Everything I wished for in DQ Builders 1, realized!
This game gives me absolutely everything I ever wished the first one could have improved on. A myriad of new tools make it a lot easier and faster to do certain things, and later in the game when you gain the ability to befriend monsters, certain monsters can act as other useful tools as well. Fall damage isn't such a danger, you don't have to hunt for dropped items if you die, you have a "fast" running speed(!), and you can customize your outfit to look like a different item so you don't have to choose between fashion and certain stat bonuses. You can fill certain requirements to access unlimited amounts of certain materials for crafting which is SO helpful. The story is great, classic silly Dragon Quest puns galore and a great satisfying epic feel, especially the ending. Admittedly the combat feels easier than the first game, but I personally don't mind because I play other action games for fun combat; I play Builders to build. Overall a lot of fun, more than worth the $25 I paid for it, and a huge enough improvement from the first game that I would be ecstatic to see what they would bring to a third title in the series!

The best block building game, now with more improvements.
Don't get me wrong, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Minecraft. But in terms of polish, features and personality, Dragon Quest Builders 2 pulls away at the starting line and never ever lets up. It is hard to overstate how much better villages and villagers are in DQB2. There are the fact that DQB2 villagers all have distinct appearances and personalities and proper dialog and costuming. There is proper furniture, and the characters can interact with it. There is a proper day/night cycle and the villages feel alive. If there is a raid, it is 5 minutes of crazy fun chaos that wraps up promptly and doesn't derail the game. Basically, everything works properly, and is utterly charming, and it makes Minecraft seem very crude in comparison. This is a game I've been looking forward to ever since I finished the first Dragon Quest Builders, and it does not disappoint.

Fun game, very addicting!
I had tried Minecraft when it was still in its beta phase and honestly couldn’t get into it. I had also tried similar games like Terraria and also didn’t like it. Something about this game just hooked me. Probably because it’s like a Dragon Quest skinned Minecraft. The neat thing is that your NPC/Villagers actually interact with the buildings and items you make. The game has a pretty lengthy story-mode and once you’re done with it, the only goal is to really build up your island how you please but the game does give you some loose objectives.

Good game, creative building / rpg
Good game. It does get a bit repedative and grind demanding near the end of the story mode. I had to push myself to keep playing moonbrooke and the last chapter, but I also needed to see where the story would take me. Once the story ends you still have hours of play and free creativity to build whatever you want. I can't say how it compares to the first title becouse it's not required that you finish or even play it before this one. I just wish it had an official guide. But there are resources online if you need one.

Very Addictive and fun to play
This game takes place after the events of Dragon Quest II but probably in the alternate timeline of the 1rst Dragon Quest Builders as well. Unlike the 1rst game this is an actual action RPG where you get XP from the enemies and level up but there's a level cap restricted by story progression. This game is even more sandbox oriented than the 1rst with a lot of freedom and other things to do like farming among other things. If you want the ability of fishing then you need to buy the aquarium DLC for $9.99 USD. It has many improvements that will help you navigate in closed buildings and also a 1rst person view if you press R3 on the PS4 controller, you have to find out what button to use for this on other platforms. If you don't like to build stuff then this is not for you but if you like games like Minecraft and Dragon Quest at the same time then you will like this. You will spend hours on this game so be careful with your time.

Best RPG game I’ve played in a while
I went into this game knowing nothing about the first game or any of the dragon quest games. This is a perfect mixture of Minecraft and your normal RPG game. Awesome characters, except for Lulu, idk why but she just annoyed me the entire game lol. I’ve gotten this game a month or two ago and I’m still playing which is saying something because there was a good 2 weeks I played it all day everyday and still have yet to finish the story line. I’ve easily put like 50 hours into this game. For the price I payed which was around 20 bucks it was a great purchase but I would be just as happy if I spent full price for it as well. BUY THIS GAME YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Excellent game that improves on the original.
Some might consider this to just be Minecraft with DragonQuest stuff, and that just isn't true. It is a full RPG with a story ( light story for a JRPG, only about four or five chapters with each being numerous hours each), though the focus is pretty much always on building things to solve people's problems. It's very fun and intuitive, and I took a lot of enjoyment in finding new recipes not just for items, but for rooms as well. I would recommend to anyone who enjoys building, RPGs, and fun in general.

Amazing game
I played this non stop (aside from sleeping) for about a week. It’s just as addicting as Minecraft, but for me I find it a bit better. It’s challenging and keeps you entertained and thinking. The best feature, for me, is being able to visit other players worlds to view their creations (or view the random ones that are placed on your islands as their “feature building”) this offers some ideas for buildings on your own islands.
