Royal King Jasmine Tea - 100 Tea Bags

I am on a quest to find a good jasmine and this is a decent one. Much better than most that you can buy, but it's not quite up there with the tea a good Chinese restaurant will serve you, so I will only give it 4 stars. Lots of jasmine aroma here :) There is kind of a learning curve for this tea. It can EASILY be over-steeped, and then it gets really bitter really fast and needs to be tossed. I steep it for only 2-3 minutes. With most tea I can just leave the tea bag in, but definitely not with this one.

I got hooked on Royal King jasmine green tea nearly nine years ago when I gave up a 4+ can per day diet soda habit. One teabag to a liter of water, steeped and chilled overnight, that became my go-to cold beverage, 2-4 liters per day. I tried other brands when I couldn't find Royal King and they were okay, but RK was my fave. Then it disappeared seemingly forever maybe year ago, none at my local Asian markets and none on Amazon, so I switched to something else. When that was unavailable recently I searched and was thrilled to find Royal King available again, immediately ordered. It's not the same as it was. Upon opening the package the jasmine aroma was huge. After brewing some, the color is substantially lighter. It is very flavorful, very jasminey, much less green tea flavor. I enjoy it but less than before with the nearly undetectable green tea flavor, and not sure what to make of the intensity of the jasmine aroma and flavor. It reminds me of a jasmine flavor syrup made in Thailand that is just water, sugar, and artificial flavors. Of course the RK tea isn't sweetened, but the intensity of the jasmine is the same as that artificially flavored product. Some other brands of jasmine green tea I've tried listed "artificial flavoring" in their ingredients. But looking at the RK package, I was surprised to find that the ingredients aren't listed! Is that even legal? The packaging is different too. The outside box is mostly the same, slightly different layout and different shade of orangish yellow, the shrinkwrap doesn't enclose the whole box like before, but the individual teabag wrappers are completely different, different graphics and printed in red. So this isn't the same Royal King jasmine green tea as before. I reviewed this product a few years ago when it was listed under a different seller, enthusiastically gave it 5 stars. This time I'm on the fence between 2 and 3 stars, partly because of the lack of green tea flavor but mostly because the ingredients aren't listed. That's really bothersome. If you like super intense jasmine flavor and aren't concerned about what ingredients you're consuming, you'll probably like this tea. I like it well enough but may find some plain green tea to mix with it. But I'm reluctant to purchase this again if they don't want to list the ingredients. Are they hiding something?

This is a superior Jasmine tea that presently is sold at a reasonable price. Given the "tariff war", I doubt that I'll be able to afford it in the future.
