If you don't have an MBA, or if you earned it before hedge funds entered the scene, take Logue's corporate finance tutorial, meaning start from the beginning. If you don't need the background, then jump to Part III, beginning on page 165, dealing with hedge fund strategies. This book covers the history of hedge funds, their regulatory aspects, asset allocation, risk management, the Greeks, transparency, due diligence, and perhaps the most important aspect, where does the alpha come from? Read it for fun; read it for self-defense, or prep yourself for an interview, but do read it.

Coming from a 21 year old college student who didnt know a whole lot about hedge funds, this book really helped me out. If you dont have any knowledge about hedge funds it can be kinda overwhelming and it sort of skips around a bit.... however, it does have a lot of great info and it puts things into perspective so that you can catch on fast.
